The Sir ~ LAKE TAHOE BRANCH 160~ CHARTEERED APRIL 22, 1991 RETIRED AND SEMI- RETIRED MEN GETTING TOGETHER FOR LUNCH AND ENJOYING OUR VARIOUS ACTIVITIES HIGH MOUNTAIN NEWS SEPTEMBER 2015 WE MEET THE FOURTH MONDAY OF THE MONTH Next reg. meeting our 300TH SEPTEMBER 28, 2015. We meet at Tep s Villa Roma Officers & Chairmen.10:00am...3450 Lake Tahoe Blvd (Hiway50) Social hour..11:00am South Lake Tahoe, California Luncheon 12:00noon.Across from the Bijou Center FROM THE BIG SIR MIKE DAVIS O ur local branch of the SIR organization cannot survive unless we work to make that happen. We all enjoy the benefits of membership, or we wouldn't be here. One of the most important items is the luncheon speaker. These programs are interesting and informative. (Well, maybe the talk about prostate problems wasn't entertaining, but sure was informative) The job of the Little SIR is to line up these speakers. As of now, no one has stepped up to fill this position for 2016. Van Marshall says he has lots of ideas for next years' speakers that he is willing to share. Please, someone, step up and be the 2016 Little SIR. The other open position is that of Activities Director. I am not sure this position can be effectively filled. The last Director worked his ass off trying to fine activities with enough interest to continue. I think we can continue without this position being filled. Bowling and golf are doing fine. If you have some activity you love that needs more participation, bring it up in the luncheon meeting. I have volunteered to be Webmaster. Robert Fleisher has been a great help teaching me the ropes of this position. I hope to be up to speed by the end of the year. Van will be in charge for the September meeting. I am going to be on a cruise. See you later. 1.

LITTLE SIR VAN MARSHALL I want to say Congratulations to Dave Tiongco, our Golf Club Champion of The Year with a net score of 66. Well done, Dave! Our speaker for September will be JoAnn Conner from the South Lake Tahoe Cancer League. JoAnn has a background in journalism, education, retail loss prevention and business. She is also a graduate of the Identity Theft Course through Iowa State University. The Cancer League is completely organized and ran by volunteers, dedicated to serving the population of Lake Tahoe and surrounding areas. The purpose of the organization is to drive cancer patients to treatments, provide emotional support and provide grants to help with living expenses while a person is going through treatment. They hold several fundraiser events each year to raise the money to help local families fight cancer. Monday, August 2015 SIR Branch 160 Board of Directors/Executive Committee Meeting South Lake Tahoe, CA. The scheduled meeting of SIR Branch 160 for June was held at Tep s Villa Roma restaurant. Big Sir: Mike Davis called the meeting to order at 10:10 AM. A quorum of the Branch Executive Committee (BEC) was present. The minutes for the June, 2014 meeting was tabled for review and comment. A motion to approve the minutes as they stood was made and approved by the membership. Treasurer s Report: Chuck Garber handed out copies of Form 28 Cash Balances for July 2015. Chuck reported the cash balance for the month ending was $2667.05. Little Sir Report: Van Marshall reported that the annual picnic attendance was about the same as last year, around 70. Van felt we needed to improve the attendance numbers and execution of the picnic set up and asked for suggestions. A suggestion to change the venue to Lampe park was made. This park came with lots of shaded areas. This would eliminate the task of setting up and taking down the canopies. A lot of work!!! Other suggestions were: elect a chairperson for the picnic; Use formal checklists; change menu to hamburgers and hot dogs; ask for volunteer chairperson at the luncheon meeting. Activities Report: None made Membership Report: George Ramirez reports that are no new members and two drop outs this month. George requested that all members need to be encouraged to look for new members and invite them to our luncheon. Attendance: no report made Sunshine Report: Mike Vadnais reported that Ron Biegler passed away in July. Mike also recently sent out get well cards to four of our members. 2.

Bowling Report: Bobby Silvius reports that he would be looking for help in managing bowling tournaments. The upcoming tournament is scheduled for September 18 and 19 here in Tahoe. Golf Report: No report Website: Mike Davis volunteered to take this on and will get into it by October. Old Business: The nominating committee stated they had a full slate of officers for year 2016. The slate will voted on at the luncheon. New Business: Mike Davis will be added to the 2016 Directors and Dave Tiongco will become an honorary Director. The executive board meeting was adjourned by Mike Davis at 10:37 AM. Bobby Silvius and I thank all of you associated with the Branch who participated in, contributed to and helped administer the tournament! The tournament came off without a hitch; it was almost as if we knew what we were doing Branch 160 owes special thanks to Jason Agnew, Manager of Tahoe Bowl, for having his establishment in great shape for us and the food served at the 11 th Frame was excellent!
