2 WHERE ARE WE GOING? Gator Wilderness Camp School Southwest Florida Year Round Residential Program Serving Boys ages Boys who come to camp are struggling to deal with a myriad of dysfunctional issues and extremely painful situations in their young lives The goal of Gator Camp is to not only help boys and their families rebuild the walls that have been torn down by broken relationships in the past but to challenge, encourage, and share with them the relationship Jesus Christ desires to have with each one of them

3 WHERE ARE WE GOING? Gator Wilderness Camp School All boys are referred from within reasonable proximity, 3 hours of camp Capacity is 30 boys in 3 peer specific groups (10-12 years old, years old and years old) The camp property encompasses 250 acres and includes 3 campsites constructed by the boys, a 12 acre lake, small pond, and other buildings used to house staff, offices and the chuckwagon The average length of placement is months with the goal for each boy to move back home after graduating from the camp program

5 WHEN ARE WE GOING The trip will be June 23- June , Saturday to Saturday We will be leaving in the morning and returning in the evening

6 WHY GATOR CAMP AGAIN Desire to create a service model that can be an ongoing partnership not just a go, serve, leave and never think about or know what s still happening with the place we served Affordable Get s us out of our comfort zones Youth really enjoyed our prior trip to Gator Camp Jeremy has ongoing connections with Gator Camp

7 HOW WILL WE GET THERE We ll be driving our two church vans, staying overnight in a hotel on the way down and driving straight through on the way home It will take us between hours driving to get to camp We ll have several drivers so that drivers can get breaks to rest On the way to camp and the way home we will eat several meals, the cost of these meals is not included in the cost for the trip We ll be taking a trailer with us to haul our things and gear

8 HOW MUCH WILL THE TRIP COST Each student will be asked to pay $130 for the week. This trip is extremely reasonably priced because camp provides our lodging for free and provides meals for $4 per person per meal We also need to fundraise leading up to the trip to raise some of our funds.

9 WHAT WILL WE BE DOING We will spend the week at camp helping complete projects that would not normally be completed without additional help Due to the economic factors in the lives of the boys families God has called camp to serve, camp must make up a difference of $14, annually for each boy they serve Camp asks youth groups to arrive with a great attitude towards serving with their whole heart during your time with us realizing that some projects and work require effort and determination Gator Camp will provide our group with a potential list of projects that your group could contribute towards and work on the week you are serving

10 LODGING Gator Camp will organize lodging for us depending on the size of our group We will not be staying at the church we stayed at in 2016

11 MEALS Meals will be prepared and served at the camp; Camp requests a donation of $12 daily ($4/meal)/per person) The Food is excellent

12 SCHEDULE: Monday morning: Walking tour of camp/prayer time prior to beginning the week (led by a camp staff member) A commitment to daily individual devotions and prayer by each group member. This is usually completed prior to arriving on site each morning. Daily group devotions led by a member of the youth group. This is usually completed prior to arriving on site each morning. 8am: Breakfast 12:30pm: Lunch 5:30pm: Dinner Wednesday 7:15pm: Your group leads a program involving singing, scripture, skits, etc for the camp boys, this is hosted in the chuckwagon

13 FLORIDA IS HOT Adequate fluid intake is very important during the summer months in Southwest Florida. During the months of June, July, and August the gulf breezes do not reach this far inland Large Water Bottles will be important Camp has a large capacity ice machine as well as coolers to transport drinks to various work groups around the property.

14 WHAT TO BRING A great attitude that is prepared to make Gator Wilderness a better place to be because of your service and presence with us A commitment to take care of the tools, equipment, and property here at camp. Everything you will use throughout the week has been provided to us through the Lord s provision and faithfulness. It is your responsibility to keep this in mind during your time here. If we have to repair equipment and tools the week after a group leaves is negates the effectiveness of the group s effort and is not an effective witness To clearly understand that at home you may do this differently or in a lot less time than we do it at camp. Reminder, we use what we have at camp so it may not be the latest or greatest A commitment to safety when working on projects Suggested - no cell phones while working at camp: cell phone coverage is very spotty at camp and some of our boys may pick up phones left lying around. It is our desire for the mission s trip participants to spend their week connecting with their group and not distracted by texting or otherwise Online Usage is NOT AVAILABLE at camp: The camp location is very remote thus requiring a satellite connection that allows for very limited monthly downloads

15 WHAT TO BRING Clothes and Other: Bible Bug Spray Sun Screen Gloves Hat (for protection from the sun) Towels/washcloths Bedding/Sleeping bag/pillow Personal items Pants/Shorts: NOTE: Guys: No gym shorts, No sagging shorts, Girls: Modest length shorts, Many outdoor projects will require long pants Shirts: No inappropriate slogans or suggestive comments, Girls: NO low cut shirts and blouses (Modesty is important and needs to be a significant consideration with the population we serve and minister to here at camp)

16 DEADLINES AND OTHER THINGS Registration and payment is due by April 1 Cmfyouth.churchcenteronline.com Pay online or check made out to CMF given to Jeremy, partial payments can be made Expectation: students going on this trip are involved in CMF youth ministry We want to know you and what to expect before taking you on a week long trip with us The Leadership Team is not totally set yet for this trip This year we want to take a donation to camp with us

17 FORMS We ll need three things for this years trip 1. CMF Youth Permission Form 2. Medical Release Form 3. Gator Camp Participant Release Form None of these forms need to be notarized You can pick up each of these forms when you leave
