Day 1 Sunday 5:30a Arrive LAX for flight check in. 8:25a Delta flight #1285 scheduled to depart for Honolulu. Meals available for purchase (debit/credit card) 9:00a United flight #1158 scheduled to depart for Honolulu. Meals available for purchase (debit/credit card) 11:47a/11:59a Scheduled arrival times in Honolulu. Upon arrival at Honolulu Airport, you will be met in baggage claim, presented with the traditional Lei Greeting of Aloha and escorted through to board your bus for the short ride into Waikiki. (Please note that you will need to pull your bag and instrument from the carousel while in baggage claim. They will be transferred by truck to the hotel. This process can take some time, so please be patient). Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger 2300 Kalakaua Ave. Honolulu, HI 96815 3:00pm Hotel check-in and security briefing. 4:30pm Walking departure from hotel to dinner 5:00pm Dinner at Hard Rock Café Beachwalk Day 2 Monday 7:00am Buffet breakfast at hotel Free day in Waikiki. Lunch on your own, afternoon free 5:30pm Catered Hawaiian Dinner on the beach. Following dinner, evening at leisure.
Day 3 Tuesday 6:30am Buffet breakfast at hotel 9:00am Competition begins at the Waikiki Kapiolani Bandstand. If applicable, your instrument truck will be at the park at 8:30am. Participants will be walking to/from hotel and Kapiolani Park. Concert bands, orchestras, jazz bands and choirs participate today. 12:00pm Hawaii Invitational pizza in the park for lunch today during competition. Jazz Band Jam Session during lunch join the fun! 3:30pm Buses depart for the Paradise Cove Luau 9:45pm Approximate return time to hotel. Day 4 Wednesday 6:45am Buffet breakfast at hotel 8:00am Depart for Diamond Head Hike and Aloha Stadium Swap Meet. Lunch on your own 2:30pm Arrival back to hotel, prepare for parade 4:45pm Instrument truck at Ft. DeRussy. 5:00pm Buses depart for parade line-up at 6:00pm. 39 th Annual Salute to Youth Parade steps off at 6:30pm on Kalakaua Avenue at Ft. DeRussy, ending at Kapiolani Park. Following the parade, board your buses for return to hotel. Only students in parade and assisting adults will board buses spectators should walk to the viewing area in front of the Royal Hawaiian Center. Dinner on your own following Parade.
Day 5 Thursday 6:30am Buffet breakfast at hotel 9:00am Bus departs for Pearl Harbor and the City of Honolulu tour. While at Pearl Harbor you will visit the USS Arizona Memorial and the USS Missouri. On the Honolulu City tour you will see Iolani Palace (the only royal palace on US soil), the famous statue of King Kamehameha, the Capital Building, Chinatown and other places of historical interest in Honolulu. 11:15am Timed entry into theater followed by launch to the USS Arizona Memorial. Please be in line as instructed at 15 minutes prior to time printed on your ticket. Please note: No personal items should be brought on tour, purses, backpacks, shopping bags, large camera cases are not allowed at Pearl Harbor for security reasons and the bus company will not accept liability for any personal items left on the bus. Drive through Punchbowl, National Cemetery of the Pacific as part of your Honolulu city tour. 1:30pm Buses return to hotel. Lunch on your own. Afternoon at leisure. 4:30pm Bus departs hotel to Kailua High School for the final competitions, dinner, exhibition, awards ceremony and dance. Late return to hotel (approximate departure time from high school is 9:30pm). Color guards, dance teams, drumlines participate tonight. Day 6 Friday 8:00am Buffet breakfast at hotel 10:00am Bag pull. Please place all suitcases on the floor inside the door of your room. Anything you will take with you on the plane (carry-ons, backpacks, purses, etc.) should be placed on the bed. This will let the porters know not to take them. 10:45am Check-out of the hotel. Please return keys and pay for any incidentals you may have. Report any damage to the front desk prior to departure. 10:30am Buses depart hotel for Circle Island tour with stop at the Dole Plantation. This tour is to all the must-see attractions of Oahu, from the lush green mountains of the Pali, to the famous surf spots on the North Shore. Lunch included on tour. 5:00pm Depart Dole Plantation to Honolulu Airport When you arrive at the airport, you must claim your luggage and instruments for inspection by the US Agriculture Dept. Once your bags/instruments have cleared inspection you will proceed to the check-in counter to get your boarding passes. All bags must also be cleared by the US Transportation Security Administration prior to receiving your boarding passes. 8:45pm/8:47pm United #534 & Delta flight #1212 scheduled to depart Honolulu. Arrival at 4:58am/5:00am on April 20.
