2 PAGE 01 ABOUT Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust is progressing plans to re-provide inpatient respiratory care in a new state-of-the-art medical wing to be located on the southern part of the site. This is in response to pressing clinical needs - current respiratory inpatient facilities are outdated and present many challenges to those delivering care to patients. These proposals replace previous plans in 2013 for a more comprehensive redevelopment on the site. Key components of the scheme include: New wing to incorporate c. 80 bed specialist respiratory unit MRI imaging suite Connection of the new wing to Sydney Wing In order to fund these new facilities, the Trust will be required to sell assets not currently used for patient care, which include Chelsea Farmers Market and Please see page 02 for the site map highlighting the locations where these new facilities are proposed. CONSULTATION PROCESS The Trust has appointed Soundings to carry out public and stakeholder consultation, to inform and involve the local community at each stage of design development. In February and March 2016 the first public consultation events were held. The three-day drop-in exhibition and the inaugural Community Liaison Group (CLG) meeting, gathered local residents, hospital patients and staff views of the redevelopment and aspirations for the area. Further design development will be taking place ahead of the planning submission, anticipated in Summer In May 2016 we will be holding the next stage of consultation to discuss draft design proposals. Please see page 05 for full event details. 4 PAGE 03 PROJECT RESET AND CONCEPT DESIGN FEEDBACK In February 2016 a series of events provided more information about the the more compact solution now proposed - referred to as the project reset - and sought feedback on the concept design. This page gives a brief overview of responses to the design approach. The initial proposals were generally well received. Local residents were pleased that the scale of the proposed scheme was smaller than the 2013 proposals and that Fulham Wing would remain in clinical use. Key issues raised included: Impact on St Lukeʼs Church especially light and views Impact on traffic including ambulance flow Impact on car parking suggested maximising use of space below ground Some attendees held back on commenting, as they wanted to see more details first. It was explained that more drawings and information would be shared during the next stage of the consultation process.
