Barony of Thescorre Business Meeting Notes from March 19, 2019 By Mistress Matilda Bosvyle Seneschal: Looking for Prizes for future Market Day Prize Tournaments, valued at $20 or more. May be tournament specific. Exchequer: Checking: $6746.91 Savings: $4051.22, College of Three Ravens event report done: profit of $1183.88 Last Event: College of Three Ravens (the Seafarer s Academy) February 23 rd 2019 at St Paul s Lutheran Church & School Event Steward: Gwen Cook (Jenn, mentored by Marguerite), Feast Cook: Cairistian Symon (Mina), Lunch Cook: Katja (Chris), Tollner Marguerite, Class Coordinator: Nicole (Nikki), Rattan Coordinator: Corbin (Joel), Rapier Coordinator: Eric, A & S Coordinator: Torbjorn Sigardson (Jon). Gentles on site: 226 (208 adults, 18 children), Feast for 80 sold out. 51 classes taught by 39 teachers scheduled. Suggested: more coordination in regard to youth oriented classes so they don t overlap next year. Ovens were found to be 50-75degrees below indicated temperature, recommend site have them calibrated. Pizza ovens were fine. Church staff was responsive when it was pointed out they had turned off the hot water. Site is happy with us! From Gwen: I am very grateful that we had so much help during set-up, the event itself, and tear-down. That made all the difference in the world and ensured that everyone involved was able to rest and recoup before and after the event. Regarding changes, I think it would work better to have children's activities moved to another one of the small classrooms. This year, we had one that was only used for storage, and I believe it would work nicely to be converted into a room for children's activities. Several attendants shared with me how glad they were that the event was so youth friendly, so I would like to further encourage the event to find other ways to encourage youth participation. Perhaps through a largesse project, a few more youth-specific classes, or even a youth fighting tournament. I believe moving the merchants into a shared classroom space (with spillover into the hallway) worked well as it decreased the congestion of the main hallway. I would want better signage for them in the future. Using the gym for mostly classes and some pick-ups (and of course youth fighting) worked well and seemed to give everyone time to get to classes and workshops as they wished. Next Event: Baronial Champs (Thescorre & Rydderich Hael), May 24-27th 2019 at Richard s Castle in Bergen, Event Steward: Lady Capt n Nikki (and the Three Swans Crew) negotiation were successful! This will be a joint venture with the Barony of the Rhydderich Hael, sharing workload, profit and tournament fields for Champions activities. Reservationist Katja (& Caleb), Feast Cook: Richard of the Swamp (& Crew) feast limited to 75 (paid in advance). Other staff to be determined. Event Registration adults: $10, 2

Adult member: $5 day, $10 weekend, children $3, feast: $8 adult, $5 child. Comparable schedule to last year, but starting ½ hour later, features Heavy Combat, Fencing, Archery, Thrown Weapon, Bardic and A&S Champion Tournaments. Update: pirate staff planning meeting scheduled for March 30 th. Future Event: Pax Interuptus (theme: The Good Olde Days) July 5-7 th, 2019 at Genesee Country Campground, Event Steward: Marguerite de Neutchasteau, Tollner: Matilda Bosvyle, Lunch Cook: Andrew of Thescorre (lunch will be served to all attendees), Marshall in Charge: Corbinus de Cuvis, Archery Marshal: Gwen Cook. Fee Structure: Adult $19, Adult Member $14, youth $7. Event announcement is up! PAX is fast approaching. Maggie is waiting for the site to get back to her about if the site is an ADA compliant. Any marshal questions please send to Corbin. There are only 2 cabins left out of the 5 she asked be set aside for us if you want a cabin or an RV site contact the site directly. Royal Pavillions for Court will be set up on the SOUTH side of the field to avoid sun directly in the audience s eyes for evening court. Next Market Day: Sunday March 24, activities to include Youth Armored Combat Prize Tourney, Court Dancing, Make & Take project: Making Butter, Pot Luck lunch. Officer Reports: Heavy Weapons: practice Thursdays starting 7pm at Red Shield Hall Youth Combat: alternate Thursdays runs 6-7p at Red Shield Hall (check the Facebook Youth Activities group Fencing: practice Mondays at Red Shield Hall starting 7pm, had 4 new fencers at practice! Barony approved $65 for Eric to purchase a new loaner gorget, so we ll have enough armor for all. Archery: on hiatus until spring as it is still to wet and cold to chase lost arrows in the back 40 of the Castle. As soon as Corbin hears from Nikki that it is drying up and the temps get warmer too, he plans on setting up a day, like we did last year to help clean the range and area. Thrown Weapons: on hiatus watch the email list for updates for East Side practice Sundays 2:30p to 4:30p at Athos s house. West Side practice at the castle is on hiatus until spring. A&S: Ice Dragon is coming up; the Arts competition categories have changed significantly. Spring AEcademy is also in the Hael in June. As Pennsic Land Agent Otelia has registered Barony of Thescorre for Pennsic. If you plan to camp with the Barony, please send her an email before registering for War. Chatelaine: I have been contacted by the Finger Lakes Celtic Games and Festival. They 3

are asking if the barony would be interested in doing a demo. This is on the same weekend as AE War Practice. Corbin and I will not be able to do this as he needs to be at WP. I did post to both FB and our Yahoo list asking if anyone be willing to be the contact for this if there is enough interested, if there is not I can make a call out to Delftwood. I think that is what was done last year. If anyone wants to be the contact please let me know and I will put you in touch with them. I will also get to you our flyers. The Kingdom Chatelaine from Meridies put out a post about the Newcomers Badge. The actual badge that has been approved for use and this is approved at Society level Persuivant: C3R Court report done; will be at Market Day for consultations. Web Minister: Still have a lot of content to migrate from the old site. Champs and Pax announcements are up. Baron & Baroness: Game Day will be Saturday March 23, just before Market Day. College of Three Ravens was amazing. His Excellency will be attending Coronation and Ice Dragon, while Her Excellency is away on a mundane trip to visit family.
