A very generous list of sponsors from both Moonta & Kadina has covered the cost of trophies.

2 Moonta & District Progress Association Community News Page 2 Cafes and Coffees One of the delights of living in Moonta is the numerous cafes we can visit to enjoy a relaxing coffee or tea with friends and family. They are all very different, some focusing on coffee, cake and ambiance, while others fit tea and coffee in with fries or fishing gear. We are looking for groups or individuals to take part in the parade. The theme is anything military, circa 1918 and fun. We currently have plans for a tank, a ship and a hospital bed with nurses. Rubber protective surrounds for the signs for the Kids bike track at Polgreen Park were recently installed but vandals removed some of them which will now have to be replaced. Lions spend a lot of time volunteering to make our Park a better place for the Community and its a sad reflection on our society when others denigrate the good efforts we do. The Lions Shade sails at Splash Town were temporarily removed for repairs but were reinstalled in time for the hot weather. Lions are always on the lookout for new members to help the Community. If you are interested in becoming a Lion then contact Moonta Lions President Lorraine Darling on or Des Watts on Ladies are most welcome. 4 Seasonal Change in Victoria Park Summer is over. It s reassuring to see new shoots on trees and shrubs in Victoria Park that struggled through the very dry spring and summer. Four out of five of the newly planted seedlings did not survive, despite the best efforts of the small band of volunteers who attempt to water the plants every fortnight. stroll at a more leisurely pace, including the Friends who appreciate the change of pace on the walks each third Sunday of the month. Moonta & District Progress Association The pond needs an extra team of volunteers to keep it pleasant. Sandra McKenzie and Lib Bartholomeusz are Friends who spend each Tuesday morning working in the park. The area the Friends have named The Pond holds storm water runoff so it is very full over winter, and is now waiting for some fresh water. It s been interesting to see how quickly the vegetation has changed over the four years the water has been flowing into the pond. Plenty of weeds flourish keeping the Friends busy, and many new native species are also growing. The group is looking for new volunteers who may like to take on this rather attractive area, enabling the current volunteers to focus on other spots that they re also trying to beautify. Now that it s autumn more walkers are using the park, some with their dogs leading them on. Others Make-A-Wish Australia Yorke Peninsula Branch Ride, Run, Walk 2018 We are excited to announce the Make-A-Wish Ride, Run, Walk 2018 Departing Kadina on Sunday 25 th March and finishing at Wallaroo. Come along and ride, run or walk the new Rotary cycle track, starting from 10am. Unlike previous events, this is not a race we will not be timing any rides or runs. We want people to appreciate the great outdoors, enjoy each others company and help us to raise much-needed funds to grant lifechanging wishes for really sick kids. It s all about participation and fun, with plenty of activities throughout the morning. Come dressed in blue, or as your favourite wish or superhero. Prizes for best dressed and best decorated bike. Entry fee is $5 per person and all participants must sign in on the day. Registration forms available via the YPCT or contact Janet on or janetgreg@live.com.au This space is available.
