Read through preschool leader guide several times throughout the week to familiarize yourself with what to say, how long it should take, and the order of activities. 2. Watch the Bible story video. 3. Preview the worship songs and get familiar with the motions to help lead your preschoolers in worship. 2. Arrive on time to tag in briefly with the team, set up activity materials, and connect with early arrivers. 3. Teach kids about God s Word with energy! WHAT YOU NEED (provided for you) -baby dolls -baby bibs -baby bottles -yellow items (from around the room) - Stick Story Figures pages -craft sticks (3 per kids) -glue sticks -sandwich bags - Frame pages -stickers - Parent Notes cards -fruit snack -hand sanitizer -smarties -drive time cards -Week 3 DVD
SOCIAL Ready, Set, Wait Welcome kids as they enter your room with energy. Use the first 2 social activities during the social time as an option for kids to do as they check in. CUE: Play high energy music. -Guide the children to stand in a line in front of you. -Give the children a movement to do and ask them to wait to do it until you say, GO. -Tell the children, Ready, set, WAIT! -The children will look at you confused, but just smile and say, Ready, set, WAIT again. -Tell the children to be sure to wait until you say, GO, before they do the movement. -Then say, Ready, set, GO! Have the children do the movement you called out. -Movements: Jump, spin, raise hands, stomp, touch toes, and wiggle. WHAT YOU SAY: I am going to give you a fun movement to do, and as soon as I say, GO, you can do it! Are you ready? (Pause.) Be sure you hear me say, GO, before you do it. Our first movement is JUMP! Don t jump yet. Wait until I say, GO. Ready, set, WAIT! (Pause.) Good job! (Continue with activity.) You did an awesome job waiting! Sometimes it is hard to wait. Today we are going to hear a Bible story that tells us that sometimes God wants us to wait. I m so excited! 1 SOCIAL Baby -Place all of the baby dolls, bibs, and bottles in the activity area. -Encourage the children to play with the dolls. -Challenge the children to feed and dress the babies. -Be sure each child has a turn to play with the dolls. WHAT YOU SAY: I see babies that need us to take care of them. (Point.) Let s work together to feed, dress, and keep the babies warm. (Do activity.) Great job! You are really good at taking care of the babies. We are going to hear a Bible story today about someone who has a BABY. How exciting! 2
SOCIAL Yellow Match WHAT YOU SAY: Friends! It s time to clean up so I can show you something really cool! Let s work together to clean up and when you are finished come sit with me! CUE: Clean Up Song (on DVD) at 9:45a/11:15a. Give kids about five minutes to clean up and sit near you. -Gather several yellow items from around the room (yellow dishes and foods from the play kitchen, yellow paper, yellow toys, etc.) and hide them in easily found places around the room. -Count how many items you ve hidden so you can make sure the children find them all. -Gather the children in an open area of the room. Explain that you ve hidden a certain number of yellow items around the room for them to find. -Once they find something yellow, they should return to the center of the room with their item(s). WHAT YOU SAY: Today we re going on a yellow hunt! I ve hidden [number] yellow things around the room. Do you think you can find them all? Let s work together and go on a yellow search! Great job, friends! You found all the yellow things on our yellow search. I love the color blue, don t you? Today we ll hear about something yellow in our Bible story. I can t wait! 3 Transition to the large group space for worship by having the children follow you around the room to your space. WORSHIP CUE: Doesn t Matter music video. 4
STORY Bible Story Yay! I m so glad to see you today! It s so much fun to sing with you. And I love learning all about God with you. This month has been full of colors as we learn about how God keeps His promises. Who keeps His promises? God keeps His promises! That s right friends. Today we have an extra special story because we get to learn about a little baby! So turn on your listening ears and let s see what promise God will keep today! CUE: Bible Story video. God kept His promise to Abraham, and He will keep His promise to you too. God keeps His promises even if we have to wait. So tell me: Who keeps His promises? God keeps His promises! Yes, He does! And I m so glad. Let s pray and thank God for always keeping His promises to us. Heavenly Father, thank You for the story of Abraham and Sarah. Thank You that even though it was hard to wait, You still kept Your promise to them. Help us to remember that even if we have to wait, if You say You will do