Il Tempo strives to be an informative read that you look forward to. To this end, we are always appreciative of any contributions to it; perhaps an article of a project you are working on or are interested in, how to make or play a period game, your experience at an event, how/what to prepare for a day trip, a recipe/piece of garb that you've made, documentation on an item you've competed, a how-to on documentation, a few words on a historical person/event, photos, a book review, something to share with a newcomer; perhaps a short autobiography of your persona or how you came to figure out your persona. The list can go on for ages and is only limited by the speed at which our hands can write what our minds think. Come, share with us adventures in the great Barony of Ponte Alto, in the grand Kingdom of Atlantia, in this - the Current Middle Ages! News / Announcements Fall Crown Tournament Luxury Fabric Challenge! Or, how do I get the most bang for the buck from a limited amount of fabric? This challenge is designed to see how creatively you can use a small amount of fabric to create accessories, to best show off the fabric and coordinate with an outfit. You will also be required to fabricate a back-story, for how your challenge persona acquired the lovely fabric. Your definition of luxury fabric may be sheer silk, while another person s may be velvet or brocade, or even embroidered cotton. The purpose for this challenge is to push your creativity, not to bleed your pocketbook. More information here: https://docs.google.com/document/ d/1yir9fdqkndzmnfllnjgdervxinynm2dri0tuyogq_he/edit? usp=sharing ~ Lady Beibhinn Mhodartha (continued on next page)

PAGE 3 News & Announcements (Continued) ACCEPS registration is open for Chalice of the Sun God X: Chariot of Apollo on October 19th. You can access registration by going to http://acceps.ansteorra.org/index.php. Click on "Select Kingdom Here" and pick Atlantia from the list. We know that you've been working hard on A&S projects, perfecting Performance/Bardic Arts, getting your gear ready for heavy and rapier fighting as well as archery. All of Ponte Alto is looking forward to seeing what you bring, so bring it on! Our Baron and Baroness have announced that there will be a brewing competition in order for them to chose a Baronial Brewer. The competition is open to all ages; non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages are welcomed. There will also be an opportunity for children of all ages to build a simple catapult for the Children's Marshmallow Battle which will take place after the Chalice Champions are determined. A few catapults will be pre-made for those who wield larger weapons earlier in the day. More information can be found at http://pontealto.atlantia.sca.org/ events/chalice.php. PAGE 4 Tidbits from The (Nice!) Troll Under the Bridge Cameron de Grey posted the a funny piece of clipart on the Kingdom s Facebook Page. Since he is a web minister and archery marshal, he proposed a new hybrid badge of office. I think I like it! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It seems that Her Excellency is planning something for Battle on the Bay. At Pennsic, the time for Atlantia s Court kept changing. After asking Baron William to keep Pontoons posted, it turned out that as they approached, Court was already taking place! So she s asked Pontoons who are going to BoB on September 14th to get there for morning Court she s got mischief planned! We ll get the rest of the story for the next issue! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The SCA Board of Directors (BoD) is always interested in hearing commentary from it s members regarding proposals that are put forth. The most recent one is a proposal for an additional peerage for rapier. You can find the proposal letter at the following link: http://www.sca.org/bod/announcements/apecproposal.pdf Comments are encouraged and can be sent to: SCA, Inc., P.O. Box 360789, Milpitas, CA 95036. Comments can also be submitted electronically to comments@lists.sca.org.

Christine will take over the rest of the meeting as she begins the transition to Seneschal. Treasurer Daniel Bensing (Daniel); absent The bank balance is $9,026.71, though that will decrease since I need to write checks to Autocrats. In the transfer between Celia and I, our versions of Quicken aren t communicating well. So, I m working to re-enter data to catch up on quarterly reports. Knight Marshal Jeff Williams (Geoffrey)/Michael Schneider (Grimkirk) Michael will be transitioning into the job around the end of September. Rapier Marshal Jeff Williams (Geoffrey) Rapier continues one more time in the park then we move into the school though Sept. 19th will be in the park due to a school activity. Someone asked who are Rapier Youth Marshals; Jeff is one. Archery Marshal Nicholas Freer (Naran); absent continues at Needwood. Belvoir Bowhunters worked out a deal with Outdoor Recreation in order to shoot at that range any non-military SCA folks would need to join the Bowhunters group in order to shoot there. We need to somehow mark the old, large tree off-limits at past events at the Fairgrounds, lots of kids are climbing that tree and we need to worry about liability if one of them falls. Theresa will take care of signs and staking tape around the tree. Baron and Baroness Stephen and Liza Cicirelli (Drogo and Adina) June was their trip to Scotland; Stephen got to try on some cool armor after they talked to a curator (Liza has pictures!). Pennsic was AWESOME, except for the little glitch with the start time of Opening Ceremony. If you are going to Battle on the Bay, please get there early as we have some schtick for Baron William. At Pennsic, Stephen was awarded a Shark s Tooth; Their Royal Highnesses came to our Court. Reviewed Progress. Twelfth Night is in Washington D.C. this January.
