Remark: In accordance with Article 9, "Each State Party shall take all appropriate legal, administrative and other measures, including the imposition of penal sanctions, to prevent and suppress any activity prohibited to a State Party under this Convention undertaken by persons or on territory under its jurisdiction or control". 3 Form B Stockpiled anti-personnel mines Article 7. 1 "Each State Party shall report to the Secretary-General... on: b) The total of all stockpiled anti-personnel mines owned or possessed by it, or under its jurisdiction or control, to include a breakdown of the type, quantity and, if possible, lot numbers of each type of anti-personnel mine stockpiled." State [Party]: Bosnia and Herzegovina reporting for time period from January to December 2009 The State Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina has destroyed all stocks of landmines except those retained for training purposes as allowed in the Convention. This was reported in our last report. Detailed figures are as follows. BH Armed Forces have 333 AP Mines without fuses for training purposes. MDDC (Mine Detection Dogs Centre Bosnia and Herzegovina) have 565 mines without fuses in use as targets for explosive detecting dogs testing. Mine Action Centre (BHMAC) 332 mines kept for training purposes. The mines are fuse-less and in use on BHMAC MDD testing polygons. Civil Protection Republic of Srpska 10 AP mines without fuses. Civil Protection of Federation BiH 64 AP mines without fuses. Other demining companies 951 mines without fuses. Total in BiH: mines without fuses.

20 Form I Measures to provide warning to the population Article 7.1 "Each State Party shall report to the Secretary-General... on: i) The measures taken to provide an immediate and effective warning to the population in relation to all areas identified under paragraph 2 of Article 5." Remark: In accordance with Article 5, para.2: "Each State Party shall make every effort to identify all areas under its jurisdiction or control in which antipersonnel mines are known or suspected to be emplaced and shall ensure as soon as possible that all anti-personnel mines in mined areas under its jurisdiction or control are perimeter-marked, monitored and protected by fencing or other means, to ensure the effective exclusion of civilians, until all antipersonnel mines contained therein have been destroyed. The marking shall at least be to the standards set out in the Protocol on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Mines, Booby-Traps and Other Devices, as amended on 3 May 1996, annexed to the Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons Which May Be Deemed to Be Excessively Injurious or to Have Indiscriminate Effects". State [Party]: Bosnia and Herzegovina reporting for time period from January to December 2009 [Narrative:] Monitoring of MRE Standards and MRE Standing Operative Procedures implementation, coordination, supervision and integration of MRE with other mine action activities were focus of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mine Action Centre regarding mine risk education. Besides, implementation of two pilot projects Development of municipal planning for mine actions in municipalities Lopare and Gradacac started in NGO Posavina bez mina (NGO Posavina without mines) and Association of Red Cross in Bosnia with financial and technical support of UNICEF implement the projects. Bosnia and Herzegovina Mine Action Centre started Municipal planning of mine action in fourteen (14) new municipalities, in particular drafting of Action Plans and Programs for mine action on municipal level. In the reported period five (7) integral mine action plans have been subject of control, in order to improve MRE activities and their liaisons with operations of humanitarian demining. Moreover, two coordination meetings of Implementation Board for MRE have been held in the reporting period. The aim of the meeting was presentation of Mine Risk Education Sub-strategy for period and notification about the beginning of amendment process for MRE Standards and SOP. In 2009, Demining Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted MRE Sub-strategy for period Second meeting of Implementation Board for MRE has been held with aim to exchange information with organization accredited for LMVA and plan activities for In organization of BHMAC following trainings have been held: Technical inspections of MRE activities for representatives of eight (8) organizations accredited for MRE that eleven (11) participants completed successfully and Management of MRE for representatives of six (6) organizations accredited for MRE that fifteen (15) participants completed successfully. NGO Stop Mines organized with financial support of Eko Sport Group and Handicap International training for MRE instructors that 30 participants completed successfully. Participants were representatives of accredited organizations for mine risk education. The licenses for commercial and education materials on MRE were issued to organizations accredited for mine risk education. Several presentations and lectures on General assessment of mine situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and mine risk education to representatives of governmental, nongovernmental and international organizations have been held in the reported period. Also,

21 monthly MRE reports of accredited organization for mine risk education have been collected regularly and entered in database, as well as data gathered through technical inspections of activates implemented by organizations accredited for mine risk education. In 2009, 18 mine risk education projects have been completed by accredited demining organization wherein persons received mine risk education. 22 Form J Other relevant matters Remark: States Parties may use this form to report voluntarily on other relevant matters, including matters pertaining to compliance and implementation not covered by the formal reporting requirements contained in Article 7. States Parties are encouraged to use this form to report on activities undertaken with respect to Article 6, and in particular to report on assistance provided for the care and rehabilitation, and social and economic reintegration, of mine victims. State [Party]: Bosnia and Herzegovina reporting for time period from January to December 2009 [Narrative / reference to other reports:] In 2009, applying different methods suspected area was reduced for km² or 110,66% of the plan. In the reported period in Bosnia and Herzegovina are registered 22 mine/demining accidents with 28 casualties, out of which 9 death persons and 19 injured. Out of total planned area for survey, BHMAC survey teams surveyed m 2 or 89,63% of the area planed for survey and prepared 873 projects. Altogether in clearance and technical survey operations was processed m 2 of risk area or 41,24% of the plan. Through operations of technical survey risk area was reduced for m 2 or 49,94% of the annual plan. Through clearance operations risk area was reduced for m 2 or 20,93% of the plan, and mines were found and destroyed or average 11,66 mines per hectare. In the reported period, 877 pieces of UXO were found and destroyed, and 20 houses demined. In 2009, have been realized 66 projects of permanent marking in total area of m 2. During 2009 placed mine-warning signs or 48,98% of the plan. In the reported period, Bosnia and Herzegovina Mine Action Centre prepared and submitted on 11 tenders to ITF scoping 165 projects for clearance, technical survey and permanent marking in total area m 2. In the reported period, (40,60%) technical inspections were conducted on 413 demining sites or average of 10,81 inspections per demining sites. In 2009, representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mine Action Centre, continuously active in domain of mine victims assistance, held three (3) coordination and several individual meetings with representatives of competent ministries as well as nongovernmental sector to exchange information. Mutual briefing, preparation and improvement of the work in domain of LMVA have been main aim of these meetings. The coordination with the BA authorities and NGOs has been enhanced providing the first precondition to achieve full awareness of the BA authorities at all levels on the problems faced by landmine victims of landmines as well as current activities in the field. Representatives of BHMAC actively participated in all workgroups and other activities organized by nongovernmental organizations dealing with LMVA issues. During reporting period data on mine victims have been continuously collected and entered in LMVA database of BHMAC, and reports made available to all interested parties. Besides, the report of Bosnia and Herzegovina pursuant to Article 5 of Ottawa Convention regarding landmine victims assistance has been made. In 2009, the successful realization of the project Revision of national database on landmine victims concluded the first phase of LMVA review. Further activities include updates and additions of the landmine victims data in order to harmonize the LMVA database with databases of competent ministries. The BHMAC provided continuous support to the project s implementer and the office for data entry until the very end of the project. Moreover, continuous improvement of informative system for LMVA resulted in modernization of LMVA database. At the end of 2009, in database of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mine Action Centre has been registered 19 organizations engaged in activities of landmine victims assistance.
