2 Your 9-Day Journey Day 1 Depart for Bridgetown, Barbados Enjoy your private car home pick up service. Guests departing from the Toronto airport are assisted with their check-in. Meet your Journey Manager and fellow guests, and board your flight to Bridgetown, Barbados. Our Journey Manager travels with you to take care of all the details throughout the journey, enabling you to concentrate on your experience. Our local guide greets us on arrival and we check in to our hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. In the evening, enjoy dinner at our hotel. Overnight Bridgetown, Accra Beach Hotel, 1 night (D) Day 2 Bridgetown Barbados is an island nation located to the far east of the Windward Islands. With white sand beaches, turquoise waters, and a UNESCO World Heritage-listed capital, Barbados is a tropical wonderland waiting for you to explore. Take the morning at leisure before setting out on a guided walking tour through historic Bridgetown. Visit highlights such as Heroes Square, Rockers Alley, and the chapel of St. Mary s Church. Barbados, considered the birthplace of rum, and Mount Gay Distillery, founded in 1703, is believed to be the oldest rum found anywhere in the world. We enjoy a typical Bajan lunch before visiting Mount Gay to learn how sugar cane is fermented into rum and then have a chance to sample some of their award-winning rums. Following the tour, board the majestic Royal Clipper, your home for the next seven days. Settle in to your cabin and relax on board or begin exploring at your own pace. Overnight Royal Clipper, 7 nights Day 3 Captain s Best, Grenadines With more than 30 islands, most of which are uninhabited, the Grenadines are untouched paradise. This chain of tropical islands in the southern Lesser Antilles are part of the Windward Islands and are known for yacht-filled harbours, stunning sailing, and quiet cays. Today, we call on one of these islands for a blissful and relaxing beach day. Day 4 St. George s, Grenada Grenada is fondly referred to as the Spice Island, and for good reason. With numerous spice plantations dotting the island s countryside, the aromas of nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla baking in the sun drift through the air. This Caribbean nation is made up of one main island and six smaller islands and offers lush landscapes of rich green hills and silky stretches of pure sand beaches. St. George is the capital of Grenada and has a long history. From the colourful homes and Georgian buildings set against the backdrop of the turquoise sea to the early-18 th -century Fort George overlooking the horseshoe-shaped Carenage, this vibrant city offers many spectacular views. Included Shore Excursion Spice Isle s Lasting Memories Begin with a visit to two of the island s most important fortresses. Fort George, is located at the heart of the capital, standing majestically atop a volcanic spine at a staggering height of 175 feet above the city s harbour. Built in the early 1700s, this old fort stood for centuries as St. George s silent guardian. After fairing wars and revolutions alike, the fort s original structure endures as one of the finest remaining examples of Vauban-style masonry in the world. Fort Frederick, the younger of the two, stands overlooking the harbour and the Caribbean Sea. Built by the French in 1779, this imposing fortress was still in use by Grenada s armed forces in 1983 when it was targeted for bombardment by US forces during their invasion of the island that year. Our tour continues to the Grenada National Museum; step back in time with a sampling of the true heritage and culture of Grenada. Our final stop will be at the Westerhall Rum Distillery for a look into the island s rum production and an opportunity to sample some of the finest delicious aged rum brewed here! Approx. 3 hours Day 5 Tobago Cays, Grenadines Considered the Jewel in the Crown of the Southern Grenadines, the Tobago Cays are an archipelago consisting of five small islets and extensive coral reefs. They are a key element of the Tobago Cays Marine Park which was listed as a regionally significant ecosystem under the Caribbean s Specially Protected Areas and Wildlife (SPAW) Protocol in The protected national marine park is home to a wide variety of animals and plants including sea turtles, conchs, lobsters, iguanas, and coral, and offers shimmering waters, pristine beaches, and superb snorkeling. Day 6 Kingstown, St. Vincent & Admiralty Bay, Bequia St. Vincent is a volcanic island in the Caribbean Sea and the largest island of the country