4 SCR Wrangler Expectations 1. Prayer Walk: The third morning of camp the wranglers meet at Dining hall for a prayer walk through camp. This includes scripture reading, time of prayer and praise as you walk through camp (this takes about 45 minutes). 2. Wrangler Roundup: You will have the opportunity to interact with your kids in a group setting. Following are some suggestions to make this time fruitful for you and your campers. 1. Make sure you are on time to your assigned location. At this time you are solely responsible for your campers. Arriving late leaves your kids UNSUPERVISED! 2. Come prepared! You will be required to keep your kids QUIETLY engaged in the designated area for 45 minutes. Here are some round-up ideas a. Bible Study that you teach and have prepared ahead of time b. Share Time (quietly) c. Personal Assignment (something you hand-out) d. Thank you s to their sponsors ** If you need more specifics about each ask the Wrangler Shepherd Staff. 3. If you finish early keep your kids engaged to prevent them from disturbing other groups by playing around, etc. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT GROUPS ARE ALLOWED QUIET TIME. 3. Wrangler/Counselor Social The Wrangler/ Counselor social is designed to provide you an opportunity to speak with the counselors. To discover how your kids are adjusting to camp or to share insights on a camper with our staff; this is the time for that. Here are some suggestions to help maximize the effectiveness of this time. (4:15-5:05 on day 2) - Be on time to the social stay the entire time. ALL Wranglers SHOULD BE INVOLVED IN WRANGLER COUNSELOR SOCIAL. 4

5 4. Lights Out & Taps: a. Please turn out lights on time. According to camps TAPS (Use flashlight if necessary.) b. Be CONSIDERATE of others (whisper quietly after taps & in mornings). c. Stay in the cabin after lights out. e. If you re walking into camp after lights out, be respectful as some may be asleep 5. Please be on time for all activities and meals: a. Check info board for daily meal schedule in your cabins. b. 9:20 am (Daily attendance is Required in morning for announcements) * Be sure to check cabin info boards regularly for possible daily schedule changes. 6. Dining Hall: a. Behind the counter is off limits unless you are an authorized volunteer. b. Take all you want, but eat all you take. c. Absolutely NO food or drink outside of the dining hall. (except water) 7. Service Over Self (S.O.S) Where would you find Jesus working at Camp? Matt. 20:27 For even I, the Son of Man, came here not to be served but to serve others, and to give my life as a ransom for many." The Service Over Self initiative is an aspect of SCR that allows Wrangler s to help in the dining hall or cabin or camp property. After every Dinner (that we are there), the Wranglers can serve by cleaning the front of the dining hall. This includes sweeping or moping the floor, cleaning the benches and tabletops, and wiping down the counter tops. 8. Cabin Area a. Absolutely NO food or drink (except water) in the Cabin area. b. No food, drinks, etc. may be kept in the cabins, office, or nurses office whether mailed or brought into camp. c. The office will not store opened food for Wranglers or campers. d. Secure personal valuables camp will not be responsible for items taken. 9. SCR wrangler Modesty Policy/ Dress Code 1. Daily attire for campers, staff, and Wranglers will consist of athletic shorts (no spandex) and shirts, jogging pants or athletic suits. This will aid in giving each camper, staff, and 5

6 wrangler the best possible experience as they participate in daily activities. cheerleader shorts are not acceptable attire at camp. Dresses and skirts are discouraged and clothing with writing on rear are not allowed. 2. Absolute personal modesty will be observed while inside the cabin. We will never sit around or walk around in the cabin without towels or clothing covering personal body parts. Nakedness at any time is unacceptable unless dressing or undressing in an appropriate and timely manner. Towels will be worn at all times, going to and from showers. Disrobing will take place at the last possible minute before and after showers. 3. No staff, camper, or wrangler will sleep in the nude. 4. Socks and shoes will be worn at all times. 5. No shirts with inappropriate of suggestive slogans or designs will be worn. 6. No sun bathing is allowed around swimming pools. Male Clothing Modesty: 1. Males are required to wear shirts at all times unless they are in an all- male activity. Shirts will be worn when attending meals, social events, to and from the pool, and worship services, etc., where females are present. 2. Males will not be allowed to wear track shorts. No underwear should be showing and there should be no sagging with any shorts or pants. 3. Male staff will not be allowed to wear thin undershirt tank tops. Only athletic, sport tank tops will be worn. 4. No due rags are to be worn outside of cabin area. Female Clothing Modesty: 1. Modest one-piece swimsuits, no high cut-legs and no cut-outs. No bikinis, low backs, and no cut-outs. Girls should not wear lycra swimsuits all-day because of potential yeast infections. Swimsuit approval will be subject to director discretion or wrangler Leadership, if necessary. 2. Girls must wear shorts and shirts over their swimsuits when not at a water activity. 3. No leggings or running tights may be worn without shorts, and spandex pants are not allowed. There will be a minimum of a 3-inch seam and shorts will be evaluated according to the finger-length policy if necessary. 6

