SESAR ANNUAL DEMO WORKSHOP Toulouse, 28 29 October 2014 TOPLINK 1 & 2 Daniel MULLER, TOPLINK PM

TOPLINK Summary The TOPLINK project aims at demonstrating the benefits for ATM stakeholders (ANSPs, Airlines, GA and Airport operators) of the deployment of new System Wide Information Services, including Meteorological Services, Aeronautical Services, cooperative Network services, and Flight Information services (for their non safety critical aspects). 2

TOPLINK: context & objectives Context: TOPLINK part of SESAR1, Large Scale Demonstration Activities (2014-2016) TOPLINK builds on top of TOPMET, SESAR1 Demonstration project (2012-14) Main objective In-situ large scale demonstration of Initial SWIM services for non-safety critical applications (Yellow Profile) Target: PCP AF5 (i-swim) Targeted steps beyond TOPMET : From «ad-hoc» Web services towards standardized SWIM services In-flight Air-Ground connectivity More data providers ( improved MET, AIM, ATC, NM, AOP, ) More data consumers (Airspace Users: Major / medium /regional Airlines, General Aviation; ATM: Multiple ACCs, Approaches; Airport operator) 3

TOPLINK: Partners 3 industry: Thales Air Systems (coordinator) Thales Avionics, Airbus 3 MET Service Providers: France, Germany, Finland 3 ANSPs: France, Croatia, Austria 4 Airlines: Air Corsica AirFrance (incl HOP!) Brussels Airlines, 1 Airport: ADP 1 GA operator: ENAC

TOPLINK partners roles Thales Air Systems (TR6) project coordination, data integration platform & initial SWIM Services Integrated prototypes supporting ground applications support to trials execution & analysis Thales Avionics (TAV) data integration platform & Air Ground connectivity Integrated prototypes supporting cockpit applications support to trials execution & analysis Airbus : provision of AMDBs & ETODs. MET Offices (MF, FMI, DWD) : provision of new MET products DSNA, CCL, ACG : 5 Provision of static & dynamic AIM (incl. D NOTAM) Trials, ANSP Use Cases Aéroports de Paris provision of the AODB specific information Trials, Airport Use Case Air France, Brussels Airlines Trials, Commercial Airlines Use Cases HOP!, Air Corsica Trials, Regional Airlines Use Cases ENAC Trials, General Aviation Use Case Eurocontrol (ECTL) Supporting partner, provision of NM B2B services

TOPLINK: a sample of partner s expectations Airline perspective: To improve Airline cost efficiency, the company on its own has done most of the «easy actions»; further gains will only go through a better cooperation with ANSPs and Airports TOPMET has enabled us to understand what we can gain in reducing the impact of MET, and what exactly we need to do to reach it We expect from TOPLINK to allow us demonstrating a first batch of tangible gains, and starting the deployment of an iterative improvement process ANSP perspective: To improve ANSP traffic flow management efficiency, as e.g. a cumulated 14000+ mn delay has been generated by MET convection over the FIR Bordeaux in only 11 days over May Aug 2014 (resulting in # 800+ k losses for impacted Airlines) Based on the TOPMET outcomes, we trust that at least a 20% decrease of these delays can be targeted and demonstrated in the TOPLINK project 13

Expected outcomes TOPLINK Target N 1 KPI: efficiency Contribute to the reduction of inefficiencies in the global Aviation system through a better share of information and CDM Further benefits expected on predictability, capacity, safety & passenger comfort Airline IT ~ $11bn ATM IT* ~$4bn Aviation System Inefficiency $9Bn Airport IT ~ $6bn 14
