1 Parents: Murray County 4-H Cloverleaf Camp Rock Eagle 4-H Center June 4-8, 2018 We hope this overview of camp will help you and your child to pack, prepare, and be ready for a week of friends, learning, and FUN they will never forget. We will be part of the Muskogee Tribe. Our colors will be red and yellow. While we are at camp, please remember that no news is good news. Calls home are only made for sickness or bad behavior. Cell phones are strongly discouraged at camp. Please contact Mrs. Richards (renarich@uga.edu) or Mrs. Skojac (sskojac@uga.edu) or call at any time if you have questions about camp. See you on Monday, June 4 at 7:30am at the 4-H office! Don t forget to sign up for Remind and the Murray County 4-H facebook page for news from camp. Turn in to the 4-H office by May 25 (or sooner!): Donations for camp such as sunscreen, snacks, Gatorade, etc... We always run out! Georgia 4-H Code of Conduct (signed by 4-H er & parent) Medical Information & Release, Medication Summary Medicine Form- only if prescribed medicine must be given Ziploc bag of prescribed medicines Label baggie with child s name Inhaler should be carried on child (spare may be included in bag) Any medications that must be used up until camp date should be turned in on morning of camp in labeled ziplock bag. All medication must be in original prescription bottle. NO medication may be carried by 4-H er, except inhaler or epi-pen If we don t have permission on Medical form, we may only administer soap, water & band aids No need to bring in over the counter meds. Each cabin has a medicine kit. Envelopes of spending money for the camp bank Label 5 envelopes with first & last name and Day 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 Put money in envelopes (suggestion $5-$7 daily). No more than $50. Include only small bills or quarters. Canteen will be open on Monday-Thursday Envelope #1 will need lunch money and canteen money (optional) and #5 will need lunch money only for the Varsity. We need to be made aware of any food allergies or special needs.

2 Pack your Bags- Please label everything! Please pack sleeping bag and/or twin sheets and pillow in a large garbage bag marked (with ribbon or special duct tape) so your child can identify their bag easily. Also pack one extra garbage bag for the trip home. Please pack everything else in one duffle bag or suitcase. Toiletries toothbrush, toothpaste shampoo, conditioner deodorant (even if you don t usually use it) hairbrush, hairdryer, hair bows towel, washcloths, and soap Any other hygiene products NO SHAVING CREAM Comfortable play clothes labeled with name NOT new clothes (clothes will get dirty and/or lost) Should meet 4-H Code of Conduct rules (no spaghetti straps) Include extra changes of clothes just in case (particularly socks) Tip: you can pack sets of clothes in gallon size bags labeled for each day for easy organization Sleepwear Shoes & Socks 1 pair of comfortable walking shoes-sport sandals strongly recommended (must have back strap) and one pair of OLD tennis shoes or sandals for lake ecology (not Crocs) Mesh laundry bag for dirty clothes Rain jacket or poncho One-piece swimsuits, or tankinis which are snug & meet in middle (no bikinis) Waterproof sunscreen & insect repellant Sunglasses and/or hat (optional) Beach towel Water bottle with name to be carried at all times Camera (optional disposable suggested with name clearly visible) Backpack/drawstring bag to carry towel, rain jacket, money for day, sunblock/ repellant, and water bottle. Digital waterproof watch (recommended) Plastic bag for wet clothing Clothing Guidelines: 1. No clothing should be worn that violates the Code on Conduct 2. Underwear should be worn at all times and should not be visible 3. Camp is rough on clothes-bring only clothes that are okay to get wet or muddy. 4. Bring extra socks and underwear-you always need them!

3 What NOT to Pack Halter tops, tops with spaghetti straps, tube tops, inappropriate logos on clothing Flip flops Bikinis Shaving cream Alcohol or tobacco products Skates, roller blades, skateboards or Heelys Anything of high value (i.e. jewelry) Inappropriate reading materials Weapons Chewing gum Personal Items of Value and Cell Phones: 4-H ers are to leave radios, computers, electronic devices, fit bits, valuable watches, and video games at home unless authorized by and used under direct supervision of the member s leader. 4- H ers are discouraged from bringing cell phones to camp and events. 4-H ers should not use cell phones after lights out. No programs are to be disturbed or interrupted by use of personal electronic equipment. 4-H ers are not allowed to bring skates, roller blades, bicycles, laser lights or other personal items that would make safety an issue. 4-H ers are discouraged from bringing excessive amounts of money to 4-H events. Georgia 4-H and the 4-H Centers assume no responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged items of value including cell phones or money that are brought to 4-H activities. Adult leaders are Certified Overnight Leaders through a UGA training program. Teen leaders are experienced 4-H ers and have been trained and certified through the Georgia 4-H Teen Leader Certification program.

4 Camp Counselors & other Rock Eagle employees Camp counselors are collegiate 4-H ers, screened and trained through UGA. Other adults at the camp are all employed, screened and trained through UGA for their specific jobs, including cafeteria staff, maintenance, and the camp director. Persons cannot come on campus without prior approval. Food All meals are served in the cafeteria Snacks available in canteen for a cost Packed snacks MUST be wrapped individually, placed in Ziploc bags and stored in suitcase. Please keep in mind that one of our campers does have a peanut allergy. Remind child to eat all meals & drink plenty of water throughout the week Notify the office of dietary needs immediately We re off! Monday, June 4 7:30 a.m. Register/load luggage at Murray County 4-H Center Eat breakfast and use bathroom before we leave! Bye, Mom & Dad! Please do not make the adults wait because they are going to be VERY tired.

5 Keep in mind that no news is good news. If you expect your child to call home, the only time for this is after breakfast. They will need to find their cabin adult to make the call. Remember that they are in good hands and we will see you on Friday! Canteen T-shirts $12 and up (Murray County 4-H ers will receive a t-shirt) Candy, chips, Icees & drinks: $1-$2 Stuffed animals, toys, etc. $5-$20 Key chains, postcards, etc. $1 and up In the end, it s up to your child to budget their money wisely. They won t go hungry with no money, but if they spend it all the first day there will be none left for the canteen the rest of the week. We try to avoid this happening by handing out envelopes each morning. Mail Call Snail Mail & packages should be sent by Thursday, May 31. Cabins Cabins hold 20 youth in bunk beds Bathrooms and showers shared by 4 campers Separate room & bathroom for adults At least one adult, plus a second adult or teen leader will be in each cabin Roommate requests will be considered, but may have to be changed for behavior or space Discipline Read & review the Code of Conduct before signing! Treat others nicely (no bullying), don t touch other students or their things, be respectful of all adults Minor misbehavior handled at camp Major violations will result in call to UGA police and to parents for IMMEDIATE pick up Illness Policy If your child arrives at a 4-H event/activity with an untreated contagious illness or is diagnosed at the event with a contagious illness, you will be asked to pick them up immediately. You will also be contacted if the child has a fever to determine the course of action. Contagious illnesses could include, but are not limited to: head lice, pink eye, mononucleosis, strep throat, flu, or ring worm. There will be a nurse on campus the week of camp.
