2 Day 1 Wednesday, May 18: Quebec City, Canada Itinerary All participants will meet for introductions and to attend an extensive briefing covering the general procedures of our journey. Afterwards, we ll enjoy a welcome cocktail and dinner. Hotel: Chateau Frontenac Welcome cocktail and Dinner included Day 2 Thursday, May 19: Quebec City Kuujjuaq, Canada Kangerlussuaq, Greenland NM We ll fly over the immense forests and numerous lakes of Labrador on our way to Kuujjuaq for a technical stop. Then continue over southern Greenland s beautiful scenery before landing at Kangerlussuaq. Because we will be approaching the Arctic Circle and the land of the midnight sun, we will have an astonishing 20 hours of daylight! Hotel: Hotel Kangerlussuaq Day 3 Friday, May 20: Kangerlussuaq Reykjavik, Iceland 730 NM Fly over ice-covered Greenland and then do our second water crossing. Upon arrival, we ll transfer to the Hotel Borg where we will enjoy luxury accommodations in the very center of Reykjavik. The Hotel Borg overlooks the beautiful square of Austurvöllur, and is situated across from Althingi, the Icelandic parliament and the cathedral. After dinner at the hotel, you may want to venture on your own to experience the local nightlife. Hotel: Hotel Borg Day 4 Saturday, May 21: Reykjavik Enjoy a full day of sightseeing with a visit to the famous Geysir hot spring area with numerous hot springs and geysers - one of them erupts every few minutes; take a look at the magnificent waterfall Gullfoss; visit the volcanic crater Kerid and the greenhouse village Hveragerdi; drive across Gjabakkavegur Pass to the Thingvellir National Park, a unique place of beauty, with its interesting geology and history; then cross Mosfellsheidi Heath to Reykjavik; visit the Blue Lagoon. It is certainly a great experience that is not to be missed. We will see volcanic craters, geysers, waterfalls and the national park Thingvellir, which is Iceland s national treasure and one of its most beautiful spots. Hotel: Hotel Borg Day 5 Sunday, May 22: Reykjavik Stavanger, Norway Paris, France NM Fly to Norway for a technical stop at Stavanger. Our flight then continues to Pontoise, a small airport 30mn from downtown Paris. This selected airport is out of the heavy air traffic with inexpensive landing fees. Upon arrival, transfer to our deluxe hotel located in the 8 th District near the Eiffel Tower and the Champs Elysees. 3 Day 6 Monday, May 23: Paris An introduction to Paris for first time visitors with a half-day city tour of the Eiffel Tower, Trocadero, St. Germain des pres, Notre Dame, Le Marais is on schedule in the morning. In addition, outside the hotel you have the prestigious Avenue Montaigne as well as the Champs Elysees for great shopping. Tonight we ll enjoy a dinner river cruise and discover Paris by night. Hotel: Plaza Athenee Day 7 Tuesday, May 24: Paris Today is at leisure to enjoy the city. Optional tours as Louvre Museum, Orsay Museum, Cooking Class, Wine tasting can be some optional activities we can arrange for you in advance. Hotel: Plaza Athenee Day 8 Wednesday, May 25: Paris Ibiza, Spain 605 NM Fly to Spain and discover the charming island of Ibiza. This island has no secrets for us as we have enjoyed our family vacation here for the past 25 years. With a mixture of Greek and Moroccan style, this beautiful island is ideal for exploring its beautiful, typical countryside. Our hotel, Fenicia Prestige Thalasso Spa, is situated on the banks of the Santa Eulalia River. Hotel: Fenicia Prestige Hotel Day 9 Thursday, May 26: Ibiza Enjoy a beautiful day discovering the island. We will take a boat cruise to Formentara (weather permitting) with lunch included. Later we ll take a sunset walking tour in the old city of Ibiza offering impressive examples of local architecture and outstanding views. 4 Day 11 Saturday, May 28: Ibiza Venice, Italy 630 NM After breakfast, transfer to the airport to fly to our next destination, Venice. Upon arrival, we will transfer to the Cipriani hotel. Situated on the tip of Giudecca Island, this luxury hotel commands unrivalled views of the lagoon and Doge s Palace. Giudecca offers a serene retreat from the bustling central islands. The afternoon is free to enjoy this romantic city embellished with monuments of rare splendor making it truly unique. Hotel: Cipriani Day 12 Sunday, May 29: Venice Today we will explore this delightful city together. We ll begin by water taxi to explore the Grand Canal before arriving at St. Marks for a visit of the Doge's Palace, St.Mark's Cathedral and a short walking tour of the St.Mark's area. Hotel: Cipriani Day 13 Monday, May 30: Venice Budapest, Hungary Fly to Budapest the jewel of the Danube. Straddling the romantic Danube River, Budapest is the most beautiful city in central Europe. The human legacy is just as remarkable as Mother Nature s. Architecturally, Budapest is a gem, with enough baroque, neoclassical, Eclectic and art nouveau (or Secessionist) buildings to satisfy anyone s appetite. The city s history dates back to the Celtic civilization of Aquincum whose ruins can be found in Budapest. Hotel: Four Seasons Gresham Palace Hotel Day 14 Tuesday, May 31: Budapest Explore Budapest s two regions: Buda, the western bank s historic Castle District; and Pest, the commercial district and seat of government. See all the sights including Hero s Square, Parliament House, Gellert Hill, Matthias Church and Fisherman s Bastion. Hotel: Four Seasons Gresham Palace Hotel Day 15 Wednesday, June 1: Budapest Stockholm, Sweden Fly to Stockholm. Rich in history and tradition, the more than 130 year old Grand Hotel Stockholm occupies a prime position on the city's waterfront overlooking the Royal Palace and Gamla Stan, Stockholm s old town, a timeless classic that has played a pivotal role in shaping Stockholm as the cosmopolitan city that it is today. The hotel has borne witness to some of the world's greatest achievements. Since 1901, the Nobel Prize laureates and their families have all been guests of the Grand Hotel Stockholm and the list of royalty, heads of state and artists who have stayed is impressive. 