11 6/1 Conduct of Club Events Some Club Secretaries and Club Event Organisers seem unsure of their responsibilities when running Club Events. These notes are intended to clarify the position. Please give a copy of this page to all your Club Event organisers. Who can enter? All club events in South District are "Come and Try It" events so anyone can enter. There is no limit to the number of times a rider can "Try It" but we would expect such people to join a local club of their choice after a few rides. Anyone abusing the system should be encouraged to join a club. Local clubs should liaise with one another to discourage abuse. Come and Try It riders should be given a copy of the enclosed leaflet Principles of CTT Regulations. Parental Consent forms should be completed for all entrants aged under 18. How many entrants? The event must be finished before lighting up time, so the last rider should start half an hour earlier for a 10. If visibility is poor on the night, the organiser should make the finish time earlier. Consequently fewer riders would be accepted. This means that early and late in the season, even in good visibility you could be limited to 30 riders or less, (see Note below). The start could be at 6.45 pm on some courses to increase the number of available rides. As Risk Assessments for club courses are produced, they will include limits on "Time of Start" and "Last Rider off Road" for each course and throughout the season. Overall, we want to encourage everyone, especially newcomers, to ride in Time Trials but we must ensure that the experience is safe and enjoyable.
