Ten Things to Know About Doors Open Pittsburgh (DOP): 1. Doors Open Pittsburgh (DOP) is a 2-day celebration of architecture, design and heritage, presented in an innovative format for all to enjoy. 2. The second annual DOP takes place over the weekend of October 7-8, 10am-4pm. Hours for the participating buildings vary. Hours are listed in this guide and on our website; www.doorsopenpgh.org 3. Reservations are not required, but you will be required to show your ticket at each building for entry (printed copy or mobile is acceptable). 4. Event tickets are ONLY available online at www.doorsopenpgh.org/tickets-tours and can be purchased until Sunday October 8, at 3pm. 5. You can purchase either a 1-day or a 2-day event ticket (DOP is FREE for anyone under 18/ over 65, but a ticket is still required). 6. Visit our mobile-friendly website, www.doorsopenpgh.org, to plan your DOP itinerary and get up-to-the-date info on participating buildings. You can also access the mobile mapping tool and take your itinerary with you on your phone! 7. New this year Insider Tours! These are thematic, traditional tour experiences, led by local experts. These tours do require buying a ticket separate from the DOP Event Ticket. Insider Tour Tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are ONLY available online, until October 5, at 5pm. Tickets range in cost from $0 - $40. You can find descriptions for the various Insider Tours and get tickets at www.doorsopenpgh.org/tickets-tours 8. Doors Open Pittsburgh, Inc is a non-profit, (501c3) established in 2016, founded by Bonnie Baxter for the purpose of bringing Doors Open Pittsburgh to this city. Bonnie serves as the only full-time staff; DOP is supported by 400 awesome event-day volunteers (look for the orange shirts!) and a handful of interns from Duquesne University and Point Park University. 9. Bonnie was inspired by a similar event she attended in Chicago, and now Pittsburgh joins the ranks of 50+ other European and North American cities that host Doors Open/Open House events. 10.
