From the moment campers arrive each day, counselors guide them through traditional camp experiences including hiking, nature study, swimming, group games, and arts and crafts. They have opportunities to sing songs, tell stories, and meet new friends. All activities are geared to show your preschool camper the wonders of nature. Wee Backpackers is carried out in small groups under the watchful eye of counselors trained to meet the needs of young campers. The Wee Backpacker program maintains a low staff to child ratio. Adventures will include themed arts and crafts, a mystical quest and a special tea party! ARTS AND CRAFTS CAMP Weeks of June 11 August 24* *No program July 4, fee prorated Weeks of July 9, July 23, July 30 and August 13 Campers discover their artistic side and let their imaginations soar. Kids create a variety of projects that may include: sketching, watercolors or paints, nature collages, picture frames, necklaces and bracelets, and much more. Young Buccaneers learn the swashbuckling lingo of pirates, play games like Capture the Pirate Flag, try their balancing skills as they walk the plank, go on treasure hunts and a whole lot more! 11

ARTS AND IMAGINATION SUPER HERO CAMP Weeks of June 11, June 25, July 16, July 30 and August 13 BAM! POW! KAZAM! Kids think, dress, and act like superheroes! Kids bring their own superhero costume or make one at camp. Suiting up as their favorite superhero each day, they ll explore their own super powers. Activities include super games, super crafts and super fun. Where else can kids spend the day as their alter-ego superhero, meet other superheroes and save the world? NEW! MYSTERY QUEST CAMP Weeks of June 18, July 9, July 23, August 6 and August 20 Looking for a mystery to solve? There are many tales surrounding Camp Streefland. From Allie the Alligator, to the Pirates of Kingsley Lake to the Gaga Monster! Campers will set out on a daily adventure to hunt for clues, set traps and go deeper on these fun mysteries. DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY CAMP Weeks July 9, July 23 and August 6 Campers will learn the basics of digital photography and be able to experiment with both portrait and landscape photography. Each day will be a different theme from the viewpoint of an ant, or include a tree as a subject. Participants must bring a digital camera. No phones please. CULTURE AND DISCOVERY THEATER/DRAMA/DANCE CAMP Member Participants: $245/week Non-Member Program Participants: $270/week Week of July 30 Kids free their imaginations and develop improvisational skills! Campers explore the world of theater through games, acting exercises, learning about stage make-up and even performing for an audience. This camp is great for building self-esteem. A performance will be given. SPANISH CAMP Weeks of June 25, July 16, July 23 and August 6 This program is designed for campers currently learning Spanish. All instruction and programming is conducted in Spanish. Campers explorer hiking through wooded trails, studying the wonders of nature, canoeing along lakeshores, and conquering many challenges under the leadership of well-trained staff. Exciting activities include archery, swimming, nature studies, canoeing, fort building, gaga ball, camp crafts, cookouts and group games! DUCT TAPE ART CAMP Weeks of July 9, July 16, July 23, August 6 and August 20 Creativity is unlimited when the medium is duct tape! Kids learn how to craft with duct tape and make amazing things like bags, wallets, jewelry, and almost anything they can think of. Duct tape arts and crafts are one of the hottest trends. NATURE AND SCIENCE CRITTERS AND CRAWLERS CAMP Ages 4 & 5 year olds or entering Kindergarten in fall, 2018 Weeks of June 11, July 9, August 6 and August 20 Weeks of June 18, July 16, July 30 and August 13 Campers become Eco-Explorers as they investigate the natural surroundings at camp. We will take forest treks, prairie walks and beach tours to explore our local wildlife. Activities include: bug safaris, nature hunt, create a critter from litter and more! FISH, FROGS AND FORTS CAMP Weeks of June 11, July 9, July 16, July 23, August 6 and August 20 Filled with exploration and environmental education, we ll focus on fort building and discovery of insects, fish and frogs. Campers learn basic fishing skills while practicing the catch-and-release method. Bait and fishing equipment is provided at camp but you may bring your own. WILD ABOUT NATURE CAMP * Weeks of July 9, July 23, August 6 and August 20 Young nature lovers will enjoy the great outdoors as we explore the wonders of nature! Campers will hike along our many paths to discover woods, prairies and wetlands. Kids learn to identify a variety of trees, plants, and animals at camp. 13 FARM AND GARDEN CAMP Weeks of June 25, July 9, July 23 and August 6 Join us for a week of wholesome fun on the farm and in the garden! Kids working the farm will explore gardens, fields, and pastures. Young farmers experience the daily routines of feeding and caring for farm animals. Campers discover how plants, animals, soil and people work together to produce the food that we eat every day. Plus, they ll learn what it means to be a good steward in this unique farming experience. JUNIOR NATURALIST CAMP Member Participants: $245/week Non-Member Program Participants: $270/week Weeks of June 25, July 16, August 6 and August 13 Connect with nature in a personal way! Junior Naturalist campers will take field trips and learn about our precious environment from Naturalists, and they ll complete a service project too. From Geocaching in Clearly Lake Park, Prior Lake, to spending time at the MN Valley National Wildlife