Traffic Safety Council - 4 - March 28, 2007 CALL TO ORDER 5:10 P.M. DECLARATIONS OF DIRECT (OR INDIRECT) PECUNIARY INTEREST - NIL PRESENTATIONS/DEPUTATIONS - NIL MATTERS CONSIDERED 1. Appointment of Chair and Vice-Chair Boris Swedak nominated David Brown as Chair and Councillor Frank Dale nominated Councillor Carmen Corbasson as Vice-Chair of Traffic Safety Council. There being no further nominations, Boris Swedak moved these appointments, which motion was voted on and carried. That David Brown be appointed as the Chair of Traffic Safety Council and that Councillor Carmen Corbasson be appointed as the Vice-Chair of Traffic Safety Council to November 30, 2010 or until a successor is appointed. Appointment of TSC members to Subcommittees The following citizen members were appointed to the following subcommittees: That Louise Goegan, Jaleel Siddiqui, David Raakman and Brian MacKinnon be appointed as members of the Public Information Subcommittee of Traffic Safety Council to November 30, 2008 or until a successor is appointed. Site Inspection Report Forest Glen Public School / St. Alfred Catholic School (Ward 3) Site Inspection Report for the inspection conducted on February 15, 2007 to review the Crossing Guard warrants at the intersection of Bloor Street and Fieldgate Drive. 1. That the status of the Crossing Guard located at the intersection of Bloor Street and Fieldgate Drive for the students attending Forest Glen Public School, 3400 Ponytrail Drive and St. Alfred Catholic School, 3341 Havenwood Drive remain unchanged at this time.

That the Site Inspection Subcommittee of Traffic Safety Council be requested to reinspect the Crossing Guard warrants at the intersection of Bloor Street and Fieldgate Drive in April 2007. RT.10.Forest Glen (W3) RT.10.St. Alfred See Recommendation TSC-0084-2007 (Councillor C. Corbasson) 5. Site Inspection Report St. Teresa of Avila Catholic School (Ward 9) Site Inspection Report for the inspection conducted on February 27, 2007 to review the Crossing Guard warrants at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic School, 6675 Montevideo Road. 1. That the request for a Crossing Guard in front of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic School, 6675 Montevideo Road be denied at this time and that the Site Inspection Subcommittee of Traffic Safety Council be requested to reinspect this location on a Monday, in the spring 2007. 2. That Transportation and Works be requested to install U-turn Prohibition signs on Montevideo Road in front of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic School and to install No Stopping signs from the north entrance of the school driveway to just south of the pedestrian underpass. 3. That Community Services be requested to make it a priority to replace the fence on the east side of the pedestrian underpass on Montevideo Road. Part 3 of the recommendation was amended by changing Community Services to Transportation and Works and by changing the fence to the steel railing. Ivan Sack moved the motion, as amended, which was voted on and carried. RT.10.St. Teresa (W9) See Recommendation TSC-0085-2007 (I. Sack) AMENDED/ 6. Site Inspection Report Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School (Ward 3) Site Inspection Report for the inspection conducted on February 28, 2007 to review the Crossing Guard warrants at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School, 1120 Runningbrook Drive.

Traffic Safety Council - 7 - March 28, 2007 1. That the request for a Crossing Guard at the intersection of Runningbrook Drive and Riverspray Drive for the students attending Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School, 1120 Runningbrook Drive be denied as the warrants have not been met and the all-way stop provides sufficient protection for crossing students. 2. That the Principal of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School be requested to ask the bus monitor to ensure that the school buses stop in the bus loading zone only to pick up and drop off students. 3. That Transportation and Works be requested to do the following on Runningbrook Drive: a) install no stopping intersection prohibitions on the school side b) extend the no stopping zone opposite the school on the east side to the next light standard. Site Inspection Report Champlain Trail Public School/St. Gertrude Catholic School(Ward 5) Site Inspection Report for the inspection conducted on March 7, 2007 to review the Crossing Guard warrants at the intersection of Bristol Road and Guildwood Way/Shackleton Way. 1. That one Crossing Guard located at the intersection of Bristol Road and Guildwood Way/Shackleton Way for the students attending Champlain Trail Public School, 895 Ceremonial Drive and St. Gertrude Catholic School, 815 Ceremonial Drive be removed at the end of June 2007 as the installation of traffic signals provides safe crossing for pedestrians and that the remaining Crossing Guard cross the students in an L from the southwest corner of the intersection. 2. That the Site Inspection Subcommittee of Traffic Safety Council be requested to re-inspect the Crossing Guard warrants at the intersection of Bristol Road and Guildwood Way/Shackleton Way for the students attending Champlain Trail Public School, 895 Ceremonial Drive and St. Gertrude Catholic School, 815 Ceremonial Drive in the fall 2007. Traffic Safety Council - 8 - March 28, 2007 8. Site Inspection Report Churchill Meadows Public School (Ward 9) Site Inspection Report for the inspection conducted on March 8, 2007 to review the Crossing Guard warrants at the intersection of McDowell Drive and Delle Donne Drive. 1. That Community Services (Recreation and Parks Division) be requested to construct a sidewalk from the school driveway at Churchill Meadows Public School, 3310 McDowell Drive to link with the Churchill Meadows Community Common Park parking lot, on the west side. 2. That the Peel District School Board be requested to clear the School Zone Safety (Kiss & Ride) through lane on the school driveway of snow to render it usable at Churchill Meadows Public School. 3. That the Principal of Churchill Meadows Public School be requested to: a) ask the volunteer on duty in the morning for the School Zone Safety (Kiss & Ride) Program to encourage vehicles to move ahead in the Kiss & Ride by monitoring disembarking students at the east end of the school driveway. b) ask the volunteer on duty for dismissal who monitors the entrance driveway to encourage students to cross McDowell Drive on the west leg of the intersection of McDowell Drive and Delle Donne Drive. 4. That Parking Enforcement be requested to enforce the parking/stopping violations on Delle Donne Drive and McDowell Drive in front of Churchill Meadows Public School, 8:15 8:35 am and 2:45 3:05 pm. 5. That subsequent to parts 1 to 4 above, that the Site Inspection Subcommittee of Traffic Safety Council be requested to reinspect the Crossing Guard warrants at the intersection of McDowell Drive and Delle Donne Drive. Jim Wilde advised that Traffic Safety Council had been asking the School Board for many years to remove the snow from the property and not just relocate it. Mr. Wilde suggested that a letter from Traffic Safety Council be sent to the School Boards in the fall to remind them of this issue. The Committee agreed and the Clerk s Office will prepare the letter in the fall. The question was raised as to when this re-inspection would take place and it was decided that rather than wait for all the items to be done, that a re-inspection should take place in the fall 2007. Site Inspection Report Britannia Public School (Ward 11) Site Inspection Report for the inspection conducted on March 2, 2007 to review the Crossing Guard warrants in front of Britannia Public School, 1145 Swinbourne Drive. 1.