7 4. Bras must be worn all day and to any co-ed activity. No jog bras should be showing under the arms of the tank. Bras should not be visible through any shirt. Cool Max shirts will be allowed, with the exception of white ones. 5. No spaghetti straps will be worn only thick-strapped tank tops, and no midriffs showing, even when the arms are raised. Tight shirts also are not allowed. 6. Tight jeans and pants are not allowed. 7. Please no underwear of any type showing through a see through shirt, shorts etc. 8. No scarf s or due rags are to be worn over hair outside of cabin. General Modesty and Policies: 1. No backpacks should be carried by any camper, unless girls on cycle, diabetic, or epi pens are required, 2. Athletic shoes and socks will be worn at all times during the day. Exceptions: Flip-flops or sandals can be worn to and from showers but not outside the cabin to prevent foot injuries. Chaco s, tevas or waders can be worn to and from water-related activities. All sandals must have a strap around the ankle. Old tennis shoes are also acceptable to be worn as waders. Chaco s and sandals will be allowed at meals and evening activities only. Socks must still be worn with these sandals. 3. We will never joke about, exemplify, emphasize, or otherwise call attention to sexual body parts. No jokes and/or comments are to be made directed to anyone regarding sensitive subjects. This is not appropriate at anytime and is considered as overt sexual abuse. 7

High Risk Areas: - Trampoline - Paddle boards - Canoes - Fish - Waterfront - ropes course - Archery - Gym - Pool Area - Climbing/Rappelling Tower - Challenge Course - Zip Line - And behind the counter in the training table (ovens, etc.). THESE ARE ALL AREAS THAT REQUIRE A CERTIFIED CAMP OPERATOR PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRY THEM WITHOUT CERTIFIED CAMP OPERATOR SUPERVISION. 11. Waterfront: a. Permission is required by Aquatics director to use paddle boards, canoes and fishing gear. b. No paddle boards or canoeing alone. c. Life jackets must be used. d. No swimming alone. 12. Wranglers In-Camp Transportation Please do not ask other SCR employees for rides in Kubota s around camp. They are not trying to be rude technically they are not allowed. Make sure to plan your walking time on camp wisely so you will not be late to meals or Wrangler activities. Camp Director will not accept the excuse of being late to their Dining Hall meals 13. Cell Phones and Computers Cell phone usage is acceptable at SCR. If you must make a call using your cell phone please do so completely out of site from campers and staff. Please turn your cell phones off during meetings and after lights out. You may use you cell phone IN THE CABIN (not outside on porch or surrounding area). Please be considerate of others around you, they could be sleeping, praying or reading. ***IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY camper/ family contact will be handled at the Kamp Directors discretion, (Find Sylvia and Ray and let them know what is going on so that they may go and get the camper out and bring to you in a private area). Please do not give your cell phone to campers to call home. 8

9 In case of an emergency YOU SHOULD GIVE OUT THE CAMP MAIN OFFICE NUMBER ( ) Please do not ask to use a Camp office phone. There will be NO computer connection for Wranglers. We appreciate your understanding, and cooperation in helping us keep our camp operations flowing smoothly. 14. A/C in Wrangler Cabin Please do not adjust the A/C in your cabin. It will be adjusted by your shepherd. If you have temperature concerns, please consult your shepherd. Thanks for your Cooperation. 15. Wrangler Personal Van Usage a. After you have dropped off your campers/luggage on opening day keep your vehicle in the SCR parking lot. b. Under no circumstance are you allowed to drive your vehicle into any SCR camp. This is for the safety of everyone!!!!! c. If you do leave camp for any reason, please inform Wrangler Leadership and sign out at the main office at camp. If we need to reach you, in case of an emergency we need to know where you are. 16. Wrangler/ Camper Relationship a. If you need to speak with one of your campers please try to reach them during free time, meals or round-up, etc. Please do not go looking for them or into their cabins (even if they are your own child). If you ever need to go into the locker for any reason, please ask the Director and they will assist you. b. While at camp, under no circumstance should a camper be taken from their class Campers must stay at their designated camp area (Even if they are your own child). c. Upon arrival at SCR each child s luggage will be checked to make sure all clothing is properly marked/identified with campers name. (this helps with LOST AND FOUND during camp) 17. Wrangler Personal Behavior Policy d. Under no circumstances will alcohol or drugs be allowed on camp grounds. This action will result in immediate dismissal. e. Avoid taking pictures of campers at the pool or areas where shirts are removed 9

