MCYC February 2017 channel chatter The Friendliest Club on the River Since 1961 50990 Dike Road Scappoose Oregon 97056 www.mcyc1.org A monthly publication of Multnomah Channel Yacht Club THE MARCH GENERAL MEETING DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED TO FRIDAY MARCH 31 As I write this, freezing rain once again covers PDX, half the crew did not make it into work and I am sure I will come home to more broken tree limbs. That is the bad news, the good news is that next weekend temps are in the mid fifty's, so weather is no excuse for not making the Sweethearts Cruise February 10 12. There has been some talk of moving the cruise destination but as it stands, Coon East is the spot. The inclement weather did not stop roughly 70 partiers from attending the MCYC Commodores Ball which once again was a blast! Planning is already in the works for next years ball with a tentative date of 01/20/18. Regarding what has been going on at the club, not much other than trying to keep things afloat. Thanks to all members that have kept the roofs and docks clear of snow and have kept the water running. Our next big event is the St Patty's Day Cruise in. If Bob Gedde has not been in contact with you be assured he will be. If we all pitch in just a little, it will be not only a success but no one person will have to carry the load. Hope to see you on the river! Commodore: Gib

Joe s Jokes As Seen on Road Signs Stop trying to make everyone happy, you are not tequila! Be who you needed when you were young. If you have to choose between drinking wine every day or being skinny, which would you choose? Red or white? If you have a gun, you can rob a bank. But if you have a bank, you can rob everyone! Be decisive. Right or wrong, make a decision. The road of life is paved with flat squirrels that could not make a decision. If a woman says First of All during an argument, run away, because she has prepared research, data, charts, and will destroy you. Never make a woman mad. They can remember stuff that hasn t even happened yet. A wise man once said nothing. Arguing with a woman is like reading the software license agreement. In the end you have to ignore everything and click I agree Don t try to understand women. Women understand women and they hate each other. Some things are just better left unsaid. And I usually realize it right after I say them. Behind every angry woman, stands a man who has absolutely no idea what he did wrong. Been there, done that. Then been there several more times, because apparently I never learn. Attention! The March General Meeting Date has been changed to Friday, March 31 QUICK DESSERT You need 2 boxes of cake mix. One can be any flavor you prefer, but the other MUST be Angel Food cake mix. Mix them together ( shake them in a big plastic bag). Store the mixture in an air tight container until you get the urge for dessert.then just put 3 tbs. Of the dry mixture in a big coffee mug ( you can wipe the inside of the cup with cooking spray for easy removal ) and stir in 2 tbs of water. Microwave it for one minute and you will have a single serving of cake! Top with fruit, ice cream, whipped cream or whatever! Awesome for those of us who want something sweet every now and then without making an entire cake!