Refuge, Bloomington, this is your chance to explore nature and learn how to protect our precious outdoors. At each YMCA Specialty Camp, day campers spend approximately two hours of each day in their specialized activity. The remainder of the day is spent enjoying Traditional Camp activities. NATURE AND SCIENCE WATER EXPLORATION JUNIOR RANGER CAMP Member Participants: $245/week Non-Member Program Participants: $270/week Weeks of July 16, July 23 and July 30 The YMCA and National Park Service have partnered together to empower youth to create new outdoor opportunities to play, learn and serve. Campers will earn their Junior Ranger badge and experience firsthand the Junior Ranger motto of Explore, Learn and Protect. Campers will experience a field trip to a National Park to explore the Mississippi River and work with a Park Ranger! WEE BACKPACKERS LEARN TO SWIM CAMP 4 & 5 years old, or entering Kindergarten in fall, 2018 Member Participants: $260/week Non-Member Program Participants: $285/week Weeks of July 16, July 23, July 30 and August 6 All of the wonderful outdoor adventures in the Wee Backpacker program plus swimming lessons! Each day Wee Bees will have a 40-minute progressive swimming lesson at the Burnsville YMCA indoor pool with our certified swim instructors. Little swimmers will also have time to play in our zero depth pool. The remainder of the day will be spent enjoying traditional camp activities. A swim lesson progress card will be given at the end of the session. FULL STEAM AHEAD CAMP Weeks of July 16, August 6 and August 20 This camp is perfect for our young scholars who are passionate about Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. Campers will spend the week engaged in hands on, interactive projects. We will figure out how things work and why it s important. Activities may include Legos, robotics, science experiments, plus more! There will be lots of learning, using their imaginations, and exploring the indoors and outdoors at camp! OUTDOOR LIVING SKILLS CAMP Member Participants: $245/week Non-Member Program Participants: $270/week Weeks of June 11, June 25, July 16, July 23 and August 13 Kids develop their outdoor living skills in this exciting, hands-on specialty camp! Campers discover the finer points of preparing for a big outdoor adventure. Participants will learn a variety of useful camping skills that may include building a fire, making camp shelters, knot tying, campfire cooking and more! 14 CANOE/KAYAK CAMP Member Participants: $245/week Non-Member Program Participants: $270/week Weeks June 11, June 25, July 16, July 30 and August 13 Campers learn paddling skills and canoe/kayak safety as they experience the challenge of navigating water! Kids learn to identify the parts of the canoe/kayak, paddling techniques, the importance of teamwork. OUTDOOR SPORTS ARCHERY/SLINGSHOT CAMP Weeks of June 11, June 25, July 9, July 16, July 23, July 30, August 6, August 13 and August 20 Two amazing and traditional target sports, the bow and arrow and the slingshot, are very popular today. Participants will gain understanding and learn to properly use them both safely. Campers will learn to make and use their own targets, learn about different types of bows, the basics of aiming and target shooting and try our tomahawk range on Adventure Island. ADVANCED ARCHERY CAMP Weeks of July 9, July 16, July 23 and August 13 Your child will advance their archery skills and build upon skills learned in our archery and slingshot camp. Daily practice and instruction is offered at camp s three archery ranges and off site at South Forty Archers in Lakeville. CLIMBING CAMP Member Participants: $275/week Non-Member Program Participants: $300/week Weeks June 11 August 24* *No program July 4, fee prorated Campers embark on a climbing adventure! Campers will gain new skills and self-confidence every day through a variety of climbing activities. Campers test their strength, strategy, and skill while learning safety procedures, belay techniques, knot tying and proper climbing techniques. Wednesdays: Campers will participate in an exciting full day rock climbing experience at Vertical Endeavours. EXTREME ADVENTURE Member Participants: $245/week Non-Member Program Participants: $270/week Weeks of June 18, June 25, July 9, July 23, July 30, August 6 and August 20 Kids looking for some radical new experiences this summer can kick it up a notch with a week packed with extreme fun. This camp is designed to build self-confidence and learn valuable skills through challenging activities while enjoying an unforgettable adventure. Campers embark on full- and half-day activities such as skateboarding at the YMCA Tri-City Skate Park. Base Camp climbing adventure, and disc golfing. The remainder of the day will be spent enjoying traditional camp activities. FISHING CAMP Weeks of June 11 August 24* *No program July 4, fee prorated Camp Streefland is working with the MN DNR Division of Fish & Wildlife to utilize the MinnAqua Program s national award-winning fishing and aquatic education curriculum in our fishing camps. MinnAqua is a statewide education program designed to teach angling recreation and stewardship as well as the ecology and conservation of aquatic habitats. Kids get hooked on fishing as they learn basic fishing skills. Lakes provide the scene for fishing fun using the catch-and-release method. Campers will learn about safety when fishing, how to tie knots, fish identification, which bait to use and how our actions impact nature. Campers can bring their own pole and tackle, or equipment will be provided. 15

