Signature Event Series sponsors receive a significant amount of recognition at all of the major annual events in the Boathouse District, including the OKC Whitewater Festival, Stars & Stripes River Festival and the Oklahoma Regatta Festival. Sponsorship levels vary. Capital Partner sponsorship includes naming rights to adventure attractions and new experiences in RIVERSPORT Adventures in the Boathouse District, at Lake Overholser or Lake Hefner. Numerous opportunities are available. Program Partners sponsor one of our team or youth outreach programs From youth to masters, rowing to paddling, there are plenty of opportunities to contribute to the evolution of the Boathouse District. Statements Mission The Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation's mission is to develop and operate facilities and programs to improve the quality of life in Oklahoma City, pursue the highest goals of sports and fitness, attract diverse involvement in the boathouses and related events that generate a positive public image and economic opportunity, and promote the use and development of the Oklahoma River as a world class urban aquatic venue. Background The OKC Boathouse Foundation was established in 2005 by a group of civic and community leaders under the direction of Board Chairman Aubrey K. McClendon with Michael J. Knopp as executive director with the intention of developing the section of the Oklahoma River flowing through downtown into a center of community activity. In the years since, the OKCBF has been at the forefront of a revitalization movement, bringing the Oklahoma River to life with rowing, kayaking, and outdoor adventures that attract people of all ages and from all walks of life, from youth outreach to senior dragon boaters to Olympic athletes. We ve developed a landscape of iconic architecture against the backdrop of downtown, and have received global attention for our innovation. In 2016, we were entrusted with one of the city s boldest projects: OKC s $45 million MAPS3 whitewater rafting and kayaking center. 2

3 Impact The OKC Boathouse Foundation and like-minded corporate and civic leaders have transformed the once dry and barren Oklahoma River in downtown Oklahoma City into an economic driver and center of community activity. We re changing the way people around the world see us, and how we see ourselves. Long known as a state with low health rankings, OKCBF programs and activities are now attracting both youth and families to new active, outdoor lifestyles. Adaptive programs are giving people with disabilities new freedom. Senior dragon boating brings wise dragons back to the center of community life. Junior athletes, many of whom never found success in traditional sports, are earning scholarships to some of America s most prestigious universities. Two of OKCBF s newest programs are providing unparalleled support for OKC First Responders as well as swiftwater rescue responders across the country. OKC s heroes - first responders including firefighters, police and EMTs - now have free access to the worldclass fitness and outdoor recreational resources in the Boathouse District through our partnership with OKCRespond. Funded by contributors across the metro, we are able to fill this previously unmet need and provide the fitness training that ensures first responders are ready to meet the physical challenges of their jobs. Equally important, the program provides mental health resources to ensure first responders have the emotional support needed in their high stress jobs. The multi-faceted program also provides opportunities for first responders to break down barriers between law enforcement and at-risk youth. A complementary youth leadership program is taking young offenders in new, more positive directions. RIVERSPORT s Swiftwater Rescue program takes advantage of OKCBF's RIVERSPORT Rapids whitewater rafting center to provide training critical for the success and safety of first responders working in floodwaters. We've made great progress with these and other programs. Today, we are looking for the next generation of partners to keep the momentum going, to ensure our investments to date deliver on the promise, and to create even more innovation for our city. Comments on Financials CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments 2015 Financial data is pending and will be updated as soon as it is available. Tax-exempt organizations can request an automatic 3-month tax extension and an additional 3-month (non-automatic) tax extension if the first 3 months weren t enough. te that the IRS requires organizations to demonstrate reasonable cause for the additional tax extension. It is not uncommon for non-profit groups to be busy and understaffed, and getting a tax extension can give them the time to ensure that their tax return is in full compliance. Foundation Staff Comments All prior year financial information is from the IRS Form 990s. Contributions may include foundations and corporations when the breakout was not available.
