MCYC channel chatter The Friendliest Club on the River Since 1961 50990 Dike Road Scappoose Oregon 97056 www.mcyc1.org JULY 2018 A monthly publication of Multnomah Channel Yacht Club Commodores Comments Hi Everyone welcome to July! I saw the Columbia County Sheriff on the river and was talking to him regarding transient boats. I invited him to come to one of our meetings but he is super busy and cannot make it. He mentioned that as various counties evict these transient boats they go around looking for places to dock and live. If a boat approaches our docks with the intention of docking just tell them it is a private moorage and they are not allowed to dock. Our good intentions can be a problem with these people once they dock it can be really hard to get rid of them.it is best to send them along down the river. I know we are the friendliest club on the river but in this case I think we need to make it clear to any non-members that this is a private club and outside boats are not welcome unless invited. I really do not see this as a huge issue they usually go for places like Hadleys, Coon, Gilbert, St Helen s, etc. I just wanted to bring it to your attention. Just a reminder about Ladies Dinner coming up in September. Guys we need your help to serve and clean up. Ladies we need raffle prizes. This months Food Barrel item is canned tuna or canned chicken. Thanks for helping. On a more important note the OSU Beavers are the 2018 College World Series champs go Beavs!!! Have a great month and I will see you all soon. Stay healthy and safe! -Commodore Dave

Gilbert River Project MCYC members, we are underway on the fund raising for the Gilbert River Dock Project as discussed at the last General Meeting. I want to thank the MCYC Board on approving a MATCHING up to $1500 received from members. We have the support of CRYA with a large contribution, NOTS Boating Club with over $4,000 and we are up to $1375 from MCYC Members ( not including the MCYC matching funds) and it keeps growing. I want to thank the contributors of late: Sanderson, Senz, Prazan, Karpeles, Svela, Range, Atens. With the help of ALL members, my goal is to have $4000 total contribution from MCYC. If you are willing to support this project, please make a check out to MCYC and get it to me so I can keep the funds separate from the General Funds. If you have any questions, please call me 503 319 9245 or email lori.senz@comcast.net Pick up a current copy of the Freshwater News publication to see an article in there regarding the Project. The word is getting out!!! Lori Senz Vice Commodore
