A Word from your Chapter Director David Grumpy Williams Well folks here it is September and Wing Ding is over with and we have had two hurricanes. Ron, Sandi, Rick, Cathy and I returned from Wing Ding on Thursday evening after being gone for a week an a half. This was one of the best trips I have ever been on because of the company and the weather. We had clear weather every day we were gone. No rain or even cloudy skies at all. Hurricane Harvey hit Texas after we arrived in Grapevine and turned east which left us with clear skies for the entire Wing Ding. For those of you that didn't go to Grapevine the last time you missed a great city that turned out in masses to support us all week. The restaurants and shops were great and the welcoming party was a blast. The food and the band were equally terrific as was the facilities. The downtown was crowded with wingers and many towns people during the light parade and most all week. Friday did present a problem for us, because gas become hard to get. Local people got scared and inundated the gas stations and ran them out of gas. We were lucky to find a station open at eleven o'clock on Friday night and only had to wait about twenty minutes to fill up with fuel. By the time we left the station the line was out on the street and around the corner. We left Sunday morning and headed north to Oklahoma and did not have any more fuel problems. According to the Wing Ding staff there were only about forty five hundred people attending the rally. I think there were less than that. There were plenty of vendors and you could get to any of them with no waiting in line. It was also easy to get a test ride on a Honda or a trike. I attended a two hour seminar with our new president. She covered all the changes that are upcoming and I will try to relate them to you at our next gathering. Anita seems to be a very caring person and wants G>W>R>R>A> to succeed. I believe that most of her outlook will work. We will work with the district and to help the district and A 2 to be stronger which will also keep G>W>R>R>A solvent for a long time. A2 has been doing a lot of the things that have been put into the changes that are coming the first of the year. There is no reason to worry because A2 is strong and will stay that way. Our members are some of the best people in this organization and I am sure that will continue no matter what happens. I heard that your trip to the Ark was a success. This is what A2 is all about, members going places and having fun on and off of their Bikes. I would liked to have been there with all of you. Congrats Jim I heaqrd you did a fine job leading everyone home. Thank you Rob and Jany for taking care of the rooms and leading the ride over there. See you on Wednesday.

A Word from your ACD s Mike & Penny Hello A2, Sorry to say the summer is winding down, but that does not mean we stop riding, this past weekend a ride was brought up by Keith and Marcia Russell, Jany Runion got busy and secured rooms at got us a good rate, Rob Runion led the ride going to the ARK in Williamstown, KY. as always did a great job (Thanks Rob) we toured the ARK for about 3 hours and had lunch (Buffet) there. It is really something to see. We all returned to the Marriott parked the bikes and got checked in, then got a bite to eat at a nearby gag & puke (not very good) than sat around in the gazebo and had a nice time shooting the gossip and tall stories.we had a great time. all 15 of the group were there. Sunday morning we stopped at the Cracker Barrel for a good meal, then some went their own way home, a group of us led by Jim Morrison, took us through the hills of KY to OUR BEST RESTAURANT where we ate too much lunch!!! We arrived home about 7pm that evening Thanks Jim for getting us home safe. There is still a lot of time to go on another trip, SOOOOO if you have an idea of some place to go, HEY LETS GO!!!!!~ In GWRRA there are a lot of changes going on, some will affect us and some will not, but what you must understand as a Chapter we are strong, but the only way to stay strong is participate, come to the Gatherings, go on the Dinner rides, come and help out on projects (BIKE SHOW) Sept. 24 th at 9 am. We are a strong Chapter because of our members, as officers we can only do so much, we need YOU to make A2 the best Chapter in Great Lakes Region, OH sorry after the first of the year there are no more regions. All of you purple people remember we are the best chapter around and we will stay strong because we stick together!!! See you at the next dinner ride?????? See you at the next Gathering?????? Come join in and have some fun!!!!!

Words from your Chapter Educators Thad & Robin Smith Hello A2, as the members that attended the August Gathering our Rider Educator had other duty s, so I stepped in for him and we talked about Night riding. The objective was to discuss night riding techniques, ideas, and problems that one can expect to incur while riding after the sun goes down. WHY ARE YOU OUT: Going home from dinner ride, a Chapter function, trip and arriving home, work, There are many dangers involved with this time period of the day. ALERTNESS: One must be conscious to some degree to ride a motorcycle. The more awake, the better and fewer are the dents on the bike. Some are nocturnal and are naturally active durning the evening hours through morning. But the vast majority of us are diurnal, meaning we are active during the daylight and sleep at night. If you find that you must stay awake some things you can do: drink coffee, caffeine soda, jogging around the parking lot. Taking amphetamine or speed work fine if you know what you are doing, but they can screw up your body pretty bad with an overdose, so it is not avised. Cranl up the muscie open that face visor for some fresh air, take a potty break even if you don t need one, take frequent breaks, talk on the CB with others or to truckers, if you have trouble stay alert GET OFF THE BIKE! YOUR EYES: Your primary sense on the motorcycle is vision. Aren t too many blind motorcyclists out there, and vision does not get any better as we get older, it gets worse. Eat your vegetables and fruits rich in vitamin A, Carrots are very rich in Vitamin A. The normal person needs at least 30 minutes in a dark environment to atture their eyes to see well in the dark. CRITTERS: Nothing will shock you like suddenly seeing a deer in the road right ahead of you! Remember deer travel in groups, get on the brakes immediately and do that quick stop that you learned in the rider s course you took. Occasionally you will fine other and bigger critters in the road and remember dogs, cats raccoons, possum, snakes, alligators and on and on you know. TRUCK BLIND SPOTS---OTHER IDIOTS---AND DON T FORGET ROAD CONDITIONS---- -WEATHER!!!!!!! RIDE SAFE

News from our MEC s Ken & Roberta Badger Riding Season is in full swing, hopefully the rain is over. Lets make this a summer to remember. I need your help, if you have a ride in mind or an idea for one please let me know. Friends, Fun and riding go together!!! Remember you can call me at 317-441-9611, or e-mail me at kbadger@iquest.net if you have an idea for a ride.

Sour Grapes Ron & Sandi Mendenhall Only had one story for this month, Kerry Shue did not let us down. Apparently he had a late night craving for some refrigerator pickles one night after Annette had gone to bed. He got the quart jar out of the fridge, got some out and when done thought he had put the lid back on the jar. When he went to put it back in the fridge, it slipped out of his hand and when it hit the floor the lid came off. The sticky vinegar solution and just a few pickles went all over the floor, the front of the cabinets and fridge door. He worked for quite a while to clean up the sticky mess and thought he had most of it cleaned up. The next morning Annette came into the kitchen to make some coffee and her feet stuck to the floor, from spots he had missed. I think Annette made him get out of bed and do some more cleaning. He suggested it was her fault for not getting up and helping him clean it up the night before. What a brave man!!!! He may still have a few bruises from that comment!!! Kerry gets the sour grapes for this month!!!
