1 ANNOUNCEMENT ALEXANDER VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEE OPENING Term 10/9/18 Dear AVS Parents and Community, This is a great time of year, students and staff have locked into learning routines and meaningful relationships continue to build. This time of year also means we need to inform you that we currently have one Trustee position open on our Board. State law requires all school districts to have a Board of Trustees. The Trustee must be a resident of the district, as well as be a registered voter, and commit to a four-year term. Here is a little information about the role and responsibilities on becoming a Trustee. Our Board approves expenditures, policies, regulations, and hiring. They adopt our annual budget, provide direction to the Superintendent with regard to managing our district, and approve the goals that drive our efforts to create high levels of academic and behavioral success for our students. In addition, each Trustee participates in various district committees. If you have an interest in learning more about becoming a Trustee, please give me a call or send me an to: mreno@alexandervalleyusd.org. 7 Alexander Valley School Parents Club Meeting Sept. 12, 2018 Minutes 1 Welcome Meeting called to order at 8:18 Roll call. AVSPC officers present: Mikaela Siani, Kristen Munselle, Bill Campbell, Mindy Kreck In attendance: Matt Reno, Shannon Hausman, Carla Flores, Chris Bowen, Liza Hinman, Kerri Berry, Gianna Smart, Chris King, Jenny Lopez, Anne Laurie, Laura Hawkes, Matthew Burdelsky, Cally Puckett Motion to approve agenda: Cally Puckett, 2nd Kerri Berry 2.0 AVS Faculty s report Hausman / Bowen / Flores Thanks for the start up funds. Heirloom Festival field trip was great - lots of activities. AVS garden display was there. Opera tryout tomorrow and Friday. Working to get donations for jogathons. Conferences coming up in October. November 15 - Opera in SF field trip, can take 30 kids. 4th/5th grade overnight field trip coming up. 3.0 AVS Superintendent and Principal s report Matt Reno School is off to a smooth start. Bond passed, working to form a citizen oversight committee - need in resident parent on the committee, will meet 2-3 times a year. The committee is to ensure money is being spent in the way said it was supposed to. Adding social/emotional strategies to school day - teaching self control, student teacher relationships, etc. Recently received state scores - 5th grade: average 94.5% out of 100 health score. Both PE and wellness committee contributed to this great score. Thanks to new AVSPC board. 4.0 President s report Mikaela Thanks you for everyone for coming to first day of school coffee, picture day volunteers, Jenny Lopez for updating FB page. 5.0 Vice President s report; volunteer update Kristen Great response for sign ups for need passive fundraising and 2 hot days. Dine and Donate at Bear Republic - October Treasurer s report; financial update Bill Finished July/Aug. Need to focus on balancing budget - unsustainable trend 7.0 Secretary s report; review and approval of prior meeting s minutes Mindy motion to approve May meeting minutes Gianna Smart, 2nd Kerri Berry 8.0 Old Business none 9.0 New Business 9.1 School Assemblies Matt Reno Assembly budget: working with Sara Leffew. Getting a cougar mascot - $369, using some assembly money. Guest speaker series working on getting different speakers from community, to support the PRIDE program at school. 9.2 Halloween Carnival Kristen Renee is organizing again, individual classes to head up their activities. 9.3 Book Fair Anne Laurie Nov 5-9 with Copperfield Books. Looking for a good time to have book talks prior to the Book Fair.

La excursión al festival Heirloom fue maravilloso muchas actividades. Una exhibición del jardín de AVS estaba allí. Audiciones para la Opera mañana y viernes. La excursión de quedarse la noche para el 4º y 5º grado se aproxima. 3.0 Reporte de Superintendente y Director Mr. Reno La escuela tuvo un comienzo suave. Se paso el voto para el Bond, estamos trabajando en formar un comité de supervisión de ciudadanos necesitamos un padre que vive en el distrito para este comité, se juntara 2-3 veces al año. El comité es para asegurar que el dinero se esté gastando en la manera que se debe. Estamos agregando estrategias sociales/emocionales al día escolar enseñando control de sí mismo, relaciones entre estudiantes y maestros, etc. recientemente recibimos marcas del estado 5º grado: un promedio de 94.5% de una marca de 100 en bienestar. Ambos PE y el comité de bienestar contribuyeron a esta gran marca. Gracias a la nueva mesa directiva de AVSPC. 4.0 Reporte del presidente Mikaela Gracias a todos por venir al social de café en el primer día de la escuela, voluntarios del día de fotos, Jenny Lopez por actualizar la pagina de Facebook. 5.0 Reporte del vicepresidente; informe de voluntarios Kristen Buen respuesta para los apuntes para recaudación de fondos pasivos y 2 días se salchichas (hot dog days). Cenar y donar en Bear Republic el 2 de octubre. 6.0 Reporte del Tesorero; informe financiero Bill Completamos julio y agosto. Necesitamos enfocarnos en un presupuesto balanceado tendencia insostenible. 7.0 Reporte de la secretaria; revisar y aprobar los minutos de la junta previa Mindy Mocion para aprobar los minutos de la junta de mayo Gianna Smart, 2º Kerri Berry 8.0 Asuntos Anteriores Ninguno 9.0 Nuevos Asuntos 9.1 Asambleas de la escuela Matt Reno Presupuesto de asambleas: trabajando con Sara Leffew. Buscando un buen tiempo para tener pláticas sobre libros antes de la feria de libros. Comité de Jardín nadie se apuntó. Necesitamos ayuda supervisando el comité de jardinería. Sugerencia de anunciar en el correo de martes. Invernadero se comienza a formar, gracias al PC por apoyarlo.