St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Famous for its natural beauty that includes a rugged coastline, lush rainforests, and black-sand beaches, St. Vincent is a fertile land, with rich soil and abundant rainfall. While the nation has a French and British colonial history, it gained independence on October 27, Located about 15 kilometres from the St. Vincent capital of Kingstown, Bequia, which means Island of the Clouds in the ancient Arawak, is the second largest island in the Grenadines at 18 square kilometres. Admiralty Bay, the natural harbour of Port Elizabeth, is a relatively shallow and quiet port, attracting yachts and smaller vessels looking for an unspoiled island town and uncrowded waterfront. Begin at Fort Charlotte which was built by the British in the colonial days and sits atop Berkshire Hill. Admire the three most dominant churches built in the 18 th century, with the Roman Catholic being the most unique. Built in stages, it has several styles of architecture and reflects the many additions it has undergone. The Methodist Church and St. George s Anglican Cathedral were both built by slaves and recently renovated. Sit back and relax as you enjoy the historical yet interesting stories of the Windward side of the country from your humorous and informative tour guide. Travelling further in the country, listen to the thunderous surf surrounded by mountains, dotted with beautiful houses perched on their sides. Enjoy a refreshing chilled drink before returning to the Royal Clipper. Approx. 3 hours Day 7 Fort-de-France, Martinique Martinique is a rugged island that is classic French Caribbean. An overseas region of France located in the Lesser Antilles, the nation has a rich culture that reflects a unique blend of French and West Indian influences. Martinique s largest town, Fort-de-France, has narrow streets, steep hills, bustling cafes and quaint boutiques. Enjoy a full morning of sightseeing the island s top attractions, followed by an afternoon of soaking up the sun and swimming in the warm tropical waters of one of Martinique s picture-perfect beaches. Enjoy a scenic drive along the Caribbean Coastal Road, with a stop at Carbet Beach with its calm sea, transparent waters, and black sand. Then, venture off to the small coastal town of Saint Pierre, the Little Paris of the Antilles. Once destroyed by the island s volcano, Mount Pelee, the town was partially rebuilt on the ruins. Take some pictures and admire the scenery of this majestic mountain. Time permitting, we will visit the capital, Fort de France before returning to the ship. Approx. 3 hours Day 8 Marigot Bay & Soufrière, St. Lucia An island abounding with geographic and cultural riches, St. Lucia is full of wonder and surprises. One of the prettiest anchorages in the Caribbean, Marigot Bay is nestled along the western shores, surrounded by lush hills, and ringed by drooping coconut palms. On the southwest coast of the island, sits the little port town of Soufrière, named after a nearby volcano. It features hidden beaches, old plantations, and the stunning Pitons. Included Shore Excursion Magical Soufrière Explore the panoramic west coast of the island as you visit some of the most scenic areas and relive life as it was in bygone days. Drive through charming villages along the island s west coast and the rich island vegetation to the magical town of Soufrière. Visit the Caribbean s only drive-in volcano with its bubbling Sulphur Springs. See the majestic pitons as they rise sheer out of the sea. Visit the island s only working plantation with interesting practices of bygone days, all within a traditional village setting. Approx. 4 hours Day 9 Bridgetown & Home This morning, we disembark the Royal Clipper and venture out of the city, into the tropical countryside as we experience the east coast of Barbados. Heading inland, we stop at Farley Hill National Park to see the vibrant gardens, spectacular views, and ruins of the once-majestic Great House an elegant stone mansion built by Sir Graham Briggs in the early 1800s. Visit the historic and picturesque St. John s Parish Church, which was constructed in the 17 th century and is widely considered one of the most romantic spots on the island. At Sunbury Plantation, built over 300 years ago, learn about the life of a wealthy plantation owner before savouring a sumptuous buffet lunch in the courtyard. Then, we bid farewell to our new friends and make our way to the airport for our flight home. Guests arriving at the Toronto airport are greeted and assisted to their private car home.
