Thanks to all of you who pitched in and did a fantastic job. Our buddies, Ron and Babs Jarvis came down to help because due to the date change our chief cook, Mike Haslup and our kitchen supervisor, Fran Haslup were unable to attend. Thanks to Ron for stepping back up to the monstrous stove and to Judy Patishnock for filling Fran s shoes, which she did fantastically. Also thanks to Sue & Bill Jacobs for doing the cooking; Babs, Kay & Dick Bond, Linda Hartman, Kevin Paul, Rick & Cathy Brown, Judy Patishnock, Steve Kelley, Sue Miller, Alice Surette and Chris and Marge Nagel for setting things up and decorating; Dick & Kay, Kevin and Will Berrell for serving like pros that they are; Neal & Carol Reynolds for handling the drinks and ice cream; Sue and Wendy for checking people Cathy in; Marge and Linda for selling bingo packets; Pete calling Bingo and the dessert auction; Chris for running money and desserts to the bingo and auction winners; Barbie for washing pots & pans; and everyone who stayed to clean up, especially Barbie and Mardee Berrell who handled the mop and bucket this year. Thank you everyone! And thank you again this year to Spanky Barth from MD-L for bringing and setting up the PA system. We were also honored to have not only our District Directors, Bruce Hill and Regina Smith, but also our Region B Couple of the Year, Denny & Kathy Brillhart. It was good to see them as they had to leave WinterThing early due to a medical emergency. Mike and Shirley Prince, our National, Assistant Directors, Membership Enhancement Program, Chapter of the Year Coordinators were also there, as usual, just with a new, very long title. Also Bob & Julie A Hearn, Region B Chapter of the Year Coordinators attended with Chapter I. Thanks to Everyone for a fun night! Chapter Meeting - 4th Sunday at the Golden Corral, Aberdeen, MD Breakfast 8:00A.M./Meeting 9:00A.M.

This month we have the District Bowl-A-Thon on Mar 8. Those who signed up should be at the bowling alley at 6322 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie MD by 11:15 am. We ve made a tradition out of visiting Chapter C s gathering the morning before bowling since it is in Glen Burnie also. I will be attending, arriving at 9am, not 8. Let me know if you want to join me. Our 9 th Annual Frozen Chosen ride will be Saturday, Mar 14. Chris Nagel will lead us to a nice restaurant in the country for lunch this year so be sure to join us. It s not called the Frozen Chosen for no reason, so be sure to dress warm. We are to meet Chris, fueled and ready to ride at 10:30 at the WaWa at Routes 1 and 136 for about a 1 ½ hour ride. The very next day, Mar 15, we (the Kelleys) will host a potluck at our house at 3pm. Since this is near St. Patrick s Day and we are of Irish descent we will have Irish Stew and Corned Beef and cabbage. Please let me know what sides or desserts you will bring. I will send an email to get the attendee list, but if you don t have email, please call me on 443-417-0441. Chapter Staff meeting will be at my house Wed March 18 7pm. District Staff Meeting March 21 at 10 am at Adam s Ribs 169 Mayo Rd, Edgewater, MD 21037 (410) 956-2995. I just received some flyers in the mail from a campground in Southern Virginia that caters to motorcyclists. It s called Fancy Gap Cabins & Campground and is right off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Fancy Gap VA. The flyers will be on the table at the gatherings. They are open May 1 Oct 31 and have motel rooms and cabins as well as campsites. That may be a nice place to stop when going to rallies in the south. Last Chance! We have raffle tickets for the region fundraiser. These will be turned in March 8, so call me if you are interested in buying some. The raffle starts the first of April and runs for the whole month and is based on the PA lottery. There will be 30 winning numbers drawn during the month. One (1) winner receives $250 Twelve (12) winners receive $100 Seventeen (17) winners receive $50! Tickets are only $5. You could be a big winner. I was last year. Rider Education Rodney Malone Greetings everyone, we are all done with February and hopefully soon the cold weather. Hard to believe we will soon be adjusting our clocks up an hour as it s nearly time to Spring Forward. I found the message and tips below on line regarding the importance of being seen on a motorcycle, posted by a Mr. Basem Wasef (motorcycle expert). "I never saw the rider" is one of the most common things automobile drivers say after they've struck a motorcyclist, an unfortunate reflection on how easy it is for riders to slip under the radar. Here are tips on how to stay visible while you ride. The most obvious ways to avoid being hit is by staying out of the blind spots of other vehicles and by giving yourself enough room to react. Ways to do so include: * Making sure you can see the drivers of the cars around you; if you can see them (through eye contact or in their mirrors), chances are you're in their line of sight... but never assume anything. * Creating a safety buffer around you which means leaving enough distance ahead of you, and giving yourself space to maneuver away from trouble. * Avoid lingering in the blind spots created by the A-pillars and C-pillars of cars; those are the front 3/4 and rear 3/4 angle views out of the driver seat. Passing can be a dangerous maneuver, so be especially aware when overtaking a car or another rider. As we look forward towards our upcoming Frozen Chosen ride to kick off the 2015 riding season, I wanted to share with you what too many will consider basic knowledge. Continually reviewing the basics and practicing these techniques remains our best defense against what can often be avoidable accidents. Ride Safe, Be Prepared and Have Fun Rodney

