Welcome to Ellen Smith Tours 2018 Door to Door Brochure which we hope you will enjoy browsing through has once again been a successful year for Ellen Smith Tours and a year of change! All members of our selling and admin team are now working from a brand new updated & refurbished office. Brent, our driver, has transferred over to Rothwells with the coach but don t worry he will still be contracted in to drive a vast majority of our tours. Yaaay! We strive to be creative with our tours by updating itineraries to regular hotels that we use as well as including new destinations & hotels and we hope that you like the programme for 2018 that we are offering. One of our biggies for next year is a fully guided tour of The Shetlands we haven t been able to operate a tour here since 2012 due to hotel space being taken by oil workers. So to be able to offer this tour in 2018 is a fantastic opportunity and an area which is very much worth a visit. As well as our Jersey by Air holidays, for 2018 we are introducing Lake Garda by Air and Lisbon, Portugal by Air to give our customers more choice when choosing a Continental holiday. CITO Quality Award A proportion of our holidays have met the criteria for the CITO Quality Award. Tours which carry the CITO Logo are of a high standard and include, at no extra cost, features not always found on coach holidays such as, entrance to featured places of interest, door to door service, all excursions, a high specification, air-conditioned coach and on over 2 night stays a minimum of 3 star destination hotels with a choice on the dinner menu, a full cooked breakfast in the UK and a buffet breakfast in Europe, porterage and much more. 4 CUSTOMER INFORMATION PASSPORT Single Travellers We welcome single travellers and actively encourage you to travel with us. Unfortunately where hotels charge a single supplement we have no alternative but to pass this on to you. For all of our holidays the hotels we use only allocate a certain number of single rooms, some may carry a supplement and others may not. Once our allocation of these rooms have been sold, any extra single rooms or doubles for sole occupancy may carry a higher supplement than that advertised. If the supplement is higher than that advertised we will inform you of this before completing your booking. We do however, incorporate a range of Mature Singles holidays starting from page 38 of this brochure, where all of the bedrooms are for sole occupancy at no extra cost. Hotels The hotels are carefully chosen to ensure you receive the best attention at all times. The hotels featured in the brochure are normally 3 or 4 star or good quality family run 2 star hotels. All of the star ratings advertised in this brochure were correct at the time of this brochure going to print. Private Facilities All bedrooms at the featured hotels in this brochure have en-suite facilities. Hotel Special Requests At the time of making your reservation you may ask the staff member to include a note on your booking of any requests you may have. These will be noted to the hotel and although normally acceded to they cannot be guaranteed. Meals Except where specifically noted all holidays include a minimum of a 3 course evening meal and a full English breakfast. If you require a Special Diet you must inform a staff member when making your reservation. Attractions Every attraction incorporated in each of the within this brochure is included in the price there are no hidden extras. Coach Seats Requests for particular seats can be made on all holidays when booking, but since allocations are made on a first come first served basis early booking is advisable. (Please also refer to the Moving Seats section on this page). Seat Belts It is the duty of the driver to inform you that the wearing of Seatbelts is now a mandatory requirement whilst a vehicle is in Motion. Therefore please ensure you belt-up every journey! Passports and Identity Requirements Passports are required for all foreign departures. British citizens do not require a Passport for Ireland or the Channel Islands, however, some form of photographic identification (i.e. Passport or Drivers Licence) will be required. GB Photographic Identification It is advisable to carry some form of photographic identification (i.e. driving licence or bus pass with photo on) when travelling, in case of emergencies but also we find that more & more it is now becoming a general requirement, especially where ferries are involved. Travel Documents Approximately 7 10 days prior to departure you will receive a copy of your Tour Itinerary together with your Luggage Label and Pick-up Time. Luggage On our Coach Tours - EACH customer should use one MEDIUM sized suitcase each weighing no more than 18 kgs (40lbs). (This does not apply to Holidays by Air). Continental Coach Tours On a continental coach tour with overnight stops you should also include a small overnight bag with your overnight requirements. Your main suitcase will not be accessible until we reach the main hotel. Medication Please ensure that any medication you are required to take is kept in your Hand Luggage and NOT in your main suitcase. Customer Care We pride ourselves on the level of care we give to our customers. From the initial booking enquiry, through the tour itself, and right back to your home you can be assured of our best attention at all times. Next of Kin We would appreciate it if you would advise us of your Next of Kin contact details. As part of our customer care policy we want to advise a relative or friend of our customer s situation should it be deemed necessary. This will only be done by a senior member of staff. No Smoking Policy Ellen Smith Tours operate a No Smoking Policy and smoking is not permitted on any of our coaches. This includes e-cigarettes. Electronic Devices The use of electronic devices is permitted on our coaches however for the comfort of other passengers they must be in silent mode. Mobile Telephones For the comfort of all passengers mobile telephones should not be used while the coach is in motion, except in emergencies. Moving Seats! Allocation of Seats: When a customer books a tour with us a seat of their choice is allocated. That seat remains theirs for the duration of the tour. The company reserves the right, for operational purposes, to move customers onto other seats. This will mainly occur when we have single customers on individual seats thereby not allowing a couple to sit together. These changes will only be made when the tour is almost full and those affected will be the most recent bookings. The customer will be advised of the move before the tour commences. For summary of cover and premiums, please refer to page 5 of this brochure. 4

