A MISSIVE FROM OUR BARON AND BARONESS Greetings to the snow-covered populace! Despite our current storage problem (where can I shovel more snow to!?), we soon look forward to Spring and our event of Schu tzenfest. Not only will there be shooting from Friday to Sunday, there will also be Bardic! During the Schu tzenko nig shoots on Saturday morning, we will be selecting our next Baronial Archery Champion. The person will be a fine shooter, but also an exemplary participant. We will select from among potential champions looking for more than prowess and high scores. Saturday afternoon, we will select our next Bard of Nordskogen. There will be opportunities to create works based on the Friday night word shoot, time for individual performances, and time for a discussion with us. One of Samia s favorite parts of Schu tzenfest is the cabins! They re warm, bright, and comfortable. Will you stay with us in them? I m happy to host a cabin for folks who aren t bothered by people coming in late (or, might be people who come in late). Oswald is happy to host a cabin for folks who would like to nod politely and then read quietly when they get back. Register for Samia s Cabin or Oswald s Cabin when you send in your pre-reg. Later in the summer, the Barony co-hosts Warriors and Warlords. We are planning a number of fun activities, and your support will help make those happen. Elsewhere in the Crystal Quill is information about volunteer needs. We plan to select our next Baronial Cooking Champion at this event. Rounding out the outdoor events by the Barony, Harvest Home is on the fall calendar. This event is meant for unstructured fun and shenanigans. Finally, we are pleased to announce the Honorable Lord Skio has been selected to serve as our next Baronial Armored Champion! We thank the fine slate of candidates who offered their services, and also Lord Helmut Strauss, the previous Champion, Baroness Jehanette, for running the lists, and Sir Melrakki for coordinating activities with the three of us. In loving service, Baron Geoffrey and Baroness Samia

Seneschal, Baron Thomas Bordeaux: not here Knight s Marshal, Sir Refkell Melrakki Einarsson: A tourney for the Baronial heavy champion was held last night. 6 people entered. Hard to choose. There will also be other things happening for the 25 th anniversary. Have a brewing & vintning coordinator this year so we will have a revival of Ivetta s challenge! Old Business Twelfth Night A wonderful and amazing event. Many compliments, especially for the duck thing. There were 458 attendees, 399 adults and 59 children. The feast came in under budget by 187 dollars. Prizes were donated so that was also under budget. There was a profit of $7109.99 including $2000 from the jumble sale. The jumble sale was fantastic. It should probably have two people in charge next year. The roving heralds were greatly appreciated. The game salon was fantastic. The royalty liaison and chamberlain needed to be in better communication about the food. Fighter food needed an attendant. The church was told about non-working oven. Someone always has an idea for next year s 12 th Night. The staff at the church are amazing!!!!! Joe, the custodian, was given a site token and all the church staff got chocolate. The custodial staff loves us, volunteers to work with us, and thanked the Baron & Baroness. The profit from the event and the jumble sale has covered almost half of our budget for this year. New Business Harvest Home: on for October 19-21 and awesome. Marketing team? The Shire of Mare Amethystinum wants to borrow the baronial archery equipment for their event, Thatsa Mare. Master Crispin Fletcher will be responsible. Motion made by Sitt al-thullaja and seconded by Lord Wolfstanus Lightfote. Motion passed.
