8 Live Water: Daisy Dean Creek is a small alpine stream and holds small trout that will provide fun fishing opportunities for anglers. The ranch has good water rights that provide the potential to create a pond in the future. Nearby Live Water: The North Fork of the Musselshell is a few miles from the ranch. This steam is not well known to most anglers, however can offer surprisingly good fishing for brown and rainbow trout. Martinsdale and Bair Reservoirs are a short distance from the property and offer great camping, boating and fishing for trout. Take a drive into the mountains or better yet, saddle the horse and experience the hundreds of miles of small alpine creeks that offer private fly fishing.

9 Ranch Operation: The ranch is fenced and cross-fenced and can comfortably provide grazing and hay for 50 to 100 cows. The hay is floodirrigated through a low maintenance, and low labor system of ditches that are checked and dams to flood different areas. This is a good set-up for an owner who wants to run and manage his/her own herd or lease to a neighbor. An owner more interested in hunting or wildlife can chose to run fewer cows and adjust the grazing pattern to encourage elk and other game to spend more time on the ranch.

10 History: The small town of Martinsdale has a rich history that can be enjoyed at the Charles M. Bair Family Museum. Charlie Bair is one of the classic examples of the western success story. He made his first fortune in the Alaska Gold rush of the 1870s, moving to central Montana in He eventually built one of the largest sheep operations in the world, and along the way made friends with the likes of Charlie Russell, Tom Mix, Will James, Chief Plenty Coups and several U.S. Presidents. He also put together one of the most impressive collections of Indian and western artifacts. In 1866, what is now White Sulphur Springs was called Brewer Springs and developed the hot springs into a stage stop and resort. Native Americans had used the springs for many generations as a place of healing waters. The natural hot springs were compared to the famous Baden-Baden Hot Springs in Germany. A great many peopled traveled from all over the country to partake in the waters. A hotel was built, and plans were made by John Ringling to build a plush and fancy Victorian resort. Unfortunately, the Great Depression interfered with Ringling s plan and the resort was never built. Fortunately for the modern traveler, the hot springs are still available and just as relaxing and wonderful as they were in the early years. For generations, this valley has been home to many kinds of agriculture - from the early days of sheep ranching on the open range and the dominance of Charles Bair in Martinsdale to the opulence of the Ringling household and the subsequent evolution of ranching to fenced cattle and hay production. This fertile area remains a productive ranching community.

11 Climate: This part of Montana enjoys a mild climate with over 300 days with sunshine. July and August are the warmest months with high temperatures averaging in the low 80s and nighttime lows in the 50s. January is typically the coldest month with daily highs in the mid 30s. The White Sulphur Springs area gets very light snow coverage, most of the moisture falls as rain in May, June and early July.

12 Wildlife: Seclusion makes the Daisy Dean Creek Ranch a major elk calving area in the spring. Elk are abundant in the area and are a common site on the ranch year-round. Whitetail and mule deer also call the ranch home. Hungarian partridge, sharp-tailed grouse, moose, antelope and bears can be found in the area. Elk, bighorn sheep and Rocky Mountain goats can be found in the nearby mountains. Large and small game and non-game animals are abundant in the area mountains and forest service. Exploring the nearby mountain ranges could take a lifetime with the Big Belts, Castle and Crazy Mountains to the south, Bridgers to the northwest, and Little Belts to the north.