5 TRAVEL INSURANCE FOR COACH HOLIDAY PACKAGES ONLY: A Special Coach Holiday Travel Insurance scheme is available for passengers travelling on any of our Coach Holidays. This is arranged through Holiday Extras Travel Insurance and is underwritten by AWP P&C SA and administered in the UK by Allianz Global Assistance. Allianz Global Assistance is a trading name of AWP Assistance UK. Holiday Extras Limited and AWP Assistance UK are authorized and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Demands & Needs Statement: Holiday Extras Travel Insurance is typically suitable for coach travel customers who wish to insure themselves for medical emergencies, delayed or missed departures, cancellation of/cutting short a trip, lost, stolen or delayed possessions, loss of money and passport, personal accident, personal liability and legal expenses. The levels of cover may vary depending on where you travel (whether in you re the UK or overseas). Policy Excesses: Under some sections of your policy, you will have to pay an excess. This means that you will be responsible for paying the first part of the claim for each person insured, for each section, for each incident. The amount you have to pay is the excess. You will not have to pay an excess if the extra premium has been paid for excess waiver and this is shown on your policy schedule. How Your Policy Works: Your policy and policy schedule is a contract between you and Holiday Extras. Holiday Extras will pay for any claim you make which is covered by the policy and happens during the period of insurance. Unless specifically mentioned, the benefits and exclusions within each section apply to each person insured. Certain words have a special meaning as shown under the heading Definition of Words. These words have been highlighted by the use of bold print throughout the policy document. Travel Insurance does not cover everything: You should read the policy carefully to make sure it provides the cover you need. You may already possess alternative insurance for some or all of the features and benefits provided by this travel insurance product, it is your responsibility to investigate this. Premiums: Period Cancellation Rights: From the time of purchase you have 14 days to cancel your policy if it does not meet your needs or if you just change your mind, providing the trip has not started or you have not made a claim. 6 Beautiful Cornwall Selection A lovely selection of tours for 2018 ~ A fantastic opportunity not to be missed on the July tour as this includes a day excursion by boat to the beautiful Isles of Scilly. Based in St. Agnes, a picturesque village on the north coast of Cornwall, nestled in the lee of an impressive landmark which dominates the skyline of the beautiful and dramatic Atlantic coast. Steeped in mining history, the village still retains a traditional friendly Cornish atmosphere. Rosemundy House Hotel AA HHH This elegant 3-star standard hotel is set in over 4 acres of secluded gardens and woodlands and yet only a hundred yards from the main street in the quaint village of St. Agnes. The Queen Ann style hotel is family run and has been tastefully extended and converted. All the bedrooms have private facilities with colour TV, telephone, hairdryer and tea/coffee makers. We cruise past some of Cornwall s most famous coastline, arriving on St. Mary s in time to obtain some lunch and a chance to go off and explore the shops, the beaches or the coastal paths or maybe go on and explore one of the other islands (not included in the cost). Lift to most bedrooms. 10 u We make our way to Exmouth in time to join our Stuart Line Cruise boat for our cruise on the River Exe. While on-board enjoy a live commentary on the history of the area. As a designated RAMSAR site, the Exe is one of the top rivers in the country for wildlife and is a feeding ground for several seals. Following our river cruise we make our way to Topsham where we get chance to explore. u We enjoy an excursion to the coastal town of Teignmouth which sits on the edge of the mouth of the River Teign. From here we make our way to catch the ferry to Yell, Shetland s second largest island making a stop at the Old Haa Museum. We continue upwards in time for our second ferry crossing to Unst, Britain s most northerly inhabited island. You will see how the geology and landscape varies greatly in both Yell & Unst. We make our way to North Unst Hall where we enjoy a soup & sandwich lunch. In the afternoon we visit Muckle Flugga Lighthouse (weather permitting), Britain s most northerly point before making our way back for the mainland and onto the hotel. Exploring Southern Mainland ~ we enjoy the journey to tranquil Hoswick. Whilst here we take time to visit the Hoswick Visitor Centre. From here we continue via Rerwick beach to Jarlshof for a tour of the archaeological site. Jarlshof is one of Europe s biggest and most complex archaeological sites spanning over 5,000 years of occupation, from New Stone Age up to the 1600 s. Following this visit we enjoy a soup & sandwich lunch at the Sumburgh Hotel. From here we make our way to Quendale Mill where we can view the mill. We then continue our journey back to Lerwick where we enjoy some free time. We depart the Hotel to enjoy a tour of the West Mainland via Gulberwick and Black Gaet onto the Scalloway viewpoint an ideal photo opportunity. From here we continue to Hamnavoe for a visit to Shell House. We continue to East House Croft at the south end of Burra Isle, East House Croft, featured on the first series of the BBC s Restoration programme. Following this visit we continue to Scalloway where we visit Scalloway Castle, built in 1600 by Patrick Stewart and visit Scalloway Museum. We make our return journey to Lerwick where we have some free time to obtain some lunch (not included today). We then take time to visit the Shetland Museum & Archive. Exploring North & Central Mainland ~ we drive to the North West corner of the Shetland Mainland where the North Sea almost meets the Atlantic Ocean and the scenery becoming more spectacular with every mile. We make some stops on the way before heading onwards for spectacular cliff-top scenery. We continue to the Tangwick Haa Museum, which has various displays of local artefacts and examples of Shetland s past. We re-join the coach to make our way to St. Magnus Bay Hotel for our included soup & sandwich lunch. Following lunch we head southwards to visit Shetland Jewellery, where silver and gold jewellery using Nordic, traditional and wildlife designs are produced. Our last visit on the Island is to see the Shetland Ponies, before making our return to Lerwick, in time for our overnight ferry back to Aberdeen.
