Volume 36 - Number 2 Established 1983 February 2019 Board Meeting - Febuary 13 WHAT! We just had a Board Meeting on January 9! Well, that s what happens at the beginning of each year and besides, the January meeting was the December meeting deferred to January. Hope this explains it. So, our next board meeting will be on Wednesday, February 13. Location is Denny s Restaurant, 6970 Alvarado, La Mesa. Time is 6:00 pm. We should have plenty of things to discuss as we start a new year and look forward to other activities after our installation luncheon in January. Even though the board looks similar to last year s, there have been a few changes and it is important that everyone invlolved is there if at all possible. Beware the Red Dot Showing at the Museum Showing now: Iconic Vehicles (Come and see what that means) Congratulations to all the following who observe their birthday in the shortest month of the year: Thanks to all who have already renewed your membership for 2019. However, there are many who haven t and if you find a RED DOT on your address label, or if you receive an e-mail message that we haven t heard from you yet, then please send in your renewal. We won t find anyone delinquent until after the Big-3 Swap meet at the end of February, but you might not find your name listed in the 2019 Membership Roster if you wait until then. 1 Ray Galdi Roy Galdi Donna Young 2 Denny Hafer 4 Charles Rudolph 5 Anne Lambrecht 6 Norman Kling 11 Jerry Yeardon 12 Bill Shumate 14 Jay Watkins, Sr. 29 Greg Rising The Ruckstell Review is the monthly publication of the Model T Ford Club of San Diego. Ruckstell Review Februry 2019 3rd Annual Vista Grande School Visit By Janna Laughon, Pictures by Janna and Jim Train Our December school visit had to be cancelled due to a thunderstorm, so we finally brought our cars to Vista Grande in El Cajon on Thursday, January 10. We had a fantastic turn-out of seven Model Ts! Three fourth grade classes (and a whole bunch of Janna s students from last year) thoroughly enjoyed the cars. In November, Janna taught the 4th graders about Henry Ford, the entrepreneur, and his marvelous Model T as part of Cajon Valley USD s World of Work curriculum. It was amazing how much the students remembered from those lessons. Club members sharing their Model Ts were Janna Laughon and Chuck West (1911 Touring), Bob Anderson (1914 Speedster), Jim Train (1924 Touring), Kirby Pray (1925 Touring), Norm Kling (1926 Touring), John Chapman (1926 Roadster), and Greg and Cathy Rising (1927 Touring). All the cars, except for the Rising s, drove to Vista Grande without being trailered. For Kirby and Jim, that was at least 26 miles one way! This was the first official showing of Janna s 1911 since 1991. She lives 2.5 miles from the school. Her car overheated at the 1.5 mile mark, but eventually made it to the school. Vista Grande wants us back next year, so get your Model Ts ready! Model Ts lined up and awaiting the students Explaining the similarities and differences between various Model Ts Interest from the students to what they see 4
