2 Event information for Central London is the world s greatest festival of cycling with 100,000+ cyclists participating in events on trafficfree roads in London and Surrey. Events will take place in central London on Saturday 30 July 2016 and in London and Surrey on Sunday 31 July was developed by the Mayor of London, Transport for London and London & Partners in partnership with Surrey County Council and is sponsored by Prudential. The event is managed by the London & Surrey Cycling Partnership. This booklet contains important information to help you plan your travel around central London on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 July. Events on Saturday 30 July FreeCycle a family friendly ride for cyclists of all ages and abilities to explore an 8-mile trafficfree loop in central London including seven festival sites. Classique see the world s best female professional cyclists compete in this UCI WorldTour race. Events on Sunday 31 July -Surrey ,000+ amateur cyclists will take on a 100-mile cycle challenge through the closed roads of London and Surrey before finishing on The Mall. Last year riders raised more than 12million for charity. -Surrey 46 a new event over 46 miles within the existing 100 mile challenge created specifically for newer and younger riders, also starting at Queen Elizabeth Olympic and finishing on The Mall. -Surrey Classic the world s best male cyclists will compete in this world-class one-day race through London and Surrey. The race starts at Horse Guards Parade, St James s before heading into Surrey and returning to the capital to finish on The Mall. The event routes for Sunday 31 July are on pages Other events On Friday 29 July the Prudential RideLondon Grand Prix will see a series of BMX, handcycle and youth races take place at the Lee Valley Velo. Brompton World Championships The 11th Brompton World Championship Final will take place on closed roads around St James s. 5 Local information Key Roads Roads adjoining the event routes will have local access only for residents and businesses, with usual Saturday and Sunday parking restrictions unless otherwise stated. Some adjoining roads will have no vehicle access during the road closure period. See maps on page For assistance with journey planning, visit River crossings A number of bridges in central London will be closed until the evening of Sunday 31 July. Blackfriars Bridge will remain open but may be busier than usual. Visit for more information about river crossings during event weekend. ing If you usually park on a road used for the event, please move your vehicle the night before. Vehicles cannot be parked on the event route from 00:01 on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 July. Any vehicle left on the route or parked in a suspended parking bay will be removed from the route. Public transport Check for real time travel information and the TfL journey planner. Cycle Superhighway On Saturday 30 July there are no closures on the Cycle Superhighway. On Sunday 31 July the Cycle Superhighway will be closed eastwest from Tower Hill to Bridge Street (Westminster Bridge). For more information please visit gov.uk/ridelondon Emergency services Emergencies will be treated as a priority in the usual way. If you require the emergency services, call 999. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained and prioritised throughout all of the Prudential RideLondon events. On the day There will be stewards and volunteers positioned along the route. If you require assistance on the day that is not a 999 emergency please ask event staff to help. Alternatively contact the helpdesk ( ). Pedestrian crossing points There will be some planned engineering works taking place on the Transport for London network on the event weekend. Due to event road closures, some bus services will need to be diverted temporarily, suspended or will terminate earlier than usual. Some stops may also be temporarily relocated. 5 Pedestrian crossing points are located along the event route. These will be under supervision to help pedestrians cross the road. Usual crossings may be suspended, but an alternative will be signposted where it will be easier to cross. Please be patient during the event and listen to instructions given by stewards.
