The Dong ethnic minority group is one Guizhou's largest minority groups. There are over two and a half million Dong people in China. The Dong minority was first established in the Tang Dynasty ( ). The Dong people are primarily farmers and they are famous for their architecture and for the spinning and embroidering done by the Dong women. They live in villages constructed of Minority Girls wooden buildings which are watched over by the Dong drum towers. Like all of China's other minority groups, the Dong ethnic minority group has its own unique clothing. The women's clothing is made up of a dark cloth with colorful accents on the hems and sleeves. Their headdresses are colorful and are usually made of silver. Longji (Dragon s Spine) terraced rice paddies, which are built over the hillsides that reach up to 800 meters from the valley floor. These terraced rice paddies are probably the most impressive and beautiful in the world and Zhuang minority villages (the Yao are closely related to the Hmong people and the Zhuang speak a a language that is closely related to Thai and Lao). 2 PROPOSED ITINERARY (Day 1) Hong Kong Guiyang (MON, WED,FRI & SUN only) Depart from Hong Kong Airport to Guiyang, capital of Guizhou. HX 352 Hong Kong Airport Guiyang 1240/1430 (Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun) Upon arrival in Guiyang Airport, meet by your English speaking guide and will transfer to city of Guiyang. First visit is Jiaxiu Tower, located on the top of a boulder above the Nanming River of Guiyang City. It was built in 1598 in Ming Dynasty. This tower is about 20 meters high with three floors. White stone parapets, green tiles and engraved windows form a spectacular tower. Under Jiaxiu Tower is Fuyu Bridge (Jade Floating Bridge), made of white stone and well-engraved parapets. From a distance, the bridge looks like a dragon floating in the river. There are nine small holes in Fuyu Bridge. People call it nine eyes shine the Shazhou. After the liberation, only seven holes are visible. Check in hotel for rest of the day and free time on guest own dinner. It is located in east of Guiyang and about 29 kilometers from there. The old town covers 3 square kilometers and follows the style of Ming and Qing dynasty. Some inside structure is also preserved well up to present. It includes nine temples, eight joss houses, five pavilions, Qingyan Town three caves, two ancestral halls, one palace and one yard, 30 in total. Such age-old buildings are characterized by majesty vigor and wonderful craftwork, which will make tourists acclaim as the peak of perfection. Afterwards You will be driven from Guiyang to Kaili 220 kilometers (2.5 hours). In Kaili you will visit the Kaili Ethnic Museum, which will give you an excellent introduction to the clothing of Guizhou's ethnic minority groups. In the afternoon you will be driven to Qingman Miao minority village. Mini-skirt ethnic village, a quiet village inhabited by the Folded & Silkfelt Miao, where we will learn about their culture. 3 Kaili Paika Village ~ Shui Ethnic Village ~ Rongjiang (B fast) (Date 3) Jidao Village After breakfast, In the morning, you will be driven from Kaili along the Bala River to the village of Jidao 65 kilometers (1 hour), a beautiful village filled with traditional wooden houses and waterwheels. Then you will visit the village of Paika to learn about the Lusheng, a traditional Miao ethnic musical instrument made from a gourd. After lunch enroute, continue to visit Shui Ethnic Village, another Long-skirt Miao Village to experience a different custom. The life, festival, costume as well as the custom of Shui People is totally different from that of Miao People. Late afternoon, arrive at Rongjiang county. Rongjiang in Chinese means Banyan tree and river, as it is located in the meeting point of three rivers and there are many Banyan tress along the rivers. Visit Di Ping Wind and Rain Bridge, the symbolized architecture of the Dong minority people. The wind and rain bridge in Diping is the largest of its kind in Guizhou Province, Visit the Basha Miao Ethnic Village to explore Basha Miao Village noted for men's hair dresses. Basha Miao Village, home to over 1,000 residents living in more than 400 households, Drive to Zhaoxing for overnight. From Zhaoxing we will continue our journey for Guizhou travel south into Guangxi Province, visit Sanwang temple, which was set for three sons of Yelang emperor. Sanjiang in Guangxi province, a village inhabited by the South Dong, one of the two subgroups of the Dong ethnic minority. A short drive away from Sanjiang will take us to Chenyang, a quaint little village with one of the largest Fengyuqiaos (Wind and rain bridge) in the region. Here we will explore Dong Village Zhaoxing Village morning the villages on foot, visiting lively markets and hillside farms. Visit Chengyang Roof Covered Bridge: One of the most beautiful & well protected shelter bridges in China, constructed in 1911,finished in The bridge is 64.4 meters long, 3.4 meters wide, 10.6 meters high, with beautiful shelters construction on it. We continue our way with about 2.5 hours drive from Chengyang to Longsheng, the world s famous Rice Terrace. Need to walk about 30 minutes up to the mountain for your hotel tonight. Then we will drive about 3 hours direct to Yangshuo and check-in hotel, After dinner, we will watch the famous Liu Sanjie lightshow, which is directed by Zhang Yimou, the same man who presented the spectacular Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony. Passengers are entranced with the harmonious picture of women washing clothes beside the river, ducks swimming on the river, bamboo rafts moving under the old bridge, and farmers working in the fields. Yulong has a different kind of beauty than the Li River. Along the Yulong River you can find Fuli Bridge, Guiyi Original Site, Ancient Village, Xiangui Bridge, the Zhus'Camp, Bamboo Rafting Chuan Cave, Rhinoceros Deep Pool, Zhaoyang Camp, Seven Stars and other scenic spots. After getting off the bamboo raft, the local guide will lead you to Fuli Bridge to view this small ancient town. After lunch in Fuli Town, we continue our trip to Liugong Village. Take this road all the way to Liugong Village the end where you'll enter the quiet Li River village of Liugong. You can walk the 800 year old streets of admire the architecture and walk around the ancient cobbled streets of this 800 year old village. Close to the village are the remarkable three-color ponds. The water level in the ponds always remains the same throughout the year regardless of the water level of the Li River. Then, we will drive to Guilin Airport for flight bound for Hong Kong.
