The Council needs to obtain residents views on the proposals so please do come along to obtain all the information provided so you can comment accordingly. This plan involves Bow Brickhill directly and needs your input. 4 Thought for the Month : 1 Peter Chapter 3, verses 9-11 Bow Brickhill Open Village : Don t do wrong to anyone to pay them back for doing wrong to you. Or don t insult anyone to pay them back for insulting you. But ask God to bless them. Do this because you yourselves were chosen to receive a blessing. The Scriptures say: If you want to enjoy true life and have only good days, then avoid saying anything hurtful, and never let a lie come out of your mouth. Stop doing what is wrong, and do good. Look for peace, and do all you can to help people live peacefully. 17th June 2017 MAKE/DECORATE A COW COMPETITION A prize will be offered to the best decorative cow in the village! There are no restrictions on size or materials - let your imagination run riot! GARDEN ON A PLATE COMPETITION Frosts Garden Centre is sponsoring a children s Garden on a Plate competition on the Open Village day. If your child would like to enter, please bring the entry form and plate to the Pavilion between and 1.30 on 17th June. CHURCH HALL DROP-IN AFTERNOON MAY 10th The drop-in has now been running for six years and it is lovely to have a good mix of adults and children calling in during the aftenoon. Thank you to everyone that helps on the rota and contributes to the refreshments. ENTRY FORMS for both delivered with this newsletter The next drop-in will be on Wednesday 10th and everyone is welcome to come along at anytime between 2.30 and 4.30pm and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and get together for a chat. ALL SAINTS LUNCH CLUB st The next meeting of the lunch club will be on Sunday 21 and will take place in the church hall at 12.30pm. Sunday 23rd April saw members of BB WI and friends meet to go for a walk in Malleson Woods. All are welcome, particularly anyone who is on their own, and transport is available. We had a wonderful time exploring the woods with Andy and hearing all about the conservation work he is doing there. He replied that he was working on "Aqua-thermal treatment of ceramics, aluminium and steel under a constrained environment". I was impressed until... I realised that he was washing dishes with hot water under his wife's supervision. However, it is usual for it to be the next day so as BB is usually collected on a Wednesday then suggest for both the bank holidays it will be on the Thursday instead 3 12

6 The Pavilion Bow Brickhill Parish Council Annual Village Meeting Thursday 11 th pm The Annual Village meeting will be held at the Pavilion as noted above. Please do come along to hear what the Parish Council have been doing, what the Police have to say and what local groups and societies have been up to over the last year. All welcome Tea and cake provided! Street Signs: Do you want to hold a party at the Pavilion? Debbie er - Parish Clerk Please, if you know of any missing or badly damaged street name plates in Bow Brickhill please will you let Debbie er, Parish Clerk, know who will collate and forward to MKC. Rubbish Bins: Please note that the rubbish and recycling bins located at the Pavilion are for the use of Pavilion hirers only and not for general village use. Highways: The only project currently involving Bow Brickhill is the upgrading of the existing school signing and wigwags on Station Road, Bow Brickhill which should be completed by June. Thank you The Pavilion is available to hire for residents (and non-residents) at very competitive rates should you wish to get available dates or hire rates: Please Contact: Debbie er on The next city-wide MK50 event is fast approaching, the Let s Party Like its 1967 weekend, is on the June. So, you may also wish to start thinking about how you and your communities could get involved. We are asking members of the community, town and parish councils, local businesses and organisations to throw their own 60 s themed parties, or come along to one nearby to celebrate the year Milton Keynes was designated as a New Town (1967!). We have created a Let s Party Like It s 1967 Party Pack, giving information on fancy dress, food, music, decorations everything you need to go back in time to when MK was first built: If you don t know where to start you might want to take a look at our Events Toolkit: So that we can understand the extent to which people are getting involved in our celebrations and to get listed on the website, we would like to know when and where you re holding your party. If you are planning any events for MK50 please do let us know, and if you need any assistance please do get in touch via culture@milton-keynes.gov.uk Best wishes, Lallie Lallie Davis : MK50 Project Manager : People s Projects award Congratulations to Love Woburn Sands Community Smiles project which has won a 2017 People s Projects award. Love Woburn Sands has been awarded 50,000 after winning the People s Projects vote, in which more than 200,000 votes were cast. They will use the funding to support local people in Milton Keynes South by offering volunteer-led programmes including IT courses, healthy eating activities, language classes and finance management. The project will extend to surrounding villages, involving local schools and older residents in an outreach programme. Focus will be on a community flower festival and pageant in 2017, and an innovative social media project. The People s Projects is a partnership between the Big Lottery Fund, ITV and The National Lottery, giving the public a say in awarding National Lottery funding to local projects across the UK. 5 10

All villagers are welcome to attend this meeting to hear about developments on the community development project to rebuild the Church Hall. Following last year s consultation on draft plans ASTRA will show the latest plans for the rebuild which reflect comments received. Come along to learn about progress since last summer. Come along to learn about the significant financial challenges that face this project. The meeting will begin with a short formal session to elect members of the ASTRA Subcommittee. We are looking especially for a new member with expertise and a track record in levering big funding from public and charitable trust grant awarding bodies. If you feel you could bring such experience to bear on this community service project do come along or talk to any member of ASTRA in advance of the meeting. The ASTRA Community Projects Team POLICE AND CRIME PLAN Anthony Stansfeld, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley has recently published his new five year Police and Crime Plan which sets out the priorities for policing and other crime reduction organisations across the Thames Valley, including the response to regional and national threats. The full plan can be found on the PCC website and a short summary of the plan and it s broad strategic priorities is below. Police and Crime Plan This new Plan consists of five broad strategic priorities which are: 1. Vulnerability 2. Prevention and Early Intervention 3. Reducing Re-offending 4. Serious Organised Crime and Terrorism 5. Police Ethics and Reform A hardcopy summary version of the plan will be available in due course. ROTARY CLUB OF BLETCHLEY Laughter Lines..