Spaghetti Bingo Photos Linda & Marge love selling bingo packages! Chris is ready to take some desserts to the lucky person when Pete says Going, Going, Gone! Rodney hands the quilt rack to Spanky Barth from MD-L Charles Simms won the quilt raffle. Chris holds the all natural cherry pie that Carol Reynolds donated for auction. The pie he really, really wanted. And Marge won it for him! Barbie, Dick & Babs blow up balloons as Cathy and Judy check things out behind them.

Greetings from the ACD Judy and Shane Patishnock So far 2015 has been an interesting year weather-wise and we ve sure had our fair share of snow events, which caused the postponement of our scheduled 21 Feb Spaghetti Bingo to 28 Feb as well as the cancellation of our chapter meeting. Spaghetti Bingo was a big success and as always, a great way to see old friends and make new ones! A Thank You goes to all the various in- and out-of-state GWRRA Chapter Members whose attendance continue to make our Spaghetti Bingo a success!! And for our very own Chapter H members who came and put their skills to use it wouldn t be as successful without everyone s help and assistance a big Thank You to y all. Unfortunately due to the postponement, Mike and Fran Haslup were unable to be there as they already had a commitment for the weekend. A little Ch H background history, for many years Mike Haslup and Ronnie Jarvis did the cooking together, then Ronnie and Babs moved back to PA, and Mike took over the kitchen. This is not to say that Mike was alone in the kitchen as there s typically someone there to lend a helping hand but I digress. So Fran and Mike asked Ronnie if he would be able to come back to do the spaghetti, sauce, and meatballs for us and, as usual, Ronnie and Babs were there for us. So a Special Thank You to Ronnie and Babs Jarvis!! Since Fran wasn t there to oversee the operations, that fell to me. So I m saying Thank You to all those who worked so faithfully, whether in the kitchen cooking, prepping or serving food, checking in our guests, selling bingo or raffle tickets, or setting up the tables it was a job well done! I also w ant to acknowledge Cathy Kelley and Shane Patishnock for their donations to our raffle Cathy made the pretty Christmas Dogs quilt throw (who doesn t love Christmas accessories for their home!) and Shane hand-crafted and hand-finished the solid wood Quilt Rack, designed to display a treasured family antique (or new) quilt as well as other favorite collectibles on the top shelf. Thank You for taking the time to make such beautiful items! 123152 Well I didn t get an article in February s newsletter as I left on 1 Feb for a week long work conference, then took a couple days leave to see a friend (I did like those warmer climes in Florida!). I guess Cathy forgot that I was to be gone because when I returned to work on the 12 th there were several emails from her unfortunately they were not sent to my personal email as well so I didn t receive them. So my article never got sent as needless to say nothing ever works as planned. I took my personal laptop with me but was unable to access the Internet at the hotel where I was staying as their personnel said we switched providers and are having some Internet issues but it should be up and running tomorrow. Sadly when it came to the Internet, their tomorrow didn t seem to happen (I heard the same complaint from some other hotel guests although a couple folks did tell me they got some spotty connections during the daytime). So since this didn t make the Feb newsletter, here s a brief recap of our Winners from our January Chapter Meeting: Shirt & Vest: Fran Haslup 50/50s: 10% - Charley Fogg ($11.00) 15% - Wendy Mack ($18.00) 25% - Shane Patishnock ($28.00) Progressive: Pete Surette (Sorry Pete you won but weren t here to collect!) Numbers in Newsletters: December: Lezlee Brown (not in attendance at January s meeting) January: Barb Aspinall

Don t forget to mark your calendars and plan to attend March upcoming events: 8 Mar District Bowl-a-Thon (note this is a pre-register event and registration/money due by 28 Feb) 14 Mar Frozen Chosen Ride (details in Cathy s article) 14 Mar MD CH B 25 th Anniversary; 1400-1600, cost $40pp, registration/money deadline 7 Mar (note this is a pre-register event; there will be no admission at the door) 15 Mar Kelley s Potluck (details in Cathy s article) 19 Mar CH H Staff Meeting 21 Mar District Meeting (details to follow) 22 Mar CH H Meeting @ Golden Corral Gold and Wing Update: Unfortunately Gold and Wing didn t make it airborne before the snow hit! They are still buried in the snow! Hmmm does anyone know if flamingoes can withstand snow (and now ice)? Time will tell Shane and Judy Ride Safe and Keep the Shiny Side Up! Raffle Donations: Cathy Kelley s Christmas Dog s Quilt Throw & Shane Patishnock s solid wood Quilt Rack. Ronnie Jarvis starting the spaghetti sauce, noodles, and meatballs.
