2 What is SFRTA? A body politic and agency of the state. Created on July 1, 2003, by an act of the Florida Legislature (Florida Statutes Chapter 343) to plan, develop, own, operate, maintain, and manage transit systems in the tri-county area of Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties. 2

3 Vision Statement Providing greater mobility in South Florida, thereby improving the economic viability and the quality of the community, region and state.

4 A Business Oriented Approach for Delivering Transportation SFRTA Board of Directors Two Governor Appointees, Three County Commissioners, Three County Representatives and a FDOT representative. Board members bring real world business knowledge and fiscal responsibility to ensure efficient delivery of transportation services. 3

9 SFRTA Milestones/Existing Conditions Tri-Rail service begins in January 1989 SFRTA created in 2003 Double-tracking completed in 2006 Allowed for more frequent and more reliable service National recognition for record-breaking ridership growth during period Locomotives using biodiesel blend since 2008 Now operating a 50 train schedule on weekdays 20 and 30 minute headways during peak 72-mile service corridor 18 stations Connections with Metrorail, county buses, SFRTA shuttles, and municipal/other shuttles 9
