3 Delegates, It is with great pride that I, as the General Vice President for the Canadian Territory, welcome you to my city, Toronto Ontario Canada for our 38th Grand Lodge Convention. I am sure you will find that Toronto has much to offer. This is a vibrant and diverse city that brings together many cultural sights, flavours, sounds and events that I am certain you will find entertaining, educational and just plain fun. We are in fact situated in the heart of the city surrounded by professional sporting events encompassing Major League Baseball, Basketball, Soccer and Hockey. Top level theatre productions just blocks away. There are parks and recreation including Toronto Island and many tourist attractions such as our infamous China Town, Little Italy and much, more. For those of you so inclined, we are also renowned for a vibrant evening entertainment industry ready and able for those of you who are more inclined to dance the night away. Our streets are safe and our citizens are friendly. Please have a look through the Welcoming committee s booklet to familiarize yourself with all services and events available and please feel free to contact any members of our Host and/or Welcoming committee for any needs not already identified. 4 EMERGENCY PROCEDURES NORTH AND SOUTH BUILDING EMERGENCY NUMBER IS OR 8160 FROM CLOSEST HOUSE PHONE FIRE EMERGENCY IF YOU SEE FIRE OR SMOKE Leave the fire area immediately by the nearest exit. Close doors behind you. Activate the nearest fire alarm pull station.. Leave building by nearest exit. IN CASE OF FIRE ALARM IF YOU HEAR A FIRE ALARM ALERT SIGNAL (SLOW BEEPING SOUND). Prepare to leave the building.. Await instructions over the loud speakers (approximately one minute). IF YOU HEAR A FIRE ALARM EVACUATION SIGNAL (FAST BEEPING SOUND) Leave the building via the nearest exit. Do not use elevators. If you encounter smoke in the stairway, use alternate exits. Once outside building, stay clear and do not return until declared safe to do so by the Fire Official. Do not attempt to remove vehicles from parking garage or loading docks.. Follow instructions over loud speakers or from security staff. Remain calm...do not use elevators IN CASE OF A MEDICAL EMERGENCY Dial emergency number for security office ( / ) or 8160/8360 from closest house phone. Give exact location. Give detailed information of the injury and the cause of the injury.. Remain in contact with security until emergency personnel have arrived. 4

Next Destination PATH directional signs tell you which building you re in and the next building you ll be entering. The arrow is one of the PATH compass colours: blue (north), red (south), yellow (east), or orange (west). Street Name Street names are id d as you walk under them. Compass Which way is north? These ceiling-mounted compasses have colour-coded arrows pointing N-S-E-W. Accessibility This symbol indicates an alternative route for people with disabilities whenever a flight of stairs lies ahead. Shopping for a gift? Attending a sports event? Taking in a movie? Catching the subway? Follow the PATH and you ll reach your downtown destination easily in weatherproof comfort. Signs and maps displaying the multi-coloured PATH logo show you where to enter the walkway, direct you to where you want to go, and keep you on track until you get there. Arrows, colour-coded to North, South, East and West, point you in the right direction. After Hours Doctor Toronto offers an ON CALL Doctor Service and can be contacted via the Hotel switchboard. The On Call Physician will be paged to contact the guest. If required, they will attend the hotel. Emergencies In the event of a medical emergency requiring immediate attention: Call 0 (Hotel Switchboard) from any hotel phone. State your name, location and nature of the emergency. The operator will then notify the Security Office (ext. 4400) and staff will be dispatched to your location. Security Staff are trained in first aid and CPR. 14

Fire Alarm Information In the event of fire alarm activation an audible tone will be activated throughout the building. After one minute this tone will be replaced by an announcement. The announcement will give the location of the alarm and notify all guests that the hotel response team is investigating and that the fire department is in route. After the announcement the tones will continue.
