Overview There are 10 days in July that show the world what makes so special. Ten incredible days that help define us as a city and allow us to showcase our hospitality, demonstrate our love of fun and our enthusiasm for life. These 10 days are the Stampede; an opportunity to pull on your boots, put on a cowboy hat and come have some fun! Events and Attractions Rodeo Six major events Bareback, Bull Riding, Barrel Racing, Saddle Bronc, Steer Wrestling and Tie- Down Roping are the backbone of the Stampede Rodeo. Add in Novice Bareback, Novice Saddle Bronc, Junior Steer Riding and Wild Pony Racing for the youngsters and you ve got the best rodeo in the world. Prices range from $36 to $ and include park admission. GMC Rangeland Derby During nine nightly heats, featuring a new Semi-Final Saturday, you ll witness all the heart-stopping action as 36 drivers, 288 horses and their teams of outriders vie for over $1.15 million in prize money! During the Stampede, the races start nightly at 8 pm. The world famous Grandstand Show follows. Grandstand Show An evening show with acrobatic acts, jokes, music, dance and even daring feats of bravery, all topped off by a spectacular fireworks show. Prices vary from $52 to $ and include park admission. 2
9 Parade Bukaroos Area The Stampede Parade is an exciting kick-off to ten days of good ol fashioned western fun. Led by our own World Champion Stampede Showband, the parade showcases floats, bands, riders, cultural entries, and many more! Kids under 12 years old will enjoy many of their favorite activities such as Magic Nuudles, button making, face painting, Plasma Cars and Speed Stacks. Visit the Western Photo booth for your complimentary photo (limit one per family), or bounce on one of three giant inflatable play structures. Try out your artistic skills in the Museum or play in the huge multilevel playground. Animals and Agriculture During the 10-day Stampede, a large agricultural showcase is held that helps connect rural and urban communities. Concerts Every year, the Stampede draws famous and talented musicians from around, performing music from various genres. The Coca-Cola Stage offers some of these fabulous musical talents for free with admission! For fans of country music, visit Nashville North and have a beer while enjoying music from famous artists. (Nashville North is open to those 18 and over only.) The Stampede even holds a Talent Search where Talented young people compete for prizes in vocals, instrumental, musical theatre, dance or variety acts. Lastly, nearly 1,000 musicians from dozens of bands worldwide will square off in a musical, marching melee during the Marching Showbands Competition. The Midway With 40 different rides, including roller coasters, haunted houses and everything in between, the Midway s sure to get your heart racing and put a smile on your face. Or, if you find out that rides aren t your thing, the Midway has many games as well.from Ring Toss to Whack a Mole, there will be a game calling your name. There is even a Kids Midway with 24 rides designed exclusively for families with young children and classic Kids Midway games. 10 Western Oasis For those of us who needed a break, a stroll through Western Oasis provided the cool and calm experience to wind down and also take in some culture of Stampede Park. Lush vegetation and water features set the perfect atmosphere for the Stampede Art & Lifestyles Showcase. Patrons are able to take in live performances throught the venue and appreciate the specially selected wine and food parings in the Western Oasis Wine Garden. Wine tastings took place daily where attendees could savour and learn about Canadian and International vineyards. Wines were paired with foods from the local Stampede Grown Right. Here. program. Around Town The heart of the Stampede is at Stampede Park, but you can find the spirit of Stampede everywhere during the 10 days. Many businesses throughout the City of decorate to celebrate the Spirit of the Stampede during the 10 days. Promotion committee volunteers welcome visitors at the International Airport with a warm greeting, an invitation to visit the Stampede, daily event information and lots of country music and entertainment. Various pancake breakfasts are organized throughout the city and provide entertainment and activities for the whole family. Harry the Horse, the official mascot and ambassador of the Stampede, is a common sight in and around throughout the 10 days. You will find him meeting, greeting and delighting children of all ages. As official representatives of the Stampede and the City of, the Stampede Queen and Princesses make over 400 appearances in the exciting year of their reign. 4
11 Canada Olympic Park 88 Canada Olympic Rd SW From the beginner to the high performance athlete, Canada Olympic Park offers the best winter training and family fun experience in. Winter activities include downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, bobsledding and luge. The Park has three halfpipes and ski runs of varying difficulty. It s a great destination for winter sports. In the summer the park has much more to offer. Roll down the hill in a human sized hamster ball in an activity known as zorbing. Alternatively, you can soar from the top of Canada Olympic Park s ski jump tower on a zipline. Mountain bike over the many trails at the park or enjoy a round of mini-golf. Experience the adrenaline rush of bungee jumping - without the risks - as you flip, spin and bounce while harnessed in the Eurobungy. If you re looking for something more challenging, try one of the four climbing wall routes. Ignite your passion for sport at COP!
