6 Safety Requirements for KRCB s Requirements Each volunteer must complete the KRCB waiver form An adult must accompany volunteers 14 years of age and younger No open-toed shoes, and no flip flops s must wear the gloves and orange vests provided by KRCB staff s are encouraged to stay in open areas and use the buddy system; o Work in small groups, and never allow others to go off alone Stay alert at all times; o Stay away from traffic and do not interfere with motorists o Do not horseplay keep in mind that tools are not toys o Do not enter construction zones Any object that poses a threat to a volunteers well being should be left untouched; o Do not touch anything that may be toxic or hazardous Such as syringes, weapons, chemicals, etc. o Note the location of an unsafe item, and tell a project leader/krcb staff member immediately o Do not pick up broken bottles or objects Project Instructions When collecting trash; o Do not make bags too heavy o Do not drag bags to your site s trash pile o Double tie all bags o Place the trash in a pile close to the nearest street; away from motorists and pedestrians, but in clear sight for waste management to see o Be cautious of bulky items (such as tires, wood, auto parts) Kick the item to make sure critters aren t underneath or around it Place items next to the trash pile o If you come across tumbleweeds, or palm frons, please flatten them and place them under trash bags so that they do not blow away o If you find deceased animals, do not pick them up; Call animal control at: If you spot graffiti near your site, please call it in to the City of Riverside by dialing If volunteers have any chronic health issues (i.e. respiratory problems, diabetes); o Notify your team leader o Do not overwork yourselves, and bring any necessary medication along with you First aid is located at KRCB Staging area In case of medical emergency, dial 911 and notify KRCB staff immediately A community program sponsored by the City of Riverside s Public Works Department and the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce Our Mission To instill a sense of community pride by creating partnerships that works towards the beautification of the City
