P r e s i d e n t s L e t t e r Riverside Run - Ride Report Riverside Wyoming first came to my attention as an organized camping ride when I was a member of C.O.G.

Seven of us left Denver and Fort Collins, rode over the Snowy Range on highway130, then south to Riverside and the Lazy Acres Campground where we posted up our tents.

70 had fresh blacktop, no dirt and no traffic, great forests and dramatic views and it isn t open in the winter, so it wasn t beat up either; all things considered, it was the best road I had

I didn t forget Wyoming Road 70 or Lazy Acres Campground, situated right next to the Encampment River; and when I came to BMWMCC in 2004 I brought the idea for the ride with me.

The owners of the campground, Leroy and Lee Ann Stevenson, hooked us up with grills so we could cook burgers and brats and coolers for our drinks.

Everyone had a real good time and it was great being able to supply a BBQ to our members off the back of our bikes, it was a first for us!

2 P r e s i d e n t s L e t t e r Riverside Run - Ride Report Riverside Wyoming first came to my attention as an organized camping ride when I was a member of C.O.G. That s Concours Owners Group for the uninformed. The year was 1999 and it was mid July. Randy Bishop (no relation to Jim) was our State Director at that time and the ride was his idea. Seven of us left Denver and Fort Collins, rode over the Snowy Range on highway130, then south to Riverside and the Lazy Acres Campground where we posted up our tents. After a short rest we headed west to explore rode 70 as none of us had ever been there. What a treat! 70 had fresh blacktop, no dirt and no traffic, great forests and dramatic views and it isn t open in the winter, so it wasn t beat up either; all things considered, it was the best road I had ever ridden in Wyoming. After our ride we retired to the campground and went the ways of the wind the next day. I didn t forget Wyoming Road 70 or Lazy Acres Campground, situated right next to the Encampment River; and when I came to BMWMCC in 2004 I brought the idea for the ride with me. Since that time the Riverside Rendezvous has become an annual ride, with a fairly large attendance. This year we had 32 riders and one super cute fuzzy dog named Rider. The owners of the campground, Leroy and Lee Ann Stevenson, hooked us up with grills so we could cook burgers and brats and coolers for our drinks. Four of us rode to Saratoga to shop for groceries, which we brought back on our bikes. Our club funded the food in lieu of funding the Beemer and Bears Campout, cancelled earlier this year. Everyone had a real good time and it was great being able to supply a BBQ to our members off the back of our bikes, it was a first for us! Riverside is just the right distance from Denver and reached by a variety of good roads, there are motels and cabins available, restaurants, bars, and a small store with gas, nearby hot springs, two of the best roads in Wyoming and of course shaded camping next to the river, in short just about something for everyone. Three of us, including Randy were on the original ride with COG and are now BMWMCC members. Must be a good omen. Hope to see you there next year.
