Custom Saddlery and dine in Riber their elegant historic restaurant. Day 1: Monday, July 9 Travel eastward along the Columbia River Gorge, stopping for lunch in Boardman at the River Lodge and Grill. Travel along the Grande Ronde River, through small country towns including the charming village of Joseph and into beautiful Wallowa State Park. Our arrival will be heralded by the spectacular Wallowa Mountains standing sentry over the valley and the deep blue lake. Check into our hotel where our two night stay provides time to enjoy all the activities and beauty the park has to offer. Tonight we have arranged a private BBQ dinner at our hotel. 2 Day 2: Tuesday, July 10 Wallowa State Park Spend the day in the gorgeous Wallowa Valley exploring all that it has to offer. Ride the tramway to the 8,200- foot summit of Mount Howard. At the top there are scenic trails to stroll, awe-inspiring Eagle Cap Chalets views of the snow-patched mountains and lake below, and The Grill where you can dine in the refreshing out-of-doors. If you choose to remain on the valley floor there is much to see and do. Explore the state park on foot, shop, play mini golf or just relax. Shuttles are available to take you into Joseph or Enterprise. In Enterprise see one of the northwest's largest collections of antique farm implements at Sunrise Iron. In the artsy village of Joseph visit the fascinating local museum, shop to your heart's content, take snapshots of gorgeous outdoor sculptures and enjoy lunch at one of the many restaurants. Touring the foundry opens our eyes to the complexity of the bronzing process and the care which Valley Bronze takes to please its artists. The showroom is filled with sculptures of all sizes and shapes and paintings adorn the walls. Lunch today is on your own to eat at a restaurant of your choice. Early afternoon depart Joseph and travel due north into southeast Washington. As we traverse the scenic and winding Rattlesnake Pass you'll want to grab your camera and take a quick shot. We'll stop at the incredible Joseph Canyon Overlook to learn of the Nez Perce influence in the area then make our way to Clarkston, where we spend the next two nights. 3 Day 4: Thursday, July 12 Snake River, Hells Canyon Bighorn sheep Like nowhere else on earth, beautiful unspoiled sights await us in Hells Canyon! From the winding Snake River to the sculpted mountain peaks, Hells Canyon offers gorgeous scenery, flora and wildlife. A seven-hour narrated fully-equipped jet-boat tour takes us 59-miles deep into the Canyon, from Washington, through Idaho and into Oregon, where the Salmon and Imnaha Rivers converge with the Snake River. See 2000-year old petroglyphs. Keep your eyes peeled for elk, bighorn sheep, eagles, and even bear! Our private jet-boat stops twice so we can stretch our legs and enjoy a tasty lunch at Garden Creek Lodge. This is a day not soon forgotten! Grab your camera to take along. Enticing are four floors of antiques and collectibles and historic mill equipment. Stop to see a unique sculptural replica of a hillside Lewis & Clark Encampment and then the oldest train depot in the state, now a tiny museum and gift shop. Lunch at Walla Walla's elegantly restored Marcus Whitman Hotel and be sure not to miss David Manuel s historic oil paintings of the 1800 s Whitman Massacre in their second-floor hallway. Our travel continues to Pendleton to the Tamastslikt Cultural Institute, home to dramatic exhibits and artwork, covering the history of the Cayuse, Umatilla and Walla Walla Indian tribes. Then check into our comfortable Dayton Historic Train Depot hotel located within 1 1/2 blocks of the Pendleton Shari's Restaurant. Dine here or elsewhere at your leisure. 4 Day 6: Saturday, July 14 Pendleton and Hood River Visit the historic Pendleton Underground for a look at its colorful and lively past. Walk through inter-connected subterranean rooms where days of old come to life. Then tour Hamley & Co, innovators in the saddle industry since Fascinating historic relics, photographs, beautiful custom saddles and bronzes illuminate the old western spirit. Lunch is served in the friendly Hamley Steak House with its turn-of-the-century decor, then we begin our journey westward toward home. Enroute we stop at Multnomah Falls, Oregon's highest waterfall, for an ice cream or photo op, then continue on to our drop-off points. Deposit: $250 per person due at time of reservation. Payment/Cancellation Policy: Payment is required in full sixty (60) days prior to tour departure, no later than May 9 or at time of booking if reservation is made within 60 days of departure. If payment is not received by this time, reservations may be cancelled and any waitlisted passenger could be placed in the vacant seat. Cancellations received after final payment date is charged $100 per person cancellation fee plus any irretrievable payments made to vendors. Cancellations made less than seven (7) days prior to departure including no-shows are non-refundable. Trip cancellation insurance is recommended. Call for details. 5 Lodging: The Eagle Cap Chalets are located inside the Wallowa State Park. It is a short walk to the lake and the gondola. This comfortable lodge includes a heated outdoor pool, hot tub, Espresso Bar and mini golf. Some rooms are up a flight of stairs. The Quality Inn in Clarkston is located on the Snake River with riverfacing rooms. Its amenities include a heated outdoor pool, lounge and restaurant, and paved scenic path along the riverfront. The Holiday Inn Express is one of Pendleton s top rated hotels. It has an indoor pool and fitness center. If travel requires more than two (2) hours, we plan a rest stop. Seat rotation on the bus will take place daily. While a nametag will be provided to you, wearing the nametag is always optional. For proper portage, please have your name on your luggage except hand carry items. Please limit yourself to one (1) piece of luggage requiring portage.