5 Day 16 Thursday, June 2: Stockholm Enjoy a city tour with our local guide to visit the wealthy Ostermalm District with the central city areas of Hotorget and Sergel Plaza and the Renaissance styled Royal Palace. Next we ll explore the 18th to 20th century buildings in the Kungsholmen district including City Hall (this is where the Nobel Prize Award dinners are held every year). Day 17 Friday, June 3: Stockholm Today is at leisure to relax or explore on your own. Hotel: Grand Hotel Stockholm Day 18 Saturday, June 4: Stockholm Reykjavik Our drive continues to the southern shore of Saltsjon island for an amazing view of the city from the top of picturesque Fjallgatan Street. Continue to Stockholm s charming Old Town, Gamla Stan, with time to stroll along the charming cobblestoned streets. Hotel: Grand Hotel Stockholm After breakfast and an in-depth briefing, we will launch for our over-water crossing to Iceland. Upon arrival in Reykjavik, transfer to the Hotel Borg. Hotel: Hotel Borg Day 19 Sunday, June 5: Reykjavik Nuuk, Greenland Goose Bay, Canada NM After breakfast and another in-depth briefing, we will fly to Goose Bay with a stop in Nuuk for lunch and to refuel before taking our final over-water crossing and touching down on the North American continent in Canada. Hotel: Hotel North Day 20 Monday, June 6: Goose Bay Home After breakfast and a briefing, we will fly our separate ways as we complete our journey home. Breakfast included NOTES: Because of the numerous climate zones we will be crossing and the complex logistics required for this journey, all participants should be ready for some last minute changes. On every Flying Day, lunch is not included. For safety we recommend you order a lunch box at the hotel on the day before departure which will be charged to your room. Do not eat at the airports! There is no tour on the schedule of each day of arrival so you can relax at your beautiful hotels. Our half-day city tours are normally scheduled for the morning after our arrival at a destination. All dinners while on this tour are a la carte. A Pilots Meeting will be scheduled the evening prior to the next day s flight for each destination. Hotels may change within same category until two weeks before departure or during the tour if a delay makes the hotels no longer available. 7 Terms & Conditions Our land program includes: Presence of an Air Journey tour leader who will facilitate clearances, Immigration, refueling, flight planning, and provide help with any difficulty that might arise Full-time services of a professional Air Journey guide and local experts Lodging: for 20 days, 19 nights Meals: All breakfasts and most lunches and dinners Wine selected by Air journey is included with dinner. All other beverages are not included. Tours and admission to all planned group sightseeing All service charges and taxes Round trip transfers between airport and hotel Customs expediting Customs and Immigration forms (filled by Air Journey when possible) Briefing prior to every flight covering all aspects of the flight Our land program does not include: Travel Insurance (available, call us for details) Airport departure taxes Beverages except as noted above Personal expenses such as laundry, room service, communication charges and other incidentals Please note that hotel accommodations and sightseeing are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. Air Journey reserves the right to amend the order of sightseeing as necessary. Every effort will be made to operate tours as planned but alterations may occur after the final itinerary has been issued. Passports are mandatory for the Journey. Air Journey has quoted this itinerary with a minimum participation of 5 airplanes. The Registration fee includes: Extensive Navigation log (airports, route, frequencies, information of airspace, nav-aids, reporting points, international flight plan) tailored for each aircraft; Flight plans and eapis manifest (departure and arrival) filed on your behalf; Pilot briefing prior to each day s flight; Weather website with constant updates showing TAF, METAR, Wind Aloft, prognostic forecast and review; Fuel availability confirmed along the route of flight; Jeppesen navigation charts and approach plates; Flight bag and collared, cotton shirt for the pilot with his name and aircraft tail number embroidered on the upper front. Shirts are available for passengers and crew at an additional cost. Cancellation, refunds: a) Cancellation by the client: Is always required in writing and is subject to the following schedule of dates, whereby some or all moneys paid will be retained: i) Given outside of 90 days of departure: AJ retains $500 per person and plane registration fee ii) Between 90 and 60 days of departure: AJ retains 50% of tour cost and plane registration fee iii) Between 59 and 45 days of departure: AJ retains 75% of tour cost and plane registration fee iv) Less than 45 days or no show of departure: AJ retains 100% of tour cost and plane registration fee b) Cancellation by AJ: Should AJ cancel the tour after deposits have been received due to fewer than the minimum participants required, the full deposit will be refunded. Should AJ cancel the tour at any time due to factors beyond their control (including war, flood, force of nature, riot, civil action), they will refund the client whatever portion of moneys are reimbursed by ground operators and accommodation suppliers. Survival equipment is available for rental on a daily basis and will be waiting for you at our departure point. Contact us for details. Life vests are mandatory. A life raft is recommended. Travel and Cancellation Insurance Travel and Cancellation Insurance is strongly recommended and not included in the package but it can be purchased from Air Journey for approximately 6% of the cost of the Journey.
