1 The Second Annual Coastal Forum Building Resilience to Climate Change Impacts: Coastal Southeast Asia Information Note on proceedings in Soc Trang Province Venue: Provincial Conference Centre, Soc Trang City, Soc Trang Province, Viet Nam Date: October, Travel arrangements in Soc Trang Province Timing bus departs from hotel to conference centre: Buses depart at for hotels which do not serve breakfast and at 8:00AM for hotels that serve breakfast. After breakfast, the buses will transport you directly to the conference centre. We request you to please be punctual, as the buses will depart on time. For those staying in Tin Hoa 2 hotel and Que Huong hotel, the conference centre is within a short walking distance of approximately 05 minutes. Volunteers will accompany Tin Hoa 2 hotel guests to the conference centre in the morning. Since Que Huong hotel is also the location of the conference centre venue, voluntary assistance will not be provided here. Please note: If you wish to stay on in conference centre after the sessions for the day on 15 or 16 October, please return to the hotel by taxi at your own expense. 2. Transportation To travel around Soc Trang town, you can use a taxi from one recommended taxi company: Mai Linh taxi (telephone: ). Fares are around 18,000 VND/km (~1USD/km). 3. Accommodation Hotel rooms have been reserved for you during the Coastal Forum. Participants will stay at 8 different hotels.

Check-out procedure: On 18 October, the check-out timing for all guests is just before your bus departs from the hotel in the morning to the conference centre. Please note: We will not be returning to the hotels after you have checked out, so do ensure your luggage is loaded onto your respective bus before leaving your hotel in the morning. For Cambodian participants information: All Cambodian participants will stay overnight in Soc Trang and check out from their hotels on 19 October.

3 4. Breakfasts and other meals Breakfast will be served in Tin Hoa 2 hotel, Que Huong hotel, Thien Duong hotel and Tin Hoa 1 hotel from 6:00AM onwards. Please note: If your hotel is not mentioned in the above list, you will be taken by bus to a breakfast venue in the morning. This bus will depart from your hotel at. Please be sure to pre-order your breakfast at the hotel reception on the night before. Lunch will be served at the conference centre on October 15, 16 and 18. A welcome dinner will be held on October 15 from 6:00PM 8:30PM at Ngoc Suong hotel. A bus will drop you back to your hotel from the conference centre at around 5:15PM. The bus will wait for 30 minutes at your hotel, and will then depart for the dinner venue at 5:45PM sharp. The bus will drop you back to your hotel after the dinner at around 9:00PM. 5. Field trip There will be a full day field trip to the coastal zone on 17 October. Please refer to the field trip information sheets in your conference pack. You are advised to take along a wide brim hat, raincoat, long sleeve shirt, and suitable shoes. Please be aware that it may be muddy in the field site. Do also carry insect repellent with you. The buses for the field trips will depart from the conference centre at 8:30AM. Lunch will be provided at a local restaurant. Your field trip bus will drop you back to your hotel on return. You will have the option to choose one field trip visit. Please note: Registration for field trips is on a first come first serve basis and registrations will open on 15 October during the afternoon coffee break. 6. Voluntary assistance Most local people do not speak English and only converse in Vietnamese. There will be a team of local volunteers to assist you in case you need help with interpretation. The volunteers can help you to visit tourist spots, gift shops, order food, buy items and medicine etc. They will also provide guidance on directions to and from the hotel as well as inside the conference centre.
