Whether you re taking the kids to one of our 35 plus city parks, or playing a game of curling with friends, there s always something fun to do in our Border City. The secret is to dress for the weather. Summer Welcome the return of the sunshine with a smile, and take a look at the range of outdoor assets many of which are free or cost very little to enjoy found here in the Border City. While the lakes around Lloydminster are a very popular destination, it s important to remember memories are made everywhere! Check out the variety of experiences you can enjoy within city limits. parks & recreation alfresco adventures Games, Grub, and Gatherings Connect with friends and family in the great outdoors over a delicious picnic lunch or during a rigorous exercise session in one of Lloydminster s many parks and green spaces. For those looking to dine outside, many offer comfortable picnic tables, sheltered dining areas, and fire pits perfect for s mores and a hot dog roast. Enjoy a yoga class, an invigorating run, or stimulating cycle in one of Lloydminster s numerous parks. Oasis Hot Yoga Studio and Spirit Warrior Yoga often host special outdoor yoga classes in the summer months. Be sure to check their information in the listings section of the guide. Lloydminster Golf and Curling Centre Water Adventures Abound! Lloydminster s Indoor and Outdoor Pool Scene Water fun is on its way! If you d like to enjoy a cool splash during summer s heat, be sure to check out the Lloydminster Outdoor Pool. Typically open May to September, this site hosts many special swimming events think Outdoor Pool Date Night and Family Swims and offers swimming lessons all season. Call to check on the latest rates and special events, then get ready for some watery fun! Maybe you d like to enjoy the sun s heat while your little loved ones cool down. May we suggest the Spray Park? Located in Bud Miller All Seasons Park, this barrier-free splash pad has comfortable seating for adults plus a range of spray guns, water features, and add-ons. 8 53 Lloydminster Off-Leash Dog Park perfect parks Playgrounds, Courts and Fields Abound! Lloydminster and area boasts over 35 parks, playgrounds and fields. Each of these beautifully cared for spots are free to use (some exemptions may apply for special events), stroller and petfriendly, and host a collection of special gatherings and sports events throughout the year. A staple of the Border City s park scene is the famous Bud Miller All Seasons Park. This park showcases Lloydminster s only professional-sized tennis courts, the Bioclean Aquatic Centre, a myriad of running and biking trails, huge playground, and a serene man-made lake. Because of these assets and more, this site is a perennial favourite of visitors and residents alike. 9 54 Bud Miller All Seasons Park get your body moving Races, Skateboarding, and More Lloydminster offers a range of outdoor options to keep your body moving all summer long. If you re a runner, cycler, or avid walker, you ll love the winding trails located throughout the city. Keep your eyes peeled for signage, posted strategically at the beginning of most trails, which indicates length, route options, and more. Perhaps you love to be on four wheels instead of two. In that case, be sure to visit Harty Developments Skate Park. Located near Servus Sports Centre (on the south end of the city), this brightly-lit skate park offers hours of entertainment. Be sure to bring your own equipment and safety gear, as the site is unsupervised. If you delight in joining physical activity with a great local cause, be sure to check out the wide array of fundraisers hosted in Lloydminster. From colour runs to mud runs to zombie runs, there s memories to be made alongside friends, family, and colleagues. SHOOTING FOR AN ACE Golf Courses, Mini Golf, and More When you re in Lloydminster and area, you ll experience the best of golf all year round, but nothing says summertime like a game of golf on the links. Lloydminster Golf & Curling Centre is home to a luxurious 18- hole golf course, complete with private golf lessons, and tournaments. Located on the north side of the city, be sure to stay for a delicious bite in their restaurant where they often host special events like dueling pianos, themed meals, and more. If you re apt to take a short drive before you start your swing, be sure to visit Rolling Greens Golf Course (west of Lloyd) or Sandy Beach Golf Course (15 minutes north). Both locations are well maintained and offer an out-of-city experience sure to put a smile on your face. Maybe mini-golf is more your style? If so, head to The Putting Zone, located in Bud Miller All Seasons Park, to enjoy a family-friendly game during a warm summer weekend or evening. When the weather cools down, you can still satisfy your urge to whack the ball at Lets Golf, an indoor golf centre. If you re in the mood for adventure, take a short drive 20 kilometers northeast of Lloydminster to Landrose and Poplars Bluff to check out Lloydminster Cross Country Ski Club s trails. This volunteer-run location offers lessons, a concession with warm food (hot chocolate, yeah!), and a special anniversary event each year. If you re up for a longer drive, be sure to visit Table Mountain (just 45 minutes east of the Border City). With numerous trails in varying degrees of difficulty, Table Mountain makes for great wintry memories right in our own backyard. 11 56 Lloydminster Golf & Curling Centre Toboggan Time! Family Fun Perhaps some of the most fun you can have on a slippery slope, tobogganing hills abound in Lloydminster and area. Pile your winter gear on good and thick, get ahold of some toboggans, crazy carpets, and snow racers, and get ready for good belly laughs and flushed cheeks all for free! Servus Sports Centre is home to two indoor soccer surfaces, two arenas, a public skating surface, full fitness centre, and more. Their range of scheduled activities including open playtime on the field house surfaces will keep you busy during the coldest snap of the year. If you re up for games and fun, check out A Bit Extreme. Located just a few minutes west of Lloydminster, this location showcases an indoor rock-climbing wall, laser tag, full arcade, toddler-safe play area, and concession. For the younger folk, head downtown to the indoor playground located in Midwest Family Connections. This colourful, accessible space is perfect for the little ones in your life who are full of pep and need to run off some steam especially when the weather cools down. parks & recreation Jaycees Park For the curling fans there s Lloydminster Golf & Curling Centre, Lloydminster s only curling centre. Men s league, ladies league, senior s league, and mixed doubles are only a few of the options available to you. If your young people are interested in the sport, be sure to check out the Little Rockers program (grade four and five) and Junior High program (grades six through nine).
