18 The Eco Centre Visit the Eco Centre, a place to learn in a lively atmosphere about the marine life, fauna and flora that live on and around Villingili. Have a chat with our in-house marine biologist and learn more about the conservation work carried out by the resort plus how you can support these initiatives. Help us keep our coral reefs healthy Corals are fragile living organisms. By following these simple tips, you can help us protect our marvellous underwater ecosystem: Never touch the coral reef even dead corals need to remain intact to provide a surface for new colonies to grow. Stay out of touching distance of the reef as currents can easily move you closer to the reef. Never walk on top of the reef. To access the house reef, use the marked snorkelling channel in Whispering Palms and swim out in a single file to the reef slope. Remain in a horizontal position to prevent your fins from touching corals beneath you. For more information on coral reef life, please visit the Eco Centre. Wildlife in and around Villingili Kindly refrain from feeding fish. Unnatural fish food such as bread can damage their digestive systems ultimately resulting in their death. Artificially feeding reef fish also disturbs their important role in keeping the reef clean. Geckos are small, harmless lizards living in tropical climates. Villingili Island is a perfect natural habitat for geckos and you can easily spot or hear them around.
