Itinerary Basics The Trip is April 4-10, 2020. We leave on a Saturday and return on Thursday night, arriving back on a Friday morning. We will be staying in the hotel for five nights, and may be travelling in pods in separate flights. Each flight will have a faculty or staff member in charge. As we are performing as a group, there will be rehearsals before we depart. All rehearsals will be announced well in advance and trip participants must attend rehearsals. Included Meals: 5 Breakfasts, 2 Lunches, 4 Dinners On-your-own-meals: 2 Lunches (Polynesian Day, Catamaran Day), 1 Dinner, and possibly a lunch before we depart, depending on flight times. There should be meals on the airplane included in the ticket.
Trip Rules and Procedures NO STUDENT IS TO BE ALONE EVER. GROUPS OF THREE OR MORE ARE MANDATORY AT ALL TIMES. If you are given a badge or lanyard, you must wear it whenever you are out in public. All students must be present and in person for check-ins. No text check-ins. No one can be in the shower during a room check. All school rules apply. If you violate school policies on drugs or alcohol, you will be reported and sent home at your family s expense. Students with grade or discipline issues may not be allowed to attend the trip. As we are starting payments in the school year prior to the trip, a student could be denied permission to go after payments have been made.
Departure Hawaii 2020 Lakeside Viking Band, Chorus, and Orchestra
Flying with Lakeside Everyone will be given an arrival time and possibly an instrument to check when we get to the airport. Chorus students may be assigned instruments or equipment as well. We should have all luggage costs included in the price of the trip. You will be asked to put a luggage tag and possibly a color code on your luggage, depending on flight schedule. If we fly in pods on different flights, a pod manager will be assigned. These will be either faculty or marching band staff. The pod manager will be in charge of that pod. We will take attendance each morning in these groups! Students who will be under the age of 18 do not need any identification to fly. If you are under 18, do not show ID to anyone. We will have a precheck group and a standard group go through security together. Faculty members will be with both groups.

Optional Items If we get enough people and costs drop, we may get trip hats or shirts for everyone. On each trip, we have been able to give one or the other. We may have some free time on Thursday before we leave to get in an optional activity. Students can either go to the beach after we check out or choose to visit Ala Moana Mall (it s huge and has a lot of souvenirs that are cheaper than near the hotel) or pay a visit to the Honolulu Zoo (which is a lot of fun), or go on a shop and walk in a group. We would need to take a trolley to the mall and there is a cost for the zoo, but it isn t much. This would be organized after the flights have been determined and we know who is flying home when. Some of us go to a Lakeside traditional Dinner with Dr. Mike at Mac24/7 when we arrive. This is also optional, and we may go more than once.

Parent Needs Chaperones: Anyone wishing to chaperone should go ahead and register themselves and email Mr. Fitz, Ms. B, Mr. Mac, or Dr. F so we can keep a list. Shipping Equipment: Anyone with ties to shipping or airline cargo companies that would be willing to help us ship instruments at a reduced cost or for free should contact us immediately. This could lower the cost for all students. Fundraising: We are working to host at least two fundraisers solely to lower the cost for students on the trip. If you are interested in helping to run one of these, please let us know. We could use the help!
