Fair greetings unto Terra Pomaria s populace! The Privy Barony of Terra Pomaria Baron and Baroness swords It s been an occasionally nerve-racking, somewhat hectic, sometimes upsometimes down and wonderful month since having been invested as your new Baron and Baronessa. Again thanks to all who made Winter s End 2011 a memorable event. With tourney season approaching, we have prepared a progress calendar and it should be on the Baronial web site shortly. Summits Coronet was cancelled and we are waiting to hear what the next step will be in holding the tournament. We will be visiting our cousins to the south at Adiantum s Birthday Bash, 2 April. We look forward to seeing many of you at the Riverfront Faire Demo on 9 April. We see this event not only as an opportunity to show off our members skills and knowledge to the public, but as an investment in newcomers. That investment cannot be fully realized unless Bargemels is a successful first-time event for these people. Step forward and volunteer your time and service to the Bargemels autocrat. We ask all of you to make award recommendations. It is easy and you do not have to recommend a specific award. If you see or know of someone who has performed an act of kindness, done an unexpected service, toiled in the background or made something well, get that person s name and write a few lines of explanation. Hand your note to us, send it by email to bb.terrapomaria(at)gmail.com or use the awards recommendation link on the baronial web site. Do not wait until the next event or reminder to make a recommendation, make one while the thought is still fresh in your mind. Your effort will help us keep in touch with our populace and greatly help in giving awards to deserving individuals. We close this missive with wishes of good health and long life to all. Courtesy of Baron Michael and Baronessa Francesca Name Your Baron Contest at Bargemels! Greetings to the gentle populace of fair Terra Pomaria! At this past month's Ceilidh, We announced a special contest for Bargemels. The Baron has been informed by several stalwart personages within the Barony that his use of the name, Michael of Terra Pomaria, is not very suitable to his new role in the Society. After much thought and consideration, your Baron has decided the best way to handle this would be to ask Our most imaginative and resourceful friends for aid in helping to... Name Your Baron!!! All entrants are encouraged to ask the Baron questions about himself to help inspire you (or just wing it! per Francesca) to create either a name or, even better, a name and a brief accompanying biography (no more than half a page). You can reach Baron Michael for questions at strobel_m83(at)comcast.net or by phone at 503-581 -5901. The Baronessa will sponsor a specific category requiring that the name Michael be used. There are other categories and prizes for the winners. The Baron reserves the right to not use any of the winning names when actually registering a name with the College of Heralds. The Lions Blood Herald, HL Elizabeth Turner de Carlisle, graciously offered a special "prize" of making the registration payment for the new name the Baron chooses to register. All entries may be emailed to given to either of Their Excellencies by noon of Saturday the 30th of April at Bargemels. Multiple entries are permitted. Entrants need not be populace members of Terra Pomaria. Entrants need not be present to win. Winning entries will be read out during the feast Saturday evening to the edification and entertainment of all. Let the pun begin! Name Your Baron!

Riverfront Faire Saturday April 9th at Riverfront Park in Salem The Barony of Terra Pomaria will be hosting a demonstration for the public of our society. In order to have a successful event we need the members of the Barony to offer their aid and support. Beginning at 8:30am we will need assistance with creating the village that will last for the day. At 10:00 we should be ready to have the public stroll about and see the many exhibits of clothing, armory, food, and much more. They will be able to walk by as our bards sing and play instruments. And they can look at all of us in our finery and talk with us about the society and history. Be aware they may become distracted by the sounds of weapons hitting shields as the golden apple tournament occurs. We will again need your help at 5:00 as our village once again become a public park and the pavilions and banners come down. Riverfront Demo Come and be a part of this and lend your aide, support, or just yourself sitting about working on a craft you might drag along to any event. Allow others to experience what we have to opportunity to see and do during the year. Please remember that this is for the public so disguising mundane items is highly encouraged. A simple cloth across a modern chair goes a long way, and having your drink in a period container is excellent. After demo Meeting end: 7:53p Chronicler s Words Greetings unto the very patient Barony of Terra Pomaria! I want to thank you all for your patience with me during my rather rocky start. With this combined March/April issue I am caught up and should be on track for next month (though I can still use pictures!) I know many in the Barony were disappointed when Coronet had to be cancelled. Never fear, for as you can see, we have some very exciting events of our own happening soon : the Demo on April 9th, followed at the end of the month by Bar Gemels! While neither of these events are on the same level as Coronet, they are both near and dear to my heart, as they are how I was introduced to the SCA in general and this wonderful group of people in particular. Just three short years ago seems like much longer. If you are not already planning on joining us for the Demo, please consider participating; it should be lots of fun, and a great way to meet new people and to make of them new friends. Even if you can only be there for a little while, every person enriches this Barony with their efforts, and a demo can be a relaxed environment to showcase who we are and what we do. And, of course, we can always use help with set-up and take-down many hands make light work, and many friends make work fun. Bar Gemels looks to be a very fun event this year, with the revival or continuance of lots of the old traditions including the annual Bar Wench Smackdown while introducing new activities that promise to be just as entertaining. I hope to see many of you there! Once things have calmed down a little, please think about contributing an article or pictures to the Privy. I would love to be able to publish articles written by my fellow citizens, and pictures are often better than words to tell the history of what has taken place, around our Barony, our Principality and our Kingdom. I look forward to seeing your words in here along with mine. Yours in Service, Alyna Trewpeny