something, You will. We can know for sure that You will keep Your promises to us because You love us. In Jesus name we pray, amen. 5 GROUPS Snack and Memory Verse -Transition kids to tables for snack. -Pass out hand sanitizer and ask a kid to pray for the snack. -Give each kid a pack of Mott s fruit gummy s. -Allow kids a minute for a break; use this time for bathroom breaks. -Introduce memory verse using the instructions below. WHAT YOU SAY: This month we have a Bible verse from 2 Samuel 22:31! Repeat after me! Trust the LORD (point both index fingers straight up in the air) with all (stretch your arms out wide) your heart. (bring both hands together over your heart) Proverbs 3:5 (Open your hands like a book.) 6
GROUPS Stick Storytelling -You ll need one set of stick figures for each child. -Place three craft sticks and a set of Activity Page cards in front of each child s spot around the tables. -Make sure the glue sticks are within the children s reach. -Encourage the children to use the glue sticks to glue the cards onto the craft sticks one square per stick. -When finished, point out the different things they see on each stick and have them hold up each one as you review today s Bible story. WHAT YOU SAY: You should have three craft sticks in front of you and three different pictures. Let s use the glue sticks to glue a picture to each craft stick. When you ve finished, we can talk about today s truly amazing, totally true Bible story! (Allow time for kids to glue.) Everyone hold up the craft stick with the stars. Do you remember how God told Abraham to look up at the stars? And then He promised him that Abraham would have more children and grandchildren and great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren than the stars in the sky! What a BIG promise. Abraham and his wife Sarah go ahead and hold up that stick didn t have ANY children yet. And they probably thought they weretoo old to have a baby. But was that promise too big for God? (Pause.) No way! Because we ve learned all month that God keeps His promises. 7 GROUPS How Long? -Guide the kids to stand in front of you. -Ask the children to do the following movements. Repeat as desired. 1. How long can you wait to blink? 2. How long can you hold out your arm? 3. How long can you stand on one foot? 4. How long can you wait to sit down? WHAT YOU SAY: Today we talked about how God always keeps His promises even if we have to wait. Waiting can be hard. So let s practice! Let s try to see how long we can WAIT before blinking our eyes! (Demonstrate and pause.) Great job! Now let s see if we can hold out our arms and WAIT a long time before we put them down. (Demonstrate and pause.) WOW! You waited a long time. Now let s all stand on one foot and see how long we can wait before we put it down. (Demonstrate and pause.) Great job! (Finish activity.) You did a great job waiting! 8
GROUPS Pray WHAT YOU SAY: -Follow me! (Take two steps.) Wait! (Freeze for a few seconds.) Okay, follow me. (Take a few more steps.) Wait! (Freeze for a few seconds.) Okay, follow me. (Take a few more steps.) Wait! (Continue doing this as you lead the children to your prayer group spot.) Today we are going to make a list of things we need God to help us with. It can be anything! When I say your name, just tell me what it is and I ll write it in our journal. (Say each child s name and write down what they say. Remember to print the names so the children can recognize their names and the letters.) Thank you for making this list. I want us to pray together now. Dear God, You are so good to us. Thank You for always hearing us when we talk to You. We have some special prayers today. We re asking for help with things only You can do. Will You help [child s name] with (read what they listed) and (repeat for each child). Help us to wait for You like Abraham and Sarah had to wait. We know You love us and always keep Your promises. We love You, God. In Jesus name, amen. 9 HOME Frame -Give each child a frame and some stickers or foam shapes. -Help the children place the stickers or shapes around the frame. -Send home the note with the frame and encourage the families to add a picture to the frame. -Greet each family at the door. -Give each parent at the door a Drive Time card to take home if they did not receive one from last week. -Give each kid a piece of candy on their way out. WHAT YOU SAY: We are going to make a frame that you can put a picture of your family in to remember that God always keeps His promises! (Do activity.) AWESOME! Your frames look great. I am so glad that God loves us and knows what is best for us. He always gives us what we need and keeps His promises, even if we have to wait. Who keeps His promises? God keeps His promises! 10
