3 INCLINE VILLAGE : THE HISTORY Incline Village, the Jewel of Lake Tahoe, is a unique community, nestled on the beautiful North Shore and surrounded by greenbelt and national forest. Established over 35 years ago, the Village had to be totally planned, incorporating strong architectural standards and zoning as a way to retain the natural beauty of the setting. Residents of Incline Village not only own their property, but own all the community facilities. Incline derived its name during the logging days of the mid 1800 s, when a double track narrow gauge tramline carried logs almost 1,400 feet vertically to the V-flume running along the granite mountain top. Until the late 1950 s, Incline remained not much more than a wide spot in the road. Then the Crystal Bay Development Company purchased the 9,000 acres that are Incline today from Captain Whittell, a multi-millionaire real estate magnate, whose stone castle can be seen south of Sand Harbor. The Crystal Bay Development Company had a grand master plan to develop a unique community, planned to perfection. Subsequently, in the 1960 s roads were cut, beach areas purchased and developed, and the ski area and Robert Trent Jones golf courses were designed. This new community was named Incline Village in an attempt to preserve something of the historic logging days, and from then on private homes were constructed, schools built, and the community continued to grow. It now has one elementary school, one middle school, one high school, a private academy and a private college within its boundaries. The population has grown to approximately 9,000 permanent year-round residents, and the local population peaks in the summer at around 18,000.

IVGID, Incline Village General Improvement District, is a local agency that supplies and regulates utilities (water and sewer) and regulates the community recreational facilities, private beaches, Diamond Peak Ski Resort, tennis complex, recreation center and golf courses. Residents of Incline Village have access to the private beaches and special rates on all the facilities. 9 INCLINE VILLAGE : AMENITIES As a resident of Incline Village, you have access to recreational facilities for minimal user fees. No other community around Lake Tahoe boasts the quantity and quality of recreational amenities within minutes of one s front door. Private Beaches There are three exclusive-use beaches in Incline Village. Ski Beach includes a private boat launch. The beaches have picnic areas with barbecue pits, play equipment for children, snack bars, lifeguards and changing rooms. Burnt Cedar Beach has a 25-meter swimming pool, water slide, and wading pool for young children. For Incline residents with recreation photo ID (IVGID passes), access to the beaches is free. Golf Courses Incline Village has two golf courses. The Mountain Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., has two par fours on each side; the rest are all par threes. The Championship Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., is a terrific mountain course, and one of the best courses in the Reno/Tahoe area. The course was extensively remodeled in Golf carts are mandatory and Incline residents play at a significant discount. Each course has a pro shop, snack bar, and PGA certified class A-pro. Recreation Center With a wide variety of activities and fitness classes available, we have a place for you and your family. Fitness classes include: Yoga, Zumba, step, strength, cardio, cycling, mat Pilates, 55+, and aqua fitness. 10 INCLINE VILLAGE : AMENITIES Diamond Peak Diamond Peak Ski Resort is a family oriented ski facility. The resort has an acclaimed ski school, child ski center, America s first Launch Pad Loading System, ski shop, ski rentals, cafeteria, bar, locker rooms and a snack bar at mid-mountain. Diamond Peak offers discounted lift tickets and season passes to Incline residents. Diamond Peak also offers cross-country skiing at a separate location. The cross-country center offer 35km of groomed track and skating trail. Tennis Complex The Incline Village Tennis Center in Lake Tahoe offers eleven courts in a picturesque alpine setting along a year round creek, located next to the Recreation Center. Available in our Pro Shop are a full line of Babolat, Volkl and Dunlop racquets and tennis products, as well as the newest apparel and shoes from Nike. World-Class racquet stringing is available by our staff who works on the ATP and WTA professional tours. A wide variety of synthetic and natural gut string is available and all stringing will be ready for next day pick-up. Chateau at Incline Village The Chateau has a fabulous classic Tahoe stone and timber construction with a modern edge. This venue is perfect for parties, weddings and community meetings. The structure consists of meeting rooms, banquet facilities, a grill and a professional golf shop. The facility is large enough to handle 300 people for sit down dinners. Aspen Grove Located across from Incline s boat launch, Aspen Grove has a beautiful picnic and BBQ area next to a creek. Available to Incline residents for meetings, picnics, and small weddings. Exercise Course Located next to Aspen Grove, a one mile, 18 station exercise course.
