1 CAP NEWSLETTER May 9, 2014, Issue 13 AGAUS SUMMER MEETING The Adjutants General Association of the U.S. (AGAUS) will be holding their summer conference in Oklahoma City, OK from Sunday, June Please note that industry is invited for the State days ONLY June This event provides access to the Adjutants General from each of the states, territories, and DC. The conference will be held at the Renaissance Oklahoma City Convention Center & Hotel. An abbreviated schedule is as follows: Sunday, June Conference Check-In at the hotel Golf Outing John Conrad Golf Course Widely Attended Gathering 50 th Floor of the Devon Tower Monday, June Exhibit Hall Open AGAUS Social Rodeo & Musical Entertainment Musical Entertainment provided by Bluegrass legend, Bill Grant Tuesday, June Exhibit Hall Open Night at the Museum Tour of the 45 th Infantry Museum and chuck wagon BBQ To register for the conference, for hotel information, or to secure exhibit space, please go to UPDATED Resolutions SOP The NGAUS resolution SOP has been updated. The electronic Draft Resolutions Form for submitting resolutions has changed significantly, allowing more room for justification. The form is no longer available to Industry from the NGAUS website. Industry Partners should work with a State(s) to submit a resolution. To view the entire Resolutions SOP go to the NGAUS website: Under the Issues & Advocacy tab, click the Resolutions link. The SOP is on the right side of the page labeled Draft Resolutions SOP. UPDATED NGAUS Task Forces SOP The NGAUS Task Forces SOP has been updated. The biggest change to the SOP is that all Task Forces meetings will be open to Industry Partners--there will be no Task Force meetings closed to industry. However, Industry Partners must be NGAUS corporate members to attend Task Force meetings, so make sure your corporate membership is current. To view the entire Task Forces SOP go to the NGAUS website: Under the About NGAUS tab, click the Task Forces link. The SOP is under Task Forces Resources.

2 AGAUS 2014 Dates to Remember Oklahoma City, OK, June (23-24 State Days) EANGUS 2014 Phoenix, AZ August th General Conference 2014 Chicago, IL August HOTELS FOR NGAUS NGAUS is aware that a company going by Global Housing Services Corporation (GHS Corp) is soliciting our members, attendees, Industry and Trade Show personnel to book rooms outside of the NGAUS Conference room blocks. For the NGAUS 2014 Conference the four (04) authorized hotels being used: Hyatt Regency Chicago Intercontinental Chicago Marriott Chicago Downtown Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers Transportation to/from the convention center and nightly events and other NGAUS support will be provided only from these four authorized hotels. All Hotels are located along the Downtown Chicago Magnificent Mile. More OFFICIAL Hotel and Conference info can be found on the conference page of the NGAUS website at These hotel piracy or poacher companies are becoming better known to Association and Meeting Planners; they act very aggressive and use interesting techniques to convince tradeshow managers to book rooms thru their services. They are not acting illegal - but are not authorized by NGAUS to represent. Membership Committee Update The CAP consists of 15 elected representatives of Industry and serves as a liaison to the NGAUS leadership. The term is two years. The CAP raises Industry concerns and communicates solutions that best represent the Industry supporting the National Guard and NGAUS as a whole. The CAP needs dedicated and knowledgeable additions that can help carry on the good work the CAP has accomplished over the last several years. Please consider this and talk to any CAP member if you have questions. The list of current CAP members and governance is on the NGAUS website. The CAP consists of business categories: - Large Businesses (>$500 mil/yr DoD Business) - Medium Business (<$500 mil/yr, but >$100 mil/yr DoD Business) - Small Businesses (<$100 mil/yr DoD Business). This year, the CAP will have nine expiring member terms covering all business categories small, medium, and large, and we need to fill those with elections coming in August at NGAUS. We encourage you to explore this great opportunity to make a difference for all of industry that works with NGAUS. Please watch for the call for nominations in July!