OUTDOOR SPORTS MOUNTAIN BIKING CAMP AT BUCK HILL Member Participants: $345/week Non-Member Program Participants: $360/week Weeks of June 11, June 18 and June 25 A step by step guide to beginning mountain bike skills to ease the experience of first-time riders. Students build confidence in tire grip, working on anticipation and focus points. Your child will learn to shift gears and become a strong rider. Campers develop lifelong biking skills and a commitment to an active lifestyles. Guest instructors and speakers from local bike shops, will help teach your child about basic bike care. SKI CAMP AT BUCK HILL Member Participants: $345 /week Non-Member Program Participants: $360 /week Weeks of June 11, June 18 and June 25 Campers learn to ski or snowboard! Our partnership with Buck Hill will allow campers the opportunity to get the feeling of skiing or riding on synthetic snow. Mondays begin with an orientation and 90-minute lessons will be provided on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The remainder of each day will be spent enjoying traditional camp activities. Equipment rental is included in the cost and covers boots, skis, binding, poles and helmet. At each YMCA Specialty Camp, day campers spend approximately two hours of each day in their specialized activity. The remainder of the day is spent enjoying Traditional Camp activities. HORSE CAMPS For all horse programs, we recommend that participants wear heeled leather shoes or boots. Long pants and protective helmets are required of all participants. Helmets will be provided by the camp. Our horse camp is a recreational riding program and is not intended to replace formal riding lessons. Alternative programs may be planned if weather conditions such as extreme heat, rain, or wind jeopardize the safety of campers or horses. Horse camp participants will be transported by bus from Day Camp Streefland to Day Camp Kici Yapi each day. First-time riders will build confidence and skills while learning the basics of western horseback riding. Instruction includes safety, leading, mounting, dismounting, reining, and basic trail riding. TEENS AND LEADERSHIP TEEN CLIMBING CAMP Member Participants: $275/week Non-Member Program Participants: $300/week Weeks of July 16, July 30 and August 13 Test your strategy and skill through new fun challenges! Each day focuses on a new element or challenge including knot tying, safety and team work. This camp is designed to build self-confidence and teach valuable skills while enjoying unforgettable adventure. Spend a day at Camp Streefland s high ropes course. Wednesdays campers will participated in an exciting full day rock climbing experience at Taylor s Falls! Campers will return to Camp Streefland at 5:30 p.m. and can be picked up from camp between 5:30 and 6 p.m. NEW! TEEN OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CAMP Member Participants: $230 Non-Member Program Participants: $255 Three-week session: Weeks of June 25, July 9, August 6 and August 20 Strike out on a bold adventure of climbing and canoeing as you test your strength, strategy and skill through a week of your favorite outdoor activities. This exciting camp allows you to create and implement a fun outing through the exploration of your favorite outdoor activities. Previous experience climbing and canoeing is beneficial. LEADERS-IN-TRAINING CAMP Member Participants: $335/two weeks Non-Member Program Participants: $360/two weeks Two-Week Sessions: June 11 22, June 25 July 6*, July 9 20, July 23 August 3, August 6 17 and August 20 31 *No program July 4, fee prorated Rise to the challenge in Leaders-in-Training Camp and discover your leadership qualities. You will learn and develop camp skills needed to lead camper activities, as well as responsibility through activity planning. You will have opportunities to shadow counselors and assist staff in their camp activities. There will also be plenty of time to hang out with friends new and old. Come experience camp from a whole new perspective! TEEN SERVICE LEARNING CAMP Weeks of June 18, July 9 and July 30 Grow their leadership and teambuilding skills, while bolstering self-confidence through giving back to the community. Earn volunteer hours and improve your skill set while actively participating in traditional camp activities like swimming, canoeing and kayaking, and high ropes course. Service projects take place at camp and in a National Park. You will receive a certificate with the number of service hours completed. It s a win-win for you and the community! 18

TEEN QUEST CAMP Weeks of June 11- August 31* *No program July 4, fee prorated Adventure Quest is an exciting day camp program geared toward teens that want total outdoor fun! This program develops valuable life skills such as effective communication, team building, cooperation, and conflict resolution. Participate in a variety of activities including swimming, canoeing and kayaking, environmental education, bowling, a service project, an all-day field trip, and more! WATER ADVENTURE CAMP Weeks of July 23, August 6 and August 13 The hottest way for kids to cool off this summer! Campers spend the full week enjoying an awesome array of water activities including canoeing, kayaking, swimming and other water activities. FORKHORN II CAMP Member Participants: $245 /week Non-Member Program Participants: $270 /week Weeks of July 16 and August 6 This advanced archery camp takes students beyond basic archery skills and offers training in bow hunting, map and compass skills, marksmanship training, tree stand safety and setup. Students will be certified in the MN Bowhunter Education Program MBEP as part of the camp. Not currently offering Forkhorn I or III camp, no pre-requisite to Forkhorn II.
