ZestFest 2017 warmly thanks our valued sponsors

ZestFest 2017 thanks our partners, collabarators and supporters

A message from the Minister for Ageing I am proud to support this year's new-look Zest Fest 2017, which builds on the success of the Every Generation Festival and promises a program of exciting and stimulating events that rejuvenate and celebrate modern ageing in South Australia. The South Australian Government's vision is to bring the community together to create an all-ages-friendly state; to ensure South Australians have a fulfilling, active and enjoyable life at every age. Zest Fest 2017 provides opportunities for older South Australians to be part of events that celebrate and connect people and places, challenge stereotypes around ageing and raise expectations for ageing well. I encourage South Australians of all ages to support this important festival, either as audiences, volunteers or event participants, and join in this landmark celebration of 50 years of positive ageing achievements in this state.

A message from the COTA SA Chief Executive ZestFest 2017 We will honour older South Australians with a festival for the 50th time this year - but with a twist. This year ZestFest is born! ZestFest 2017 will run from 7-27 October all over SA. The program will offer opportunities to celebrate older lives, connect with others, and challenge those persistent stereotypes that just don t fit modern ageing. There will be nothing invisible about our ageing at ZestFest 2017. Images of zestful ageing will beam in 5 centres across the state while elsewhere art, music and conversation will be the order of the day. We greatly value our relationships with partners large and small, including this year with some of our iconic South Australian cultural institutions and with other festivals and events, including Open State and Feast. COTA SA acknowledges the Minister for Ageing Zoe Bettison whose ongoing support and vision for ageing in this state is greatly valued. There will be no excuse to stay home in October. Try something new, and then let us know about it on Facebook or Twitter or via our website. Jane Mussared Chief Executive COTA SA

60+ Moments is a digital photography project creating new images and expectations of our older years, boldly reframing the way we age. 60+ Moments will challenge perceptions of older people, their creative voice and capacity to contribute and provide an opportunity for individuals to express what s personally important to them in a changing world. Sunday 8/10 You reckon that s old? Open State 4.30pm 6.30pm You reckon that s old? is a live panel, with a lot of Hypothetical, a bit of Gruen, a bit of Insight and a bit of Q&A. We ll debate what old is and what it could be. Nothing is off-limits as we will challenge everything that matters: Is old the new black? Is what we think about old just old hat? ZESTFEST EVENTS 11 Wednesday 25/10 SWITZERLAND by Joanna Murray-Smith. A witty, serpentine thriller from one of our greatest and most popular playwrights. 6.30pm ZestFest audiences are treated to a wonderful night of theatre by our South Australia s acclaimed State Theatre Company. Stage and screen legend Sandy Gore (Footfalls) returns to play one of the literary worlds most divisive and compelling figures Patricia Highsmith, the brilliant mind behind The Talented Mr Ripley and Strangers on a Train. Switzerland places Highsmith front and centre in a story that may or may not be of her own making. A semi-recluse in Switzerland, she is visited by a young man from her publishing house ostensibly on a mission to persuade her to write one last novel. But as the sun sets and rises again over the Swiss Alps, it becomes apparent that the charming young stranger is on a far more sinister mission. True to Highsmith s iconic style, there are multiple twists and turns as the enthralling plot unfolds. This is total edgeof-your-seat theatre. Grab a drink after the show and head backstage for a Q&A with Sandy Gore exclusively for ZestFest audiences. Venue: Dunstan Playhouse, Adelaide Festival Centre Cost: Adult $74 Concession $64 Bookings: https://zestfestsa.org.au/events/switzerland Thursday 25/10 TARNANTHI Festival of Contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art floor talk and tour 1.00-2.00pm. ZestFest audiences are invited to attend a special floor talk by a TARNANTHI Curator followed by a tour of selected TARNANTHI highlights. TARNANTHI, pronounced tar-nan-dee, is a Kaurna word from the traditional owners of the Adelaide Plains. It means to come forth or appear like the sun and the first emergence of light, or a seed sprouting. For many cultures, first light signifies new beginnings. TARNANTHI, the Festival of Contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art casts new light on the art of Australia s rich and diverse indigenous cultures. bookings essential.
