He was definitely insane most of the time, and used to haunt our place. Many stories are told of Skelly...he claimed second sight, and warned the B.Y.N. of a boat that was sunk in 5 Fingers...He had been all over the Yukon...never did any work and knew all the past history of everyone in the Yukon...particularly if it was shady. 89/31 #143 Cat train [Overland stage. Captain (Paddy) Martin was an early Whitehorse merchant. He had a store at Conrad. Captain Martin was a deep sea Captain and brought the Canadian up the Alaskan Coast to St. Michael, and then up the Yukon to Dawson, and Whitehorse. Swanson was a handyman for the Partridges there for years, and she came in as a companion to Mrs. Partridge (a missionary). Partridges nearly had a fit over the affair, and kicked her out. After they died, she married Swanson and they ran the place.
