Proposal.. Consent is sought for the erection of a detached learning pod building, located to the south-eastern boundary of the school site..2. The detached building would provide flexible learning space for pupils/ teachers at the school. The external materials of the proposed building would be red horizontal cedar cladding, with rock panel flashing. The building would measure 5 metres in depth, by approximately 3. metres in width, by 3.6 metres in height and would be 48 sq. metres in size. It would be rectangular in shape, with curved sides to give a more organic appearance..3. There would be no increase in staff or pupil numbers as a result of the development. Proposed Plans 2. Site & Surroundings 2.. The school was built in the 80 s and comprises a single-storey modern school building that is situated on the northern part of the site that fronts onto Colville Road. The school accommodates a two form entry with sixty children in each group and a part-time nursery. There are hard and soft play areas to the rear of the site that back onto public open space. The rear of the site is enclosed by a 3 metre high welded mesh boundary fence and extensive landscaping. The staff car park is accessed from Colville Road. The main pedestrian access is from Colville Road frontage The surrounding area is mixed residential and commercial in character. Location Map Street View Page of 5

Design and impact on visual amenity - The proposed building would be incidental to the main school building and would provide much needed flexible learning space for the school. The detached building would be cedar cladded and would be situated to the southern boundary, which is heavily screened by trees and hedges. In terms of design and materials, the proposed building would fit well with its surroundings. Being located behind substantial planting, the building would be unlikely to be visible from the public realm. Consequently, I consider that the proposal is unlikely to have any adverse impact on the visual amenity of the surrounding area or the school itself Impacts on highway safety and residential amenity the proposed building would be installed within the school grounds and would not compromise parking provision or vehicle circulation within the site or pedestrian footway within the adjoining public park.