10 ***PLEASE CHECK THE ANNOUNCEMENT BOARD IN THE Cabin FOR DAILY AFTERNOON ACTIVITY OPTIONS. SCR Camper Disciplinary Policies: We strongly believe that discipline minus love leads to rebellion. Our goal at Stoney Creek Ranch is to show kids the love of Christ while teaching them how to love and respect others. We accomplished this by first loving and respecting our campers. We feel we earn the right to discipline a camper after we have spent time loving that child. If we do our job right, disciplinary actions may be minimized. If a situation warrants discipline, our Leadership team is consulted for their wisdom, experience, and discernment before any disciplinary measures are taken. Once the situation has been evaluated and the disciplinary action decided it is the duty of the one administering the action to go through the exercise with the camper. For instance, if you ask a camper to run a mile, you run the mile along with the child. If we want your camper to change, we will go the extra mile with and for them. We feel that a problem situation is the perfect opportunity to get to the root of the camper s real issue. ZONES OF CONDUCT: YELLOW: Grace period (at counselor s discretion). BLUE: Do what is on the getting the job done list. IF THE CAMPER WILL NOT DO THE LIST, then they RED: Come to office immediately, adjusted meal with Counselor, and visit with director. FIRE ZONE: With Wrangler Repeat Offenders Once a child has gone through all discipline zones and reaches the FIRE ZONE the following should be followed all will be done under the wrangler s supervision 10

11 The camper will be sent to the wrangler, they will have the option to take them home or keep them with them. Camper will shower in wrangler Cabin, with wrangler supervision, when other wranglers are present. (this should take 15 min. or less) Camper may attend wrangler worship or study time with the supervising wrangler. Camper will not be allowed to attend any camp activities (parties). Camper will eat in dining with supervising wrangler, however camper must remain seated throughout the meal, (all privileges to get his/her own food are taken away). Camper may attend Cross Talk, and Say-So, w/ supervising wrangler only. (with Directors approval) Campers may attend Awards ceremony, but must sit with supervising wrangler the entire time. (with Directors approval) If camper remains at camp they may be assigned the following jobs. Supervising Wrangler will oversee them: 1. Maintenance work (picking up and emptying trash). 2. Work in kitchen after meal helping with dishes, sweeping, and mopping, etc. 3. Cleaning windows (outside). SCR strongly encourages the wrangler to send child home if possible. If your camper has been injured to the point that they must stay in the Health Center overnight or go to the Hospital, the group leader will be informed. 11

12 SCR Departure Procedures 1. After Championship locker, kids will be instructed by their counselors to place their luggage in a designated area by ministry group. 2. PLEASE HAVE BUSES/VANS ARRIVE AT CAMP NO LATER THAN 9:00am. The buses and vans must be loaded and parked by registration ready to depart ( load from 8:30 9:30 ( have one wrangler from your group assist our maintenance guys load up your vehicles for departure) 3. You can escort your Campers to your vehicle at the conclusion of the program. 4. If your transportation happens to be late, it is important that you keep your kids together and away from camp equipment or facilities. Our staff will be cleaning camp and getting ready for the next group to come in, we want to give the new groups the same courtesy that was given to your kids when they arrived. 5. The Camp Director will have a designated area assigned for you to wait (make sure you coordinate with your drivers to be on time to get the youth, so it will not be an inconvenience to you nor SCR). 12

14 1) GOD is LOVE 1 John 4:8, 4:10, 4:16 Psalm 139:18 John 3:16 GOD is CREATOR Genesis 1:1 Psalm 139:13; Gen. 1:27 GOD is JUST Psalm 37:27-29 Isaiah 61:8 Hebrews 10:30 SALVATION = RELATIONSHIP 2) The first verse on the Romans Road to salvation is Romans 3:23 - "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." We have all sinned. We have all done things that are displeasing to God. There is no one who is innocent. (Romans 3:10-18 gives a detailed picture of what sin looks like in us.) 3) The second Scripture on the Romans Road is Romans 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." This teaches us about the consequences of sin: The punishment that we have earned for our sins is death. Not just physical death, but eternal death! 4) The third verse on the Romans Road to salvation Romans 5:8 - "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Jesus Christ died for us! Jesus' death paid for the price of our sins. Jesus' resurrection proves that God accepted Jesus' death as the payment for our sins. 5) The fourth verse on the Romans Road to salvation is Romans 10:9-14

15 "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your HEART that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:13 - "for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." You can t have one without the other (faith and repentance) Mark 1:15 No longer living for yourself 2 Corinthians 5:15 & Galatians 2:20 6) The final aspect of the Romans Road to salvation is the results of salvation. Romans 5:1 "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Through Jesus Christ we can have a RELATIONSHIP with God. o Romans 8:1 "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Because of Jesus' death on our behalf, we will NEVER be condemned for our sins. o Romans 8:38-39 "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. No one cannot respond to the Gospel. For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him. You have done foolishly in this, for from now on you will have wars. - 2 Chronicles 16:9 15
