These counts represent the first information that will be released for Nebraska from the 99 Census. These population counts are also available on the Neb-Index electronic bulletin board. Any questions regarding Neb-Index should be directed to Tim Himberger at ( 4) The Census Bureau emphasizes that these population counts "are subject to possible correction for undercount or overcount. The United States Department of Commerce is considering whether to correct these counts and will publish corrected counts, if any, not later than July 5, 99." In December 99, the Census Bureau released Nebraska's 99 reapportionment count at,584,67. This number includes 6, person who are U.S. military or federal employees and their dependents stationed overseas and who listed Nebraska as their home state. The Census Bureau has also released information for redistricting. The data include total population, population by race and Hispanic origin, persons 8 years and over, and total housing units. These data are available for all geographic areas in the state, including census tracts and blocks. The next data to be released from the Census Bureau will be detailed statistics on age, sex, race, Hispanic origin, marital status and household relationships. For housing detailed statistics will be available on units in structure, owner/renter status, value and rent, number of rooms and vacancy characteristics. Statistics on income, education, employment, and occupation will not be available until sometime in 99. We will continue to keep you informed about the 99 Census.
