1 THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF GREENSTONE POLICY MANUAL SECTION: PARKS & RECREATION SUBJECT: Municipal Campgrounds DATE: March 29, 2016 AUTHORIZATION: POLICY The Municipality takes responsibility for the operation of five campgrounds within the boundaries of Greenstone: 1. Poplar Lodge Park 2. Cordingley Lake Park 3. MacLeod Provincial Park 4. Riverview Campground 5. Airplane Lake Campground Operational procedures and terms of use are unique for each campground. DETAILS OF SERVICE 1. Poplar Lodge Park Beardmore Ward Parks & Recreation Working Foreman, two (2) Seasonal Park Maintenance Operators, and Summer Student(s). MUNICIPALITYOF GREENSTONE POLICY MANUAL Parks & Rec xxxxxx 1
2 Specialized Training: Operation of Small Drinking Water Systems Campsite Reservations: Coordinated via the Beardmore Ward Municipal Office. Seasonal Site Lottery conducted. Advanced reservations not accepted. Customers are required to sign the Poplar Lodge Park Campsite Lease Agreement. 2. Cordingley Lake Park Nakina Ward Parks & Recreation Working Foreman, P&R Maintenance Operator, and Summer Student(s). Specialized Training: Well maintenance supervised by Ontario Clean Water Agency. Campsite Reservations: Coordinated via the Nakina Ward Municipal Office. Advanced reservations accepted. Long-term customers are required enter into a campsite lease agreement. 3. MacLeod Provincial Park An Agreement exists between Ontario Parks and the Municipality of Greenstone for the operation of MacLeod Park. Operational Responsibility: Contracted to Service Provider Specialized Training: Operation of Small Drinking Water System 2
3 Campsite Reservations: Coordinated via Contractor. Seasonal Site Lottery conducted. 4. Riverview Campground The operation of Riverview Campground is contracted out via the tender process. An agreement between the successful bidder and the Municipality of Greenstone exists to stipulate the terms and conditions under which the campground is operated. Operational Responsibility: Contracted to Service Provider. Maintenance is the joint responsibility of the Contractor and Municipal Staff of the Parks & Recreation Department, Longlac Ward. Specialized Training: None. Campsite Reservations: Coordinated via Contractor. 5. Airplane Lake Campground Longlac Ward Parks & Recreation staff. Specialized Training: None. Campsite Reservations: Coordinated via the Longlac Ward Municipal Office. Services Available: Non-electrical campsites. 3
4 TERMS & CONDITIONS Schedule 1: Poplar Lodge Park Campsite Lease Agreement Schedule 2: Agreement between the Municipality of Greenstone and Ontario Parks Schedule 3: Agreement between the Municipality of Greenstone and Geraldton Community Forest Schedule 4: Agreement between the Municipality of Greenstone and Northwood Lodging PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS The Public Services Department shall provide a communication plan that informs the public and municipal staff about municipal campground policies, regulations and procedures.
