3 Centre d'exposition de Rouyn-Noranda Exhibition centre - Art / History and society - Contemporary Art The Centre d'exposition de Rouyn-Noranda has been a forum for artists from the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region and elsewhere since it was founded. Every year, its two galleries host some fifteen shows. While its main emphasis is on the visual arts, the Centre also presents various thematic exhibitions dealing with art, history, ethnology, science and so on. Educational programs are increasingly popular with the public and more than six workshops are organized each year. When you resurface, visit the analysis laboratory to learn the steps involved in refining gold. The Dumulon house takes you back to the early days of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue and Rouyn-Noranda regions, the capital of copper and a veritable Klondike in the 1920s. This unforgettable heritage attraction recreates Rouyn-Noranda s first general store (opened in 1924 by Joseph Dumulon), first post office and the cosy Dumulon home. Take a guided tour of the period building, the only one of its kind in the province, and learn about the history of nursing stations in the colony. Visitors can look forward to a vivid experience thanks to the multimedia show and guides, and a dynamic history lesson depicting the rich Abitibi heritage.
